Episode 25: Okay so you move with wasd
Bump
Nikhil C it’s not reddit (don’t woosh me I get the joke)
Episode 46 (I think): Okay so you can get cobble with water
I thought I accidentally went back to episode 1
LMAO
Me, a Minecraft veteran, playing since Alpha: I know basically everything about this game
Also me: I'm going to watch a tutorial series because I like this guy's voice
Same, this is some soothing stuff right here.
Sadly I don't have java yet, hoping to get it today!
#relatable
DarkHumor131 OH MY GOD! I thought i was the only one
We're a little fanclub here
remapping the "Q" Key to "P" helps me greatly not throwing my sword at enemies all the time ;)
Yeah, it's not a bad idea! I remember accidentally dropping stuff a lot in the early days. It's even worse on console - I fumble with a controller way more often than I do on a keyboard.
The only remapping I've done is setting up the F8 key for Cinematic Camera, and rebinding the F5 "change perspective" key to 'R' - but that's a CZcams thing. It makes it more accessible for intro/outro segments.
I use G like "give"... that's easy to remember for me :-)
I use Alt (or Z on bedrock because it doesn't take Alt as input). This way I can still ctrl-drop with relative ease. But yeah, it's too easy to accidentally Q your sword or whatever.Especially when you actually meant to press 1.
I use my Q for sprint, while Tab for dropping and Alt for player list
I use R over Q and G over to F5. The only reasoning is that I can't command+Q on mac (it closes the game) and I have to press Fn as well as F5 to go into 3rd person.
(I play java on both Windows and Mac but I keep the controls the same.)
I personally like to have a bucket of water in the ninth slot of my hotbar and have the ninth slot remapped to C instead of 9 so I can quickly switch to a bucket of water in the event I get set on fire or fall into lava.
Man you genius thx (ᵔᴥᵔ)
Wait you can actually change the number key? that will be really helpful, thanks
Or fall out of powdered snow, thanks to the new update in 2021 lol
I find the 2 buttons on the side of the mouse set to slot 1&9 is very useful for quick reactions...
@@blackeye5473 Definitely! That's what I have my controls set to now. Many computer mice don't have those buttons, and when I initially made this comment, I didn't have a mouse that had the extra buttons. I do have a quality mouse now, but if somebody doesn't have such a mouse, C and V work great as they are close within reach of the WASD keys and the spacebar.
I've played Minecraft for years and even I have learned a few things. Thank you!
Brawl stars lol
You play brawlstar?
I love watching the guide while playing minecraft alone feels like having company!
Alexios Neophyte ur not the only one lmao
Sameeeeee
Yep
Sad but true
Same with meh
If anyone is wondering, to change (remap) actions to different keys, you have to go into the game settings and scroll until you find the action you want.
Also, I don't think Pix covered this, but you can change your highlighted inventory slot by using the mouse scroll wheel instead of the number keys.
Good catch! I forgot to mention the scroll wheel, but I figured most people would know about that already. Good to have it here in the comments, anyway.
Fun fact: My friend who has played Minecraft since the Beta days, didn't know about the scroll wheel trick till we played on his server one day. I started playing in 1.6.4.
How do you change it from the number keys to the mouse scroll? The number keys are just too annoying to try and change quickly.
@@brittonlarsen9955 I don't believe you have to remap anything, just move the scroll wheel and you should move along your inventory. (I don't know if this is the same for java, I play bedrock)
@@SmerkyRandomised it is the same for java! No need to remap anything--i tend to prefer the scroll wheel for navigating the hotbar, with few exceptions
The Q button to drop the item you are holding is the FIRST button I reassign to ANY other key keeping it AWAY from my navigation buttons - you will do the same once you toss your Efficiency V Fortune III Mending Diamond Pick into lava by accident - move that Q key right away. Mine resides on F12
MeshMN ironic how while i was watching this i dropped my sword into lava while stripmining (sharp 5 kb 2 fire 1 and unb 3) even though my drop key is on Z. my stupidity is unbelievable
and unbreaking 3
@@JoetheGamer unbreaking 3, not unburning 3 xD
Mine gets on backspace. Makes more sense for me!
I always accidentally throw away my diamond enchanted pickaxe instead of walking forward lol. I'll rebind the key
These videos don't get enough views
These comments dont get enough reads
It takes about a hour
If you think this series deserves more attention, share it around! Word of mouth is super important for any CZcams channel, regardless of the size.
@@Pixlriffs you should promote on HC recap!(if you don't already) cuz recap is super popular
I also think that these comments don’t get enough reads!
Edit: And they don’t get enough edits
14:00 be carfeful in Bedrock Edition (Win 10 Ed.) because the system is crafting ALL directly when shift clicking in the recipe book!!!
I love this series. I'm still learning things about this game after so many years!
Great episode. I learned quite a few things. I'm even bookmarking it, so I have a reference. Thanks, Pix!
I completely had forgotten about middle click (since I started my a Magic Mouse that didn't work for that). Thanks for a nice guide :D
I’ve been playing pocket edition for a long time and I might get java so this is a really great tutorial! :D
Same here
Same aswell.
Same here!
Bought a laptop today with my own money :)
Thank you!!!! I’ve been playing for about 8 yrs and I just switched to keyboard & mouse. I was having a rough time because I was doing things so slow but your video came in clutch and help me out tremendously
Extremely useful - IVe found the answer for my question about how to pick up and move same blocks from a chest to the inventory with only one click ;) thanks!!
Me too. Or rather pick up every one of the same item in a chest in one go, if that's what you meant...
Loooool
The inventory quick keys are going to save me years! Thanks man! Specially the double click to gather the loose scattred items like in sunken ship chests, saving me from drowning taking the items one by one!
I've been playing Minecraft for over 5 years now and I didn't know that middle clicking would ignore enchanted items. I also didn't know you can click on the names of the screenshots in chat to open them.
Love your style of videos Pixlriffs, keep it up!
Videos like these really help and deserve more views
Playing with mouse and keyboard, I've always found it a bit difficult to reach the "5" and beyond keys for the hotbar.
I ended up remapping the nine slots to [q, 2, 3, 4, f, x, v, g, r]. With a little practice, it works ok. Throwing out items is now "1" for me. No longer do I throw away stuff when reaching for that number one slot.
Good series, by the way. This is probably one of the more helpful episodes for new-ish players. Looking forward to the continuation.
Kjetil Hvattum I just use scroll wheel it’s just quick and handy
Scottishdog How do you change it?? I go into my controls but how do I set it as the mouse wheel?
Britton Larsen you can do it automatically I think
@@brittonlarsen9955 You don't have to. The scroll-wheel works automatically, no matter what keys you have set.
Very handy. You can at any time choose between scrolling, or pressing a button, to select one of your nine hotbar slots.

I love the fact that I’m a Minecraft veteran, yet didn’t know half of the stuff you mentioned (except for the f3 of course), you also deserve a lot more views and subscribers
As some of the others here I changed around my controls and find that it might be important to note that use of shift in the inventory ist not dependent on what key is used for crouch.
Considering when I first start using computers and playing games on them (DOS and Commander Keen) it's probably reasonable that I find navigating by keys generally more comfortable. It's actually one of the things I like about Minecraft.
This was so good, many helpful tricks here! I feel like some of these things will save my life some day. Seriously I do need better control of the game, tried to get myself elytra, died twice. Suprising things make me just smash all the buttons...
Yeah I've definitely had a few moments like that! Creepers and skeletons still jump-scare me from time to time
I only figured out about half of this. I'm so glad this video exists! One mechanic that gets overlooked is that you if you jump, and then attack right as you land, it's a critical hit. Took forever to figure that out
i was having trouble with the controls but this video really helped me, thanks! 👌
I love how many episodes are coming out lately!!
Three years later and still a clutch video! Thank you! Subscribed and liked
I am to date with these series and I still comeback to these episodes to emind myself things. This survival guide is really helpful for newbies like me who have recently purchased mc... Anyway Pix, Thnx a lot and lots of love from India ! @Pixriffs
This vid was extremely helpful!Just watching this I felt more advanced already
Thank you so much, it's really nice of you making a long video just for beginners :D
As someone who only this month bought java version ive been so confused when watching tutorials showing some of these tips. Thank you soooo very much!
this is the best minecraft guide ive seen in a while (coming from someone who's last time playing mc was on console 3 years ago)
I've been playing minecraft for many years. I'm moving from a PS4 console to a Mac. This was extremely helpful.
Well I never knew that if we open our inventory while crouching on the edge of a block, we fall down. Thank you. This really help me to make bridges in nether. Love you
4:45 BIG SIDE NOTE: in creative mode, doing the shift+click can lead to an inadvertent shift+double click which literally deletes EVERYTHING in your inventory/chest/etc (verified in 1.14, not sure about 1.15 yet)
Thank you for this series. This video in particular is very useful.
I heard the sheep in the background at 13:34 and thought it was noise coming from the TV on downstairs... Took me a few seconds to catch up there.
I am so glad for this episode
Been playing this game for years and didn't know some of this, haha! Thanks for putting this out there.
Thanks man, you saved my time :-)
How has he not hit 1 million subs youtube is broken
This video helped me a lot so thank you!!! I’ve always played on a ps4 so now that I play on pc I’m not very familiar with all of the controls so this video helped me a lot!😊
Thank you so much this really helped me out. I’m struggling so much with controls as a newbie and really needed a guide.
RinsWaifu I just got Java yesterday and I’m so bad 😂 you posted that a year ago and how much better do you think u r now? I just need a lil hope😭
@@jaelyn6122 I haven't played in months, but I'd say kind of better...? LOL
RinsWaifu LMAO ok thank you😂
@@celardoorhorse i definitely did get better haha! although i’m always changing up and bettering my controls i would say once you find controls that work best for you and stick with it for awhile you will see changes😅
Very helpful! Minecraft is the first keyboard and mouse game I've ever played, and I want to try playing other games after I get my bearings too!
Helpful video.Thanks bro
Thanks for helping me a lot! PixIriffs!

What does /clear do? (I don't have java)
Thanks for the tutorial ;)! Its really helpful!
I just got java and I needed this. Thank you.
This was very helpful THANK YOU ! 😁😁
I just love the Minecraft Survival Guide series!
Very useful thank you 👍
This video helped a lot. Earned my sub
SOOOO HELPFUL cuz you show witch button it is, thx for the tips and keep it up i likee it
One thing you forgot to cover in this vid, was making for an eksample an oak fence when you have the possibility to make a spruce fence and you wan't to choose oak pretty fast without having to wait for the book to scrole to oak gor you. Then you could just *Right click* I think, to see all the avaliable wood types to make fence off. Or if you have the chance of using a rose bush or a poppy or rose, to make a red dye. Then you can choose by yourself of which you want to use.
Super helpful to change the hotkeys that are out of reach of the default position (7, 8, 9, and maybe 6) to something a bit closer to your hand to make it easier
Thank u so much, this helped a lot!
This helped a lot thanks
I’ve been playing Minecraft for 8 years and never tried Java I finally got it a few days ago and this really helped me in my playthru
thanks to this video bro! this will help a lot!
this is so helpful!! i’m a console player completely new to pc gaming and this is exactly the video i was looking for thanks brobro
Thank you I'm new to java edition so this has helped a ton.
I'm new to minecraft and this REALLY HELPS!
Love it, thanks. Just got mc on pc so I appreciate it alot
This is a very detailed and great guide new players! Would recommend to everyone!
As somebody who is taking the shift (no pun intended) from console to PC this is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thank you!!!!
Thank u soo much u really helped me and all of the people who.watched it as well
really nice guide 😃👍🏻
Soo thankful for this video 🙏
this really helped because i dont know all the keybinds of minecraft. thank you sooo much
this was so helpful
bud you've just earned yourself a new subscriber
I play a little differently. I use Q for inventory, E to sprint, T to drop the item, and Enter/Return for chat. In modded, I rebind the number keys to various Change Mode or GUI Access functions depending on the mod, since I never use those for their intended purpose anyways; I use the mouse wheel to navigate my hotbar.
Oops didn't know about the inventory slot number thing... I've always used the scroll wheel :B
I should have watched this video years before! So helpful! Thx!
I usually only play bedrock but I recently got Java and was having issues figuring it out youre a life saver! 😂
Nice vid really helped me out for a new minecraft player
Thanks for helping me and i know that you helped lots of others
Omg thanks so much this really helped me man
Thanks for the info. Very helpful.

Thats why i love playing minecraft on ps4.It atleast shows the controls on screen.I only play minecraft on pc for multiplayer. Thanks for the guide it was well explained. :D
Most useful video everrrr!
Awesome vid tysm i had no clue about a lot of this stuff damn
thank you so much this helped a lot
Hi, it's your blind follower again! I've been playing Minecraft for most of a month now and have been able to manage fairly well thanks to all the mods. Still have so much to learn, of course, but that's what your guide is here for, even if a few bits here and there are outdated. These things happen when the game is always being added to. :)
if you're not good at sneak with shift,f key is good to be alterative choice and use instead of r to swap item between hands
this is the most useful video!!
You mentioned F3 - but didn't mention what F3 offers additionally. It says it at the bottom of the F3 output though, F3-Q for help which shows all the additional things, like F3-H which you used already to show the durability of the items. :)
Ah F3+H it is! thanks
And I just found out about F3+G yesterday! So useful for afk-ing around farms.
Thanks allot !!!!!!
thx man this is really good for pvp games ur getting a like
At 3:55....Thank you! I've been wanting to know how to quick move!
Thank you
The video was so informative
This helped me alot because i just got a keyboard and mouse on my new ipad thanks alot bro
nice i found it reaally help full
Thank you so much!!!
This was a good video I loved it it helped so much
Nice video, lots of tips many players could find useful. Something I was hoping to find and didn't was how you are able to launch yourself into flying with your Elytra from the ground. I have seen you and other Let's Players do this seemingly with ease. However, I find it very difficult to do without using a drop of a few blocks....
