- In this Video Editor Reacts, I react to NSYNC - Bye Bye Bye. In this NSYNC reaction, I not only talk about editing and production insights, but react to the music video as well. 13 years ago (I know the song is older than that. It was just posted on CZcams 13 years ago), NSYNC would have blown my mind with this music video!
Bye Bye Bye is such a hit song and the music video was just as good! I can't wait to react to more NSYNC in the future!

There is no argument. JC is the lead singer and best singer out of all the Boybands.
You’re right- there is no argument, but the answer is JT. JC’s vocals obviously did a lot of heavy lifting, but he was at the forefront for the first album only. The album covers alone are proof of this.
@@nikig2382wrong. They had just as many leads on the other two albums. Just that the little girls liked JT because he was the youngest and they thought he was cute. Had nothing to do with vocals or dancing abilities. Now on a few singles they released Justin was more in the front but not on the albums as a whole.

So JC has one more song, but he also wrote all of the ones he’s lead on except for This I Promise You. It’s also important to look at who opens and closes a song, and more often than not it’s JT (but not always). I’ll do Celebrity later, but I think we all know what happened there lol.

In conclusion, there is a lot more trading off than I remembered, but it’s still fairly clear who had the reins at this point. It’s worth noting that JT co-wrote half these damn songs, but if you asked Joe Schmoe off the street between 1999-2001 who the lead was, they would almost certainly say JT…and that speaks volumes.
You can have songs without JT but u can't have songs sang without JC that is a fact 😁
Just so you know- They actually built a rotating room for them to perform in. It was one of the first ever built for a video. That is how Justin is sliding up and down the walls in the background. The room was truly rotating.

The rotating room is obviously not new - it has been I’m used in movies since the 1950s and it may be older than that. But is this the first time one was used in a music video?
It was released in January 2000 which means was recorded in 1999
They had done a behind the scenes on how they did this video and the moving room was sooooo cool

Actually, there is a "making of" for this video, and they made a box that rotated to film the scenes in the blue box. Technique has come a long way!

By the looks of your enthusiasm (and dance moves) I'm guessing we are roughly about the same age, and watching this was way too entertaining & nostalgic. You should do more of these late 90s and early 2000s music videos, just for fun. Some Backstreet Boys next, maybe...? Or Madonna, she had some great videos back in the day.

Their first song in 22 years "Better Place" is coming out next Thursday.
The making of the bye bye bye music video is a very interesting watch as well, itd be fun to see your reaction to it. It doesnt show any real editing process, but its very impressive to see what they could accomplish back in the day in 2000. That blue room, for example, was an actual structure they built on set that rotated, so them sliding around and stuff was all legit, no green screen, its quite impressive. 😊
The video to "it's gonna be me" is equally impressive.
Great reaction video! I don’t know if anyone else explained this in the comments or not, but there is symbolism to the strings in this video. In real life the boys from INSYNC had to cut ties from their manager at the time, Lou Pearlman. He was stealing money from them. That is what they mean by “no strings attached“. The girl in the video was just a symbolism of Lou dangling the boys like puppets. During their very first year they work their butts off, and by the time they were ready to get paid for all their hard work there was hardly anything to show for it. The boys looked into it, eventually found out the person that they trusted the most, which was Lou, was stealing from them. It was a pretty big deal because he was also managing other bands as well, The Backstreet Boys. This is basically INSYNC breaking away and going out on their own. The girl chasing them in the video was a symbol of their old manager trying to prevent them from doing so. I know there was also a lawsuit where the boys had to fight to keep their name INSYNC so this video is a play on all of that.
That made total sense now. lol I still love Nsync to this day.

@@Videoeditorreacts yeah, I don't even think Vevo was a thing 23 years ago, and we all know CZcams wasn't a thing 23 years ago. Vevo decided to finally upload older videos probably about 13-15 yrs ago. Not sure. CZcams came out around 2004-2007 I think.

There is actually a video of how the video was done. You may want to look it up if you haven't already. I believe the room rotated and they were nailed to the walls or something. I forgot. The changes you said you would've made most likely wouldn't have worked backed then. I mean, I don't think it would've been appealing at the time.

This was done in 2000 so more like 23 years ago not 13. This song symbolized them getting away from their first manager. The album being called No Strings Attached also symbolizes them no longer being under shady contracts that were robbing them. Lance barely sings anything. Justin and JC are the leads but more so Justin.

Bye Bye Bye was actually one of the first songs I downloaded to my phone at like 13...it didn't stay there long thos, cause I was listening to it so much that it got overplayed for me, but definitely is a bop

It's so fun and weird how 'cool' is cyclical. This video feels cheesy and dated, but modern K-pop videos look a LOT like this. Obviously the effects are better; but the random 'cool set for dancing' bits, the wide angle low cameras, the sci-fi movie costumes and color grading... all stuff that vanished between the 00s and 10s but is now thoroughly cool again.

Lead singers, technically and officially were JT and JC. It is widely acknowledged, though, that JC had the best vocals.
I’m only a couple minutes into your review, but I think you need to watch the making of the video for Bye Bye Bye. I think it’ll clue you in on what’s going on. I appreciate you for coming in blind without knowing anything, but please do some research before posting another Nsync video. Sorry for being so direct, but I get very defensive about “my” boys even 23 years later.

well... If you're doing boybands now, you should def do some one direction. Most of their video's have pretty interesting behind the scenes as well.

The singer you are talking about is JC Chasez, not Lance. Lance is the blonde and sings bass. JC has the best voice, Justin is a close second.
