    The fact that the creator of the OST, Yuki Hayashi, retweeted a Japanese fan's post saying that if they pay enough to watch the movies then they might make a season is like so telling. The people who work on Haikyuu know that the manga is fantastic and know that these movies are gonna be a nightmare of a finale.

    I already saw the movie and it was amazing, hopefully they will make OVAs or mini season for Bokuto's mini arc and the post time skip, Seeing how they handled the first movie (like how they made the match like a real-time game and only cut some little parts of KaraNeko chapters) make me believe the 2nd part of the movie will only be about Karasuno vs Kamonedai match.

    Everybody saying this aged like milk, while I was so impressed by how accurate you were a year before release.
    I agree with almost every point you made, after watching. Felt so rushed, and left a bad taste in my mouth, didn't feel like Haikyuu. Had some great animation but the storytelling and the nuances of the match weren't there.
    I don't think people should equate making money at the boxoffice as if it was successful or not. A good showing at the box office just proves how many fans the series had going into the movie release.
    I will likely wait for the second movie to come out on streaming services instead of seeing it in theaters, and that to me, is an unsuccessful movie.

    Haikyuu kind of feels like a giant epilogue after the main tournament tbh. So i can see why they'd make it 2 movies. However, they have a lot of small but important character moments to capture on screen. So i hope they can make these movies long enough to do it all justice. If they trim the fat from the first 2 major matches, they might be able to do it. Although i can see some stuff being cut either way, but if they are careful about what they cut, they might be able to do it while keeping key parts still intact.
    This sure is going to be complicated. I hope they create some OVAs or something 😭

    At least there's an anime adaptation.
    Many animes just stopped adapting mid season or change the whole storyline to get it squeezed to less episodes, like Death Note, Tokyo Ghoul, or you mentioned Promised Neverland.
    Because it's hard to get a profit from anime. They only get money from dvd sells & original anime goodies and Haikyuu the last season failed to do that because of quality decreased. Basically no enough money to create next season. Anime adaptation always have a committee to have sponsors to animate it, but if the sponsors not happy, they won't join the committee anymore and it's nearly impossible to create a series without sponsors.
    The exceptional was Chain Saw Man, they did it without a committee because the manga series itself was already sell well so they were confident to do it. Even though the dvd sells result was sucks, they get all the profit without taken by committee so they were okay.

    im usually skeptical for any movie ever, but for this one, im also skeptical that they would fail?
    of the 33 chapters of nekoma vs karasuno, most of each chapter was rallying. like kageyama's serve has 3 panels just for him, and hinata's wide run got a wide page, for instance. likewise, kinoshita's serve against inarizaki was 3 pages, but like 6 seconds in the show. then again, line delivery and flashbacks add to the length of the scenes in contrast to how fast rallies would be.
    reactions are also something that the 4th season cut, i.e. the couple where the girlfriend got inspired watching the tourney. in order to streamline the movie, maybe they'll trim off bokuto and akaashi's reaction, and pretend that they're already about to play their next match or show up halfway thru the movie; and also trim or reduce the presence of other side characters like the senpais of other schools and shiratorizawa's mb (he said something about digging a block isn't the final defense, which the payoff didn't come for like 10 chapters). characters on the sidelines like hinata and yaku cheering their teammate will probably get trimmed too, because there's probably a lot of filler dialogue to fit the weekly release format and volume release, most usually having to reach a certain amount of pages (an example of an artist going back to add extra pages for volume releases is probably opm's yusuke murata). that makes the rallies very fast, action packed and exciting to watch, and also able to cram the earlier action oriented chapters into the first act of the movie. like chapters 302 and 303 was one long rally.
    because of how the entire arc has back to back rally, i think that's why a movie is a rational decision? because you can have a 40 minute long action scene with rallies upon rallies without any breaks in the middle. so, if imo the ideal structure for nekoma vs karasuno is the movie starts off with the old coaches' promise, then immediately into the action of the first act, which is just rally after rally, play after play. act 2 begins when kenma's plan is revealed, and the movie's tempo slows down a bit so the audience can take a break from the action, and is clued into how the match will play out based on the planning and philosophies of both teams. act 3 starts from nekoma and karasuno visualizing their official match as if they were playing a practice match, and the movie ends with hinata skipping lunch to go watch bokuto, which is a foreshadow to the next movie.
    the next movie begins with bokuto beating kiryu, and being too inspired by bokuto, hinata jumps into the next match without a thought. act 1 begins and ends as kamomedai vs karasuno, and ends as hinata falls and is escorted out of the stadium, realizing his ceiling as a player, but is determined to become a better one. this might sacrifice a lot of the action, but i always felt like the end of haikyuu is more philosophical than it is action oriented.
    act 2 starts right before heitor and hinata's matches, but the story is told out of chronological order. hinata recaps his training in brazil, and we find out halfway through the movie what happened to karasuno, and i think that is just enough run time to pass on the philosophy that winning and losing isn't everything, and ends with hinata returning to japan.
    act 3 is jackals vs adlers, and i feel like it might be better if it starts with kageyama's backstory first. that way, the rest of the movie is all action, showing how much hinata has improved, and reaffirming that losing is not everything, and its honestly about how a sport revolving around connecting with others connected these lives together, as it is how it ends in the manga.
    that's how i think it might go, but even if they don't go the way i think, im somehow not that pissed off? tbf, ive always expected haikyuu to have movies after the 4th season, but more about itachiyama, kamomedai, or the team that beat fukurodani that nobody knows anything about. those would be very interesting movies, but im also more curious than worried or pissed off about how the animes gonna end, like i wanna see how they're gonna handle the movies, cus they're production i.g. after all

    • @boiimcfacto2364
      @boiimcfacto2364 Před 10 měsíci

      First off, I like how you're passionate enough (like me) to write a short essay on your thoughts on the movies. That said, I think even with your plan the second movie would be terrible. Act 1 should end with Hinata falling? That's barely enough time to cover the philosophies and nuances of Kamomedai - my favourite team ever lol. Even with perfect pacing, there's no way they can cover the source material in 2 movies. Ideally, movie 1 should be Karasuno vs Nekoma, movie 2 is Karasuno vs Kamomedai + Bokuto's match (maybe), movie 3 is everything afterwards.

    • @johnwesely
      @johnwesely Před 10 měsíci

      This is the first break down I have seen that could conceivably not be awful. You are right that if something has to give, the Kanomedai match is the obvious choice. It is an awesome match but you could tell the same story without it, especially if you highlight Hinata's fatigue during the Nekoma match.

    An unlikely wish, but i really hope we get to see SOME of each character post timeskip. I wanna see the interraction between oikawa and hinata animated so we can see how far oikawa has come. The same with the ushijima and iwaizumi interractions too.
    Needless to say, its going to be a miracle if they can fit everything in within 2 movies. Im riding on everytbing post timeskip here, and i would be really dissappinted if none of these interractions are included.
    Not only is the timeskip an excellent arc, but its one of the best curtain calls. I love seeing what became of everyone, and to leave it out would be a crime imo. The post timeskip is a 'payoff'.
