    All exciting imagination-sparkling magic goes away - when you start understanding how games\movies\arts were done. It was good times, but curiosity line was crossed and now you start asking questions, looking for answers, figuring out things, this gives another kind of excitement and joy. Let's hear what Bobby's interpretation 'curse of knowledge' is :3c

    That is also the reason, it is now more important than ever to learn to distill the information, and get to know every site every teacher every anything out there, since there are now better ways to learn than years ago (schoolism, brainstorm, gumroad, youtube,all time great books, etc...) but there is also a LOT of not so good tutorials and people giving bad advice that develops into bad habits.
    Great Video Bobby

      So true! Having the ability to filter out the useful information from the not-so-useful info is crucial!! There is a lot of info out there that will do more harm to your learning than good, so it's really important to be aware of that and to avoid those unhelpful resources. Thanks for watching! :)

    Limiting the sources of knowledge to ones that really mean something of value to you has really proven to be more beneficial for me than window shopping everywhere - and you’ve really hit the nail on the head with how that can be good and how the inverse (having too much access) can be good or bad for you. Also, great painting!

      Thanks for the kind feedback, Daryl!! Those are great takeaways. It's important to find a good balance in the amount of information you consume and the sources that you get it from! Thank you for watching❤️

    This was a good reality check for everyone and a reminder to be picky, be discerning about what you spend your time and attention (and maybe your money) on, and who you look to for guidance and knowledge.

      This!!! With so many information outlets these days, it's so important to be diligent in your research and gain the ability to filter out what is useful and what isn't!

    I feel everything that you said. I am always looking for new books or classes that can teach me some new language or skill, but everytime I find I don't stay with the materials for long, it's hard for me to value something so I can truly understand from bottom to top, and with your video I see the real power of doing that, even if is not the right content that I wanted.
    I'm a bit obsessed with knowledge but at the same time don't value it enough so I can learn.
    Thank You Bobby. I think I found a precious channel, hopefully I will be able to learn it all with you. :)

    I'm at the age where I both experienced a world with no useful internet and a world with limitless information. Because of people who were passionate i am able to learn about art as much as I want whenever I want. I try not to take it for granted, but its hard not to.

    • @BobbyChiu
      @BobbyChiu  Před 3 lety

      Totally, it can definitely be hard not to take information for granted these days! It's everywhere, whether we're looking for it or not, and it can be hard to really step back and appreciate the resources that are available to us. One thing that we can do to show appreciation for the knowledge we consume is to share it with others! ❤️❤️❤️

    Wow that's deep. I remember putting together everything I had found Yoshitaka Amano had said about art and printing it out and thinking to myself that would be my art bible and I would exclude all other knowledge but changing my mind about it for reasons I don't really remember. I still wonder what my art would be like if I had done it that way.

    • @BobbyChiu
      @BobbyChiu  Před 3 lety +1

      Very interesting! There are lots of artists who have an "art bible" which they refer to more than any other book, but that doesn't mean that's the only book out there! It's always a great idea to check out other resources to see if there's something new out there you've never tried before. Thanks for checking out this video! :)

    Also-this might sound off the wall, but if you’re dying for a piece of cheesecake, eating a candy bar is sweet and filling and fattening, but it’s not the cheesecake. And now you’ve eaten that crappy candy bar, and you’re left still craving cheesecake.

  • @flat_foot9017
    @flat_foot9017 Před 3 lety

    Honestly, it is a little overwhelming with all the stuff around. If you follow/ subscribe to artists online, every week there is a new tutorial or a new online course. A new gumroad entry. A new art interview to watch or a 'what not to do when painting video'. You keep finding a new art book or a new rising to fame artist that you've never heard of before. Not being able to keep up is kinda sad.
    This may just be unique to me. I was really bummed out that I couldn't do all the subjects in high school. Similar feeling.
    Don't get me wrong, you're learning tons. But you're forced into a cycle of constant learning and if you take a break you put yourself behind

    • @BobbyChiu
      @BobbyChiu  Před 3 lety

      Totally! A lot of people will be able to relate to your example about high school. With all of the mandatory courses you need to take, there are only a few spaces left for electives and so many good ones you would like to do. A plus side to the huge amount of information available to us is that you are not limited to your schooling if you want to learn a subject! If you weren't able to take robotics in school, for example, you could learn about it online, and that's a great option to have even if you don't end up exploring it. Thanks for your comment and for watching this video! ❤️
