- Quilters Gonna Quilt [Stuck in Vermont 712]
Since 1979, the Champlain Valley Quilt Guild has been promoting quilting and
connecting crafters in Chittenden County. The almost 100-member group -one of about 20 quilt guilds across the state - gathers monthly and has made hundreds of quilts for various charities over the years.
The guild’s biennial show, “Seams Like Spring,” will be held April 26 through
28 at the Holy Family Parish Hall in Essex Junction. More than 100 quilts will be displayed, and a lucky raffle winner will take a quilt home.
Seven Days senior multimedia producer Eva Sollberger met up with guild
members when they gathered at a Burlington home ahead of the show. A longarm quilting machine took up much of the craft room, and Eva was allowed to give it a whirl, - although she couldn’t do much damage with no thread in the needle. The quilters worked on next year’s raffle quilt and spoke about their passion for quilting.

What is it about quilting? I’m addicted and just can’t stop. I love fabric and color and design and I hope to be quilting until I depart this earth. I wonder if we will be able to quilt in heaven. 🤔🙏🏼💕
It is definitely a fabulous community of quilters! Fabric, colors, patterns, love it all. Thank you for showing how small groups can be so fun.
This was so wonderful!!!!! My mother made us quilts and I so regret not sticking with it when she tried to teach me. A great interview and a group of women. I'm sooooo tempted to go the show because I've never been before!!!
What fun you ladies are! I quilt with 2 groups where i live. One group is in VA and the other group is in WV. Yes, it is a lot about the camaraderie and the sharing of techniques
My mother used to do quilts out of yarn. I certainly miss her.
