Even if people see Parvati as the mother of the world, for my part Aditi is the ultimate mother goddess revered since the most ancient times, Aditi is the source of unlimited energy is the basis of life on earth and of all creations, she is the matrix and synthesis of all things, she is Mulaprakriti the mother nature and encompassing, she is Devamayi "the soul of the gods" she is Akasa "time and space" she is Vak the mystical word, the earth is considered the womb or womb of mother goddess Aditi, Aditi is those who are born and those who will be born, mother of gods powers Mitra the sun god, Varuna the moon god, Indra the thunder god, Agni the god of fire, she is the goddess of wealth, the provider of light and good fortune, she goddess who protects us from our enemies and removes our sins, Aditi is Lajja Gauri the goddess of fertility, Bhuvaneshwari the mother goddess and the mistress of the three manifested worlds, she Matangi the goddess excluded and of speech, she is Mahamaya, Viraj, Devamata, Aditi is the cycle of cyclical rebirths, she is beyond all and unlimited which manifests in many aspects and keeps her aspect, Adi-Shakti is a form of power of the goddess Aditi even if Parvati took over many characteristics of Aditi, Aditi is the mother of everyone and the queen of the universe, in the Puranic texts the Vedic and ancient identity of Aditi was forgotten and the goddess Parvati was recognized in the role of Aditi, without Aditi life is impossible and all forms of life come to an end.
@being shaiv Even if you say this is false information let me tell you or even teach you your religion the gods of Hinduism or Sanatana Dharma are relics or see even reinterpretations of ancient gods and goddesses from the earlier belief of the Vedas, Prajapati / Brihaspati = Brahma, Indra / Varuna / Mitra / Surya / Vishnu Vedic = Vishnu Puranic, Rudra and Agni = Shiva Puranic.
Going back to Parvati because she is considered the universal mother of the whole world, Shaktism declares it loudly, except that many elements come to question this assertion, because just as Shiva is a combination between Rudra and Agni, his wife Parvati also derives from several other ancient goddesses like Aditi, Danu, Prishni, Rudrani, Bhavani, Sarvani, Agnayi, Nirriti etc.
To understand I will take as a basis Rudra from the Rig-Veda, Rudra is the face or precursor of Shiva, himself bears several names in earlier Sanskrit literature such as Ishana, Agni, Mahadeva, Pashupati, Ugra or Bhima, Sarva, Bhava, Ashani, Manyu, Kala, Bhairava, Shani, Brahman.
Even I would also like to say that Shiva is a name of Rudra in Vedic literature, whereas today the reverse has happened Rudra is considered by all Hindus to be an incarnation of Shiva or an alternative name for Shiva.
Shiva in the Rigveda does not designate a god but the epithet of Rudra which qualifies him as auspicious, whereas normally Lord Rudra is ruthless he inspires fear and strikes down anyone with his third eye, but Shiva is the personality of Rudra who sees him as a giver of good fortune, who loves his devotees and grants them the best blessings, there are in the Vedic literature many rites in order to pacify Rudra and not to make him hostile towards the summoner and I have could understand that the name Rudriya was often granted to him rather than Rudra which inspires terror.
So then the names of Rudrani, Bhavani, Sarvani, Durga, Kali and even Shakti are names that define Rudra's wife his central part, Rudra's wife is not called Parvati, but Prishni or Vak which refers to the goddess of eloquence, beauty and speech, she is also the divine mother cow who brings down her milk of knowledge on every living thing.
In the Rigveda period the wife of Rudra has many names, Vak, Danu, Aditi, Prithvi, Tara, Durga, Kali, Ratri, Rudrani, Bhavani, Sarvani, Agnidurga, Sarasvati, Mahadevi, Mahimata, Agnayi etc, just like the wife of Indra, Shachi, Indrani, Senani, Prasaha, Devarani, Aindri etc.
The origins of Durga are clearly expressed in the Vak Suktam of the Rigveda also called Devi Suktam - Rigveda 10.125.3 - 10.125.8.
In the same Veda we find pointed reference to Durga as the universal mother goddess Vak.
It is mentioned that the gods generated Vak or Madhyamika Vak for the welfare of mankind in the same way or in Indian legends the gods generate that woman who will become Durga or the primordial Shakti - Rigveda 8.100.11- Devīṃ vācam ajanayanta devās tāṃ viśvarūpāḥ paśavo vadanti | sā no mandreṣam ūrjaṃ duhānā dhenur vāg asmān upa suṣṭutaitu ||
The gods produced the goddess Vak; she makes animals of all kinds; may she, Vak, the cow who gladdens all, who gives food and drink, come to us, worthily praised.
This matches exactly with later legends of Durga emerging from the combined energies of all the Devas, to fight the buffalo demon Mahishasura.
Again where I allow myself to intervene is the legend tell of Rudra in the Rigveda which mentions Rudra emerging from all the Devas to punish Prajapati, here there is the germ of Durga through Rudra, because here Prajapati and Mahishasura appear like the great Ego who are kill by Rudra and Durga.
Durga also appears as the power or tongue of Agni or Rudra the lord of fire, in the famous Durga Suktam of the Rigveda we see Agni being described as the lord who removes obstacles and us who through the roughest waters, here Durga appears as Agnidurga goddess of fire which connects her to Agnayi the wife of Agni who is actually Rudrani the wife of Rudra, in later versions we see Rudrani or Durga reappearing again to fight the demon Ruru.
In short, there is so much to say instead of saying that I am teaching false things to people informed you about your religion and especially its evolution, because Shaktism basically comes from the Rigveda and was personified during the period of the 'Atharva-Veda, Hence, Devi Mahatmya merely makes Vedic myths of Rudra and the Rudras more feminine.
The Gandharva Tantra itself traces Shaktism or the Goddess cult to Atharva-Veda and Atharvanism, the Vedic Cult of Magic,
Astrology and Yoga, hence it's continuation of these practices from Atharva-Veda and
Brahmanas in the Tantras! Moreover, the chief Atharvan deity was Rudra or Fire and the
Rudras, cognate to Durga and the Mahavidyas of Tantra, hence the Devi cult was a reflection of the Vedic Atharvanism and the Tantras reflections of the Atharva Veda and it's Brahmanas and mantras, rituals etc.
Dadhyak, the chief Atharvan deity is the
headless God and also the yajna or sacrifice, cognate to Chinnamastaka of Mahavidyas or Shaktism, and both relate to Hum or Fire-mantra and forms of Fire.
Dadhyak is also a Marut or Rudra as
Chinnamasta is a Dakini, Yogini or Rudrani,
form of Devi.
Moreover, in places in S.Indian Tantric sects, Kali, Bhairavi and their related forms are actually called Atharvani meaning 'Female Fire Priest' or Atharvan deities - which again connects us to them.
