What Are the Seven Continents? | Facts about the seven continents for kids

Can you name all seven continents? And do you know something about each one? In this video for kids, we'll give you some fun facts and maybe a little history about each one. First, what is a continent? A continent is a landmass separated by oceans. In order of largest to smallest, you have Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia.
The largest continent is also home to the largest country, Russia. Asia boasts landmarks like Mount Everest and the Great Wall of China. Africa is next, and it's considered the Mother Continent because it is the oldest inhabited continent on earth. It's home to the longest river in the world, the Nile, which is over 4,000 miles long!
North America was named after Amerigo Vespucci. Canada is the largest country in North America, but the United States has the largest population. South America has a lot of cool history. Evidence of human life in South America dates as far back as 9,000 BC! Apart from Brazil, the main language is Spanish. Antarctica is almost completely covered in ice, and it's the windiest and coldest place on Earth!
Europe is home to the smallest country in the world-Vatican City. You could visit the Eiffel Tower and Big Ben if ever you go to Europe! Finally, Australia. Australia is both a country and a continent. It is considered the largest island in the world. It's home to the Great Barrier Reef, the largest and most complex reef system on the planet!
