A capacitive Proximity Sensor has more advantages over an inductive Proximity sensor. As Capacitive sensors can sense wood, plastic, grease, oil, and metal as well and can replace traditional Level Sensors, Flow Switch with few modification in sensing arrangement @dineshdiwani
It can sense any material having a higher dielectric constant than air. The ability to sense any material like wood, glass, liquid, grease, oil, etc makes it a universal sensor to act like a level switch or flow switch, or position switch. It has an advantage over inductive proximity sensors to sense anything than only metallic objects.

Yes it only detects metal objects. Dust dirt grease not detected by it.

Capacitive Proximity usually have potentiometer to adjust capacitance change. While inductive proximity does not have one. If OEM information is printed and intact then no issue.

Sir let suppose mera ek 50Litr metal tank h ...mai capacitive proximity sensor ko bahrr tank k rakhne pr kya andrr ka Pani ka presence check kr payega? Please reply...metal sheet is thin as less 1mm

Whatever material comes in front of capacitive proximity must bring substantial change in dielectric... If metal sheet is thin with and without liquid is satisfying above condition then no issue. But metal has already high dielectric constant than plastic and other wood or anything material.

Is there any glass window to observe liquid level in tank? So that we can fix capacitive proximity over glass or so. You can seek alternative arrangements just to have capacitnace. Hope you got it

It is positioning tool method... Used in CNC machines...analog and digital is the method of feedback to transmit its position to controller...
For analog it uses 0-10 v and digital spindle uses encoder to detect position
