Seriously though. I do not know the rules of Snooker, but I do know there is one really good dude that’s mesmerizing to watch. Somehow I occasionally find myself back on these videos and I’m glad I do.

I watched a 3 rail tutorial video from some badass woman pool player. Now this pops up and I realize I don't know what the hell the rules are in snooker.

When I miss a shot: ball roles 1.5 inches, nowhere near a pocket
When these guys miss a shot: ball makes 18 rotations around the sun and goes directly in the pocket
This guys delivered some good power to the balls to be able keep them rotating.
I think they do that to keep the ball rolling when in doubt if the shot will make it or not.

Slow rolling snooker balls are influenced by the cloth they roll on (unlike pool- and billards-cloth). A diagonal shot at low velocity will always (to some extend) curve.

A lot of the ones that bounce over like three walls are calculated with slight luck involved to actually go in, hitting a corner of the middle pocket and having the ball go in because of it is sheer dumb luck

@@ChesterRGC, the other player now has to hit the white ball in such a way that the first ball it touches is a red one. If he fails, it's a four point penalty (or more, depending on what it touches first), the balls are put back, and he tries again until either he succeeds or he concedes. I'm not sure there's even space to get past the pink.

I think, sometimes when a player can swerve the hidden cue ball to hit a target ball that he can measure to pot it in the pocket, that's not a fluke, that's a pro. Once again, in a certain position he can plan it, especially if the target ball is not too far away from the pocket or it's a bit easy to get in.

Watched snooker avidly in the late 70's and 80's....saw Terry Griffiths win the champioship in 79, "I'm in the final now you know" speakiing to David Vine, Higgins amazing cue action, Thorburns fluke Red to win his 147 with Bill Werbunick pausing his game next door to watch , Kirk Stevens 147 in 1984, Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor 1985 blackball final, Joe Johnson 1986, etc

You haven't watched or played Snooker before if you think those were deliberate. In fact, you haven't even watched this video properly because in the first and third clip you mentioned, you can see Wilson and Gilbert put their hands up to apologize for the flukes. All three shots are just them attempting to escape from Snookers, hit the ball and get it safe.
For me it would be interested how the last guy has finished this position behind the colored ball?

Indeed, that's probably the most common type of fluke shot, which literally happens in almost every single game. Still a lot of luck required though!

Interesting how some players react to flukes, and when they have one, they don't apologize, they even raise fists if it's winning ball... Carter is mad on everyone, but his flukes are fine. Same with the Wilson's.
personally I wouldn't apologice, reciving an apology for the opponents luck feels like they are rubbing it on their faces. I'd much rather have the opponent continue as if they had it all planned

Half of these are escapes that the players managed to pot, half of the the shots are trump Vs Wilson, and after every shot it cuts to the opponent shaking their head🤣.
