dsk1317, you are absolutely right about that! After going back and reviewing the video, I failed to make that point about Mike covering into the deep 1/3. The base cover 2 rules I discuss in the video are derived by the "Tampa 2", in which the Mike LB helps the safeties by carrying the #3 up the seam and into the deep 1/3 (past 12 yards). This is exactly why the NFL is transitioning to athletic pass catching TE's, That seem route on the Mike is getting mighty popular. Another reason teams are looking for LB's that can cover. God I love football.

Lol I was wondering if you could do a video on 2 Seam, where the outside backers(or sub package personnel) carry #2/3, not the mike. I know the corners and safeties still have the same Tampa 2 assignments, but I'm not sure how it plays out versus trips. #HelpMeLearn ;)

Make sure the Y isn't covered up, he would be ineligible receiver. so no need to worry about him on a forward pass if he's covered up.
