You guys dont have a porter?
@ No we don't. Just me & another tech.
“Big pile of job security” , you can say that again brother. 💯
The advice about your attitude towards a problem does make a difference. I also like how you still do the basic jobs and don't think you should not have to because your in a higher position. Great video once again.
We preach a better sermon with our actions rather than with our lips. Thank you so much for watching AJ!

That's what I always tell my new technicians I would never ask you to do anything that I wouldn't do myself and never be proud of being high up on the ladder and having to get back down and do the Dirty Work....👍👍👍👍
We preach a better sermon with our actions rather than with our lips. Thank you so much for watching Tampa! I'm in Tallahassee by the way.

Ive done several jobs in my life. I have found what satisfies me and bores me, despite not being handy in the past..as I hit 30 I started viewing maintenance techs and handymen in a different light.
Theres just something about the general character of a man who wants to go learn to fix things and keeps at it.
This is going to sound ridiculous..but I think it will teach me more than I expect it too.
Heres to 2020!
Right on! Well said man. Thank you so much for watching Kosh!
Exactly bro.. I loved walking and doing my grounds, clears your mind and helps you get ready for the week and day. You can also look for things that need maintenance attention like disconnect box covers and noisy units and stuff. Your a good man Skid, keep up the good work bro.
Exactly! I actually like my morning walks. Exercise & pick up trash & look for issues. Thank you so much for watching Pete!

You're a good guy too man. New to this so I'm busy listening and observing.
Someone didnt do the compactor over the wknd..lol..keep up the good work
As an apartment maintenance technician, I can confirm this. Some people act like they don't know how apartments work. Some individuals file maintenance requests, but don't want anybody in their apartment at anytime 😂 😂😂.
👍😆👍Yep! Thank you so much for watching Comer!
thanks for showing the trash part first ,I work at a 20 acre site with 9 dumpster areas , we get a lot of outside dumping , like the beds and couches , truck loads of tires , lawn and tree cuttings , oversized trash bags that take two to lift , all piled in front of the dumpsters so the trash guy will not even try to pull any out .I have found lots of money , mostly change , but I did find a fifty dollar bill once , So I do keep looking ! found a new pair of boots my size too .
Nice! I love finding cash and goodies. 👍😆👍 Thank you so much for watching Tim!
Yep. Done all that. Including pressure washing. And not above doing more of it. Right now at Capital Walk we're painting every wall inside the model. 3 of those walls are accent walls.
👍😊👍 Thank you so much for watching Reel!

Damn man well played on the attitude. I Used to work industrial maintenance and now customer service maintenance. That attitude is awesome. I'm going to adopt it personally. I'm in bowling right now but I have to say that the attitude definitely translates.
Yep! There's nothing more contagious than a bad attitude. It's a battle I fight every day. I'm not perfect and that's okay. As long as I'm working on it & doing my best at it then I'm winning. Thank you so much for watching psymonkey!

I will be starting my maintenance technician job in a couple of days and I am real excited about it. Went through a lot of paper work and background check completed. The facility is ready for me to give them a hand and my skills. They gonna benefit from me. Im a jack of all trades, which helped me land that position. I've done things from cleaning up puke to concrete work.
Right on! Thank you so much for watching Robrony!

I'd hire you and your attitude in a heartbeat! Guys like you will never worry about being employed!
Thank you so much for watching VAG!
Good video. Solid lessons. Keep it up!
I actually kind of like the idea of dryer vents in the breezeway. At least you don’t have to get on a ladder to get to a third floor dryer vent cover that’s caked with lint. It might make a mess in the breezeway, but it seems like it would be a lot less of a big deal to work on if you get birds nests in them and stuff like that.
So true! Thank you so much for watching!
@@LexVance Thanks for making all these videos. It’s cool to see some real content about our crazy life.
. nice videos I've been doing maintenance for 18 years ago and every video has been spot on...

Thank you so much in just the few videos that I have watched I have learned so much from you.
If my work would of just told me that I am just supposed to fix things that would of made things so much easier.
Thank you so much for watching Myke!
Thankfully at my resort we have departments dedicated to various things. two guys for trash and recycling, 5-6 guys for painting, 3-4 guys for morning shift hotel maintenance, 2-3 guys for hotel maintenance and me that is preventive maintenance. Also got an entire team for ground maintenance as well.
Wow that's quite a crew. That'd be awesome! It's only me and one other guy where I'm at. Thank you so much for watching Matthew!
www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com
I work as a Groundskeeper and I have done some punch work as well. I have been in the Apartment maintenance industry for about seven years. Many maintenance technicians think that they don't have to do the grounds because they think that is beneath them. To have a clean and efficient apartment property everyone has to pick up the grounds not just the Groundskeeper.
Yep! Everyone, supervisor included needs to be out there. It's the way I've always done it. Thank you so much for watching Russell!
I work at a country club, I've been working here for almost 4 years since I was 17 years old. Started off as a part time coat checker during the winter. once summer came around and I graduated high school I started working full time as a House Keeper. I pretty much do all of the same things in this video but add cleaning bathrooms and vacuuming/sweeping floors, and pressure washing patios and siding. Finally had enough and asked the head of maintenance to let me shadow him so I can gain more experience and be of greater importance to the company. I start my apprenticeship with him this following Wednesday. These last few days I've been watching videos nonstop about basic electrical and plumbing repairs. I cant wait to get my hands dirty with something other than people's trash Haha
Right on! Thank you so much for watching Pinocho!

Well done on the vidéo. Just 1 thing .. never push down garbage in a garbage can with your hands bud. You never know, there could be à seringe in there.

Man I'm impressed OBSKIDWANKANOBI! You dont know wow frustrated I get coming into work monday mornings and see trash blowing thru the parking lots trash piled up at the dumpsters and mail trash overflowing even after the guy on call is supposed to take care of these things over the weekend. Our property isn't as big as yours but guys think that since the office dont open till 10 and theres no1 else to keep a eye on them it's a license to slack off. You know sometimes team w9is more than doing what your told it's doing your job and not being told to do so. If everyone just handled their business stress would be down kn monday mornings. I could go on for hours but it made me really feel good to see you The Skid master Lex Vance doing the damn thing! Keep on doing wat you do brother and much love and Respect! You are the 💣.com!!!
Thank you so much for watching Anthony!
You are awesome bro!!! Not too many people have that attitude. Do you have a degree?
I just graduated with a Mechatronics degree and I will be working industrial maintenance at the BMW plant. Im super excited. Im by no means a young buck. 33 years old and 10 years in the Army.
I say all of that for a quick background on me since I am asking about you. Thanks for this bro!
No I never went to college or trade school. Spent my early life in the music business as a guitar player. Got tired of living in a van out of a suitcase so I came home and got a real job.
Thank you so much for watching C Bretz!
The mail trash overflowing is also a nationwide problem lol
👍😆👍 good to hear from you Scorpio!

I read some of the comments. 192 units not bad. The last one I worked at was 444 units by a college. I was the lead had one asst. 1 make ready 1 porter and a hskpr. It was fairly new but mostly college students! They were PIGS and destroyers. Too much stored anger is my guess. Averaged 35 to 40 move outs per month. Paint and carpets were contracted. We had a stupid 1000 gallon aquarium in the office and had to feed the salt water fish.(many died of overfeeding) I was making 25/hr but even that wasn't enough for as busy as we were. When they built it I found out the electricians wired a lot of the units to the wrong ones and there was no way to fix that.Ask me how I figured that nightmare out. I told the manager about it and of course in one ear out the other. I told her electricity can never be turned off to units on move out. Residents were paying for other units electric. Imagine having a 30.00 (vacant)electric bill one month then 200 the next. It was a mess. I couldn't work like that plus all the micromanagement BS. Our main office was based in Florida. I was in Texas. 20 years Lead. Good Luck Bud! Oh, and that compactor had trash like that every single effing day.Retired in 2013. Of course we all have lots and lots of nightmare stories to tell, and I loved working maintenance!
Right on man! I did 8 years in student housing. Went through 8 turn seasons that go down in August. Good times for sure! Thank you so much for watching Yellowdeer!

I've done maintenance for years and I've seen it all. I've seen an apartment left FULL of stolen items from a tenant on the run, an apartment that was never occupied because a politician using it for the address only and sadly one of my favorite tenants suicide aftermaths. But the best (no sh*t) 3 hot foreign exchange chicks from Sweden who happily sat around the apartment topless. ;)
👍😆👍 Awesome! Just making memories. Thank you so much for watching Tim!
In 3 1/2 years of being a maintenance technician, I never, ever, picked up trash around the property nor did I empty trash bags. That's why they have porters. 335 units, we had 2 porters, 3 maintenance technicians and 1 maintenance supervisor.
That's awesome! I wish we had porters. Thank you so much for watching Ruben!
On 335 units jeez that’s a lot of man power!
Pay someone to come in one weekends just to check trash chutes. Folx will do that.
Like the work, but don't like all the murder for hire attempts on my life. This industry is stacked with cold blooded killers. Trying to get out of this business as it's been detrimental to my health on at least 6 occasions. Trying to do my own business, but cut short at every turn. An the entire system is attempting to veer me back into a contract to continue this great work with this killas
Right on. Thank you so much for watching!

I would pay to have my dryers vent into the breezeway. Ours are out the front and back of the buildings. 2nd and 3rd floors are pretty damn high. Sucks completely having to clean the lines and replace the covers with a big ass heavy ladder.
Yea, that sounds rough. Thank you so much for watching Ken!

Being a grounds keeper is hard for me living pay check to pay check. Not to mention nobody ever appreciates the hard work I do. lol I'm wanting to quit so bad. But I lack good job history so I can't .
I hear that. I started out at $8.00 an hour. Then, I started studying how I could provide more value. I found that if I started fixing things, I could bring more value & get paid more. Now, I'm over $20.00 an hour. I discovered that we can have more than we've got by becoming more than we are. And the other side of the coin says, if we don't change how we are, we'll always have what we've got. Thank you so much for watching Gro!

Wouldn't putting a thermostat with a warmer in the oil so you don't have to reset the compactor be a better way? I know you said a big ol pile of job security but 🤷🏼♂️
Yea that would be nice. We don't own the equipment though. So, the owners would need to do it. We've told them many times & they say there's nothing they can do. Thank you so much for watching Shaun!
I think I'll like this just need help getting a job so I can get my CAMT Cert. Any advice? I'm in maintenance now for the city but it's only maintenance on parking meters.

You make me cringe watching you push the garbage down with your hands. I've seen a coworker get stabbed with a hepatitis infected needle, he had to go through the treatment. I keep a shovel on my cart. And push down the trash. I'm a supervisor and I still enjoy cleaning the grounds at 630am. Have a coffee with me. Just enjoy the morning before the techs get there. Just very peaceful :) God bless happy new year my friend!
