Even the Olympic bronze medalist Aman Shehrawat shed 4.6 kg overnight before his medal bout a few days ago.
Vinesh had won many medals in both 48 kg and 50 kg previously without any issues. Sarah Hildebrandt who won eventually gold in Vinesh's weight category is older than Vinesh & has played in 53 kg events, where she lost both of her bouts to Vinesh. She also shed weight easily, just like all other wrestlers. But In Vinesh's case, the support staff surely made some oversight. BTW, she reached the gold medal bout without any issues, as her weight was 49.9. in the first day's weigh-ins. It was 51.1. kg only in the second day's weigh-ins.
I hope there's not any foul play from some insider, as I don't remember anyone who lost an assured silver medal this way.
