I bought one, it’s a great feeling guitar but I’m having fret problems with it, so I will have to get a fret job soon, I have cancer for the second time so a lot of money and time goes into my treatment and medicine! sometime soon I will get it fixed!

I have one. It's great, IMO. I also have 4 Gibson USA SGs. This does not play, sound or feel significantly cheaper. It's fun, and I don't worry about it getting scratched up, or which stand I place it upon. People commenting about the bridge pup location need to know that it is correct for the model/year that it is attempting to copy.

The SG is a unique guitar, IMHO, as it is one where, if you plug it straight into any halfway decent amp (basically anything that costs more than $150 or so), and crank it up, you will have ap perfectly good rock/blues guitar sound. I'm not a fan of the neck dive, but having owned Les Pauls, Strats and SGs, the SG is my favorite for just straight no-nonsense rock playing.

Beautiful axe , and those P90s are 100% 🔥🔥🔥 the alternate sparkling burgundy color Epiphone offers on this model is nice too but like you i'm a huge fan of the pelham blue finish. I wish all guitar reviews were as honest and comprehensive as this, and to be fair for a $449 sticker price this is a great deal.

I got one of the Epiphone SG P-90 set neck classic's from American Musical supply. I ordered the classic red and they sent me inverness Green instead. For sending me the wrong color which I ended up liking better. They gave me 150.00 off the price and when I bought mine they ran 360.00 so I got it for 210.00 and it sounds and plays great. Now they are running 400.00+ . I did get the Gibson SG standard in Pelham blue with 57' humbuckers in it and it's a great guitar but for the price I don't find it to be all that much better than my Epiphones. On my Classic P-90 I put locking Kluson's that are close to period correct, I didn't like the tiny little knobs on the tuners. The Resale value of this guitar is around 250.00 The Gibson will be around a grand.

I wanted a guitar with P90's and was looking for a LP jr but, I found one of these online for $300. I jumped on it and although, you have to get used to its' feel, it's a fantastic playing guitar and the color is spectacular.

I really love the sound of a Les Paul, but the P-90's really sings!

I have the same model in sparkling burgundy and I love it. I too changed the tuners to Klusons because I wasn't that fond of the look of the original tuners. It's worth noting that the pickup spacing on the Epiphone SG Special is different than its (modern) Gibson counterpart. The spacing on the Epiphone features the bridge pickup placed further away from the bridge and therefore closer to the neck pickup - which alters the tone significantly (I compared it to my Epiphone Les Paul Special which has the bridge pickup closer to the bridge). I believe this spacing is more "vintage correct" as I noticed the 1960s Gibson SG Specials featured a similar spacing. Anyway, thanks for the review.

You all absolutely right. Place of bridge pu is effected a massive different sound of this SG, like the contemporary Gibson SG special P90. But this not problem just a different.

I recently bought one of these sgs new from sweetwater, first new guitar I have ever bought and I love it. I have a gibson sg as well and this epiphone is truly comparible, just a different vibe with the slim neck and p90s. no regrets! more people should try these out.

It would be nice to know what amp it's going into, and the settings / delay / reverb you are using. Tone is great, and your playing is fantastic, but hard to know how much of it is coming from that axe / P-90s, and how much is amp and effects without a description of your signal chain.

The custom shop places the pickups the same way (the old gibson sg had them placed like this) newer ones have the bridge pickup closer to the bridge to get more high end for a cleaner distortion sound

Gibson headstock look best on Gibson's this revision looks Best on Epiphone enough said dig up the history and accept the reality maybe if Les Paul's log guitar got done by Epiphone like intended in the beginning then maybe history might have been different I love this revision and I can live with the slight differences and now days you don't buy it just because it's the cheap poor version no it is what it is play it and get over the debate....
