Thanks for this...although you may want to add some voice to the video - that stupid clip took me like 20 minutes to get in, and for those that don't know - THE BULB SITS IN THE SOCKET IN THE LIGHT SWITCH 1 WAY WHICH HELPS WITH THE REINSERTING OF THE CLIP !!!!! ----
I'm kinda glad your did not make the clip look easy. Every time I replace these bulbs I spend at least a half hour this my hand in that tiny space fingers practically bleeding trying to get the clip to do what I want it to. You didn't struggle nearly as much but it gave me some satisfaction to know that it was not just me who struggles with it.
For the American Mazda 5, the bulb plugs need to both be vertical, as in the plug will be sideways when plugging it in (one plug on top of the other, not side to side). The housing for the bulb has an indentation that will hold a bend in the clip and allow the clip to go over the housing and hold it tightly in place, then you will be able to push the clip all the way back into the housing the way it should be. Hope that helps someone out.
The clip that holds the lightbulb socket in place just may be the WORST idea in the history of automotive design. The brilliant engineers at Mazda certainly complicated what should've been a 3 second process into an hour of utter frustration... 2008 Mazda 5
I broke the clip attachment point trying to remove the clip. What a pain. Fortunately the rubber gasket MAY keep everything in place, but IDK. I suspect I will now have to replace the entire driver side headlight benzel. Clearly Mazda invented a time machine so they could hire 1970's American automotive engineers to design this thing.
One thing that helped me was to "rehearse" putting that clip back in first, without the bulb. Do it once first without the bulb to get a feel for it first, without the awkward part of having to also hold the fixture down in the socket and not being able to see what's in front of your hands well either. Thank you for the video ✓
100% agree with this advice, I practiced once or twice first before putting the H7 bulb in to the little cradle that the clip ultimately keeps in place. Made the whole re-assembly process much easier.
Yes, thank you! I'm a woman, and often replace the bulbs on my vehicles. After watching this and reading these comments, I decided that I needed to try putting the clamp back in on its own. As mentioned, you can't see what your hands are doing -- but also for me at least...to see if the amount of torque needed was something that I would be able to do alone, or if I would need to get the help of someone with stronger forearms. I was fine. I could see that the amount of pressure needed to re-insert the clip was not that much, it just tucks under -- and then once you do it again with the bulb, it's really about getting that bulb aligned in the notch correctly so that it lies flat in the groove. But anyone reading this for the first time -- do try to put the clip back in first for a trial run without the bulb...you'll see what we mean. A real time saver!
Great video it let me know what I needed to know for this particular vehicle 1 tip to pass along to anybody else that changes a bulb on any vehicle never touch the bulb with your bare hand because the natural oil in your hand will make the bulb burn out prematurely
@@TheIagosimulata not amber bulbs further more the older mazda fives have horizontal head light and blinks lights and the left side has the fuse box in the way.....they are nightmares to deal with.
I just did this on my Mazda 5. Two things: first the metal retaining clip goes over the black plug adapter. If you put it on over just the bulb first and will be too loose. This clip is very stiff and it is difficult to remove and replace, I couldn't do it with my fingers and needed pliers. Second, the retaining clip is too long and gets hung up on the inside of the headlight shell. This makes it 10x harder to replace the bulb. The solution is to cut a tiny bit off the end of the clip so there is clearance. DON'T cut too much or the clip will miss the part it hooks on.
Omg thank you so much, I did it... I watched your video and I checked my lights following your steps and everything is working great thank you so much!!!! 5 *****
That was super helpful - got to the retaining clip thing and would have been stumped without your video. Read some terrible things about changing the headlight on a Mazda 5 but was fine to do on the passenger side of my 2006 model. Cheers!
I could not unlatch the clip on my 2010 Mazda5. Took it to my mechanic friend and it took him a couple of minutes of wiggling (and he said he knew exactly ho the clip worked, but it was very hard to access).
Clear the leaves off your vents!!!! Why didn't you remove the air intake to your battery, there was a plastic piece you could remove to create more space

I think I know what you're talking about but can you please explain in detail what you mean? I will also be attemping this.
I will be making an addition video in the next 24 hours for this.
@@Chilnvillain let us know when you do! Trying to figure out if the little metal notch has a specific place to nest.
It does. It rotates in the headlight and sits in the groove.
That looked like a total pain in the ass, light most headlights today, they give you very little room for your hands.

I agree. Not sure what 2008 Mazda was thinking

same also 2008 mazda 5 here
And don't get me started on the cabin air filter.

Love my 5. Hate those lights. I have changed my own lights since '77... But these are the most difficult ever. Thanks for this.
Glad to help out thanks for watching

All bulbs 😁

Glad to see that i'm not the only one struggling with this stupid clip!
These are the dumbest headlights ever. I hate them.

Glad to help. Those retaining clips can be a pain sometimes

Thank you. I was about 30 seconds away from changing it with a freakin' sledge hammer!
You should be so happy it's not a vauxhall/opel astra headlight, the bloody thing is tucked away under the frixkin wheels
It's much easier if you remove the black electrical adaptor from the bulb first. Then install the bulb, secure the clip and then replace the adaptor.
I believe the clip goes on over the black adapter.
Why in the world would anyone leave the engine running while changing a bulb?
Thank you very much for posting this. I have been doing it sooooo wrong. Only cut myself once this time, thanks to your video.
Thank you for this , really helpful.

Thank you for the video!! helped us out last night lol
С галогеном всё просто. А вот с ксеноном придется с бубном побегать)
Those bulb housing clips are a real hassle! Every single time I replace a bulb I lose knuckle skin!
Thanks for the help on the clamp.
Thank you! Just what I needed 😊
But why dont you stop the engine?
For more electrocution.
My thoughts exactly.
That clip nearly made me sell the car ;-) its just stupid
🤣🤣
Some voice over would have been nice. Is it the same procedure for the other side? Mazda made it more complicated that it needed to be!
Lowbeam projektor bulb was h11 or h7?
I would love to shake the head of the Mazda engineer who came up with this headlight mounting system.

Thanks!
Thanks! Would've taken me all night and it's cold!
Happy to help
5 star
look like a dude trying to make it look easy making it look hard af LOL. thanks tho def helps
I thought you were not supposed to touch the new bulb because thè oil on your skin will blow the bulb.. or is this bullshit ..lol . Just asking
You're right, don't touch the glass.
No audio nice
Such a pain to put it back in
preferably do this with your vehicle off...
Note to self. NEVER buy Mazda
Fuc!$#! Clip!!
Bulb was h11 not h7....
H11 has the L-shaped plastic housing. This is definitely H7.
I don't think he'd done this before he' seemed to fumbling his way through and no verbal comments either.
This video would have been 2 hours long if he had never done it before.
Had no idea what he was doing did he. waste of time.
