"What we are hearing now is quite dangerous": how Russians are burning Avdiivka to ashes

- Volunteer Oleksii Savkevych drives along Haharina Street, one of the central streets in Avdiivka. Although it is known as the "Mural Alley", now it is more like the Alley of Burns. Famous Ukrainian artists created a series of murals on the walls of the now-destroyed five-story building before the invasion. The first was "River of Life" by Oleksandr Brittsev. At this moment, the five-story building, on which the mural is painted, is intact, albeit with broken windows and gutted balconies. It was April 28 when we shot this video. A few hours later - in the evening - a Russian missile hit it. The central part of the building collapsed, and the mural burned on the left side.
It is the spring of 2023 in Avdiivka, a rapidly disappearing city.
Russian mines and missiles burn Avdiivka to ashes every day. Avdiivka, located next to Maryinka, Bakhmut, Severodonetsk and Mariupol, is turning into another Ukrainian city that no longer exists. We asked a volunteer from Avdiivka, Oleksii Savkevych, a doctor, Vitaly Sytnyk, and a police officer, Maksym "The Fierce", to show us how Avdiivka is disappearing before their very eyes and to tell what it is like to lose one's hometown.

Bok! I long dreamed to come back to BIH. Last time was 1995/1996. I served there. Bad memories but also very good ones. Bosnian Cevapcici (i am not sure how is spelled!) remained unmatched. I am so curious to see how the towns are changed after almost 30 years, Best regards.

very impressive video of hromadske, to see how strong these normal ordinary people are facing their actual day by day life, helping each other as far as possible, not giving up, doing their job as a haircutter, doctor,volunteer etc. It is pretty sad that it needs obviously a war to emphasize the real good sides of human kind, especially in the western world, I guess.God bless the brave ucrainian people !

What hit me the most in this report is how selfless the hospital staff are, as they could easily leave, but choose to stay for the civilians in the area

Some doctors and nurses left the country,or the workplace nearby the frontline. Hospitals are understaffed there and medics are often not really nurses but civillians who learned the important things in a crash course. It's not everything "heroic" in Ukraine,people are humans with anxiety and are also selfish.

We Americans can learn much from the people of Ukraine.
I love the lady in the Day Shelter who can color hair and says she takes care of the people and thro dogs, cats too I'm sure.
The compassion of the Ukrainian people towards God's innocent creatures is what made me fall in love with them from the start. Their compassion for helping any living being is their true nature.
It's impossible not to love these people. My heart literally hurts for what has been done to them.
I have read many articles about the plans to rebuild the cities. Using seized assets from Russian "businessmen" (Ha!) who've been sanctioned.
I have no doubt that the people in the free, moral world are going to be clamoring to go to Ukraine and help them rebuild EVERYTHING, homes, schools, hospitals, churches, etc.
I want the people of Ukraine to know that they have MANY people standing with and supporting them.
This war isn't just about Ukraine, it's about Putin's paranoia and greed. He's terrified of NATO expansions and he thinks America and the West is out to get him. Well, we weren't before but we sure are now.
"Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean we're not after you, Putin." Be afraid. Be very afraid, Putler.
We love our brothers and sisters in Ukraine and will cheer loudly with you as you claim your victory over wickedness.
The Lord is with you and will reward you for your strong faith.

Пишу вперше, але давно хотіла. Звертаюсь до журналістів. Моя точка зору.
Сьогодні рашисти обстріляли залізничну лікарню в Авдіівці. Загинули люди. Я, як колишня мешканка Донецької області, бачу закономірність- зняли репортаж про гуманітарний хаб, пункт видачі гумдопомоги, місцезнаходження ЗСУ та інше, - відразу прильот. Жертви, руйнування.
Я розумію, ви , військові журналісти, робите дуже важливу справу, ви безбашено хоробрі і вкрайнеобхідні. Війна,- це саме жахітнє що можна уявити, про це мусить знати увесь світ, кожна людяна людина, щоб допомогти всім чим може , щоб знищити п& рів оркостаців, які прийшли знищити все живе на нашій землі. Але благаю, не робіть такі "запрошуючі" репортажі для ворога. Наприклад я, впізнаю навіть по деревам і полю які в кадрі, де саме ця місцевість. Бо для "ждунів", яких дохрєна, як до речі і місцевих динири та линири це як ціль у тирі. Ви ненавмисне їм допомагаєте.
Будьте вкрай убачливими та проявіть свою професійність, відчуйте відповідальність своїх дій. Бережіть наших воїнів , людей та себе. Сосовно вашого питання щодо місцевих, - евакуюватися без сумніву. Цивільним не місце там , де " говорять" гармати, не заважайте військовим, не наражайте на небезпеку вашого життя та волонтерів. Не робіть подарунки для рашистів у вигляді найціннішого,- вашого життя, саме за цим вони і прийшли в наші домівки. Швидше визволимо, швидше відбудуємо!
Бажаю всім міцного і перемоги. Велика шана нашим воїнам, бережи їх Бог. Їм дуууже важко. Підтримуйте їх, як хто може. Як не вони і ми, то хто?
Тяжко дивитися такі кадри, знищеного міста, а люди які там працюють, ви герої, сил вам, здоров'я, миру, і щира подяка!

When Ukraine wins, the battered towns and villages will be rebuilt. People will come from all over the world to help. Not everyone can fight, but many people have skills to help rebuild. After WWII, Europe was rebuilt. It was hard to imagine London ever getting through it, where my father lived during the war, but they did. And you will as well. The people here are amazing. Thank you for this beautiful reporting.

Зараз треба розробляти нові технології по вторинній переробці будівельних відходів у будівельні матеріали. Впритул до залучення хіміків по розробці сепарації та відсіювання, цементного, пісчаного та гіпсового пилу. Це дасть великий потенціал уникнення утилізації та вироблення буд.матеріалів.
