He'll never be an old man river song by This is Serious Mum (TISM) a true Australian icon. This song is not my property and has been uploaded with lyrics for entertainment purposes.
Does anyone remember that Flea of red hot chilli peppers went rage storming through JJJ demanding they never play this again and was demanding to know who TISM really are and they had to tell him that no one actually knows who tism actually were in the real world
I didn't know that but I knew that Flea and River were pretty close so I'm not surprised lol. I love Flea but him and rhcp did a ton of drugs even after River died so he really should've looked at himself. The song isn't about River anyway
An all time Oz irreverent classic - came out at the time, mid 90s, when lots of people were dropping from that relatively cheap, extremely strong compressed hammer that was widely available back then.
@@DodderingOldMan i am guessing he meant the subliminal message of the song: wankers blindly follow celebs down the addiction path without a thought about the consequences. And when the consequences occur, they simply live vicariously through them. The irony now being that TISM nailed it. "Where will i get my next drug action? Odds on it'll be michael jackson." Their "truth" is essentially saying that it is not worth it. The band was always about being as satirical as possible.
Sad song. Always known it, just wanted the lyrics. River Phoenix, from all accounts, was just a really lovely human 💔 Being an aussie, im not surprised its an Ozzie song :(
90's punk rock dance tune in a similar "vein" as white lines by Grandmaster Flash, another one used by the prohibition/anti-drug campaigners that became drug anthems of sorts.
Just realised this track closes with a sound effect like a spinning wheel, like a lottery wheel. I think this cements the point they were making in this song - taking drugs is a risky lottery. Too many lives lost and ruined, it really is not worth fecking around with.
Loved this song when it first came out, and it's still fricken awesome to this day! Great mix of guitar and electronic to give a unique sound that still stands up strong today. Pretty sure most stations are too damn scared to play it now in case someone gets "triggered".
Yeah man, YWCA & since she was a lesbian there's no way she would have broken a prisoner out of Pentridge in a Helicopter; how long ago was that?? Interesting tit-bit, she looks somewhat like Amelie Maresmo; weather profile, craggyest ect. Remember the rifles 😎
one of the best bands i've ever seen live a couple of times in the 90's
Tell us- more!
@@beatsg i cant
Me and my mates played this tune at a anti drug high school battle of the bands when we were kids. Little shots we were
Same deal and our band was called LSD. for Lee, Shane and Darren🤌 the good ol days

@P. Murphy With all the swain gardens you put up it looks like you are mate lol
One of the best songs of all time!!!
This is how to tell people the truth about the world and the wankers living in it. They were like an earlier musical version of South Park
Nicely put!! 🍻😎🤘
I mean no insult, and I like this song, but what exact 'truth' do you see in this song?

You’re a clever clogs, aren’t you? It must have taken you years to work that out. Do you want a medal, or a brain to pin it to?
It's such a kickin' catchy song, too!

Good prediction on Michael, I suppose it's not such a stretch though. Little did they know you could also add Prince and Whitney to the list.
But Prince had AIDS and was on his way out already!
Odds on it’ll be Michael Jackson
I've been listening 4ever they make me feel good

When someone says something along the lines of "music today is a shit" show them crap.
Classic....
I have to say I can thank my ex fiance for showing me this band's music... Pure Aussie
I still sing this one I'm on the drug , I'm on the drug , I'm on the drug , I'm on the drug that
KILLED RIVER PHOENIX
Ralph retort sent me!
Your mother sent me to tell you, that dinner is ready.
This song is the best when you're dying because you're on drugs
Humor, satire, and some prophecy too (Michael Jackson reference...)
The got the MJ bit right.
I SAW HIS BODY THRASHING ROUND
I SAW HIS PULSE RATE GOING DOWN
I SAW HIM IN CONVULSIVE THROWS
I SAID I'LL HAVE ONES OF THOSE
We are not worthy...they are reforming.
Me love it
They were right about MJ just a few years late
Few years early*
They predicted it
Epic tune bruz. Also a slightly subtle what even is a noise gate

I CANT STAND PETER MINACK OR TISM.
Hilary had it in his veins... Epstein prediction?
and asked why ? Hillary's reply was ' because its there. ' to truely appreciate the nuance we look to education .
Edmund Hilary, the mountain climber. "Hilary had Everest in his veins" . Hilary was the first westener to Climb Mt. Everest.
It's "He already had" NOT "Hillary had", just spoken (sung?) really fast!
No offence but it is Hillary had Everest in his veins because the first person to climb Mount Everest’s last name was Hillary
Both you and the lyrics on the clip are wrong. Hillary had Everest in his veins.
Yeah cos that expedition they were on shit loads of amphetamine to combat fatigue and he even gave it to his Sherpa guides
