If they are organic, the farm could have been using manure for fertilizer. This one of the common dangers with organic produce. If you are not using a walnut harvester, you typically knock the walnuts from the tree and pick them up from the ground. There is your possible source for contamination.
It’s certainly possible that the improper use of manure as fertilizer caused the walnuts to contain e.coli, but it’s much more likely that it came from processing the nuts. There are very strict standards for the use of manure on crops - basically it has to be composted or processed until it is pathogen-free.
Now stores will be terrified to sell any sort of walnuts, almonds, pecans, macadamia nuts, peanuts, pistachios etc. Too much litigation going on here in America, people are too quick to sue so they can get their big payday, something for nothing.
if u hadnt noticed, food is the next attack vector. to cause public panic, and drive the sheep to desire lab grown 'food'. many more reports like this will happen in next couple years...
Being an organic grower I knew immediately the possibilities since huge portion of organic farms use animal 💩 to fertilize. Even bat 💩 which to me is the scariest! Who knows wtf is in 🦇 💩?
@@SalVitroNY Proper compost does not have pathogens in it. Read Jenkins' "Humanure Handbook" on how it works when done properly. Yeah, if somebody cheats and puts raw manure on something, you can expect issues.
Children should not be eating any that you do not roast or bake in some dish. Roasted and salted would eliminate the risk. The farm source more likely comes from the humans who are not washing their hands than from deer. Adults have a great deal more immunity to eColi and are not as severely affected usually.
When I buy whole nuts (with their shell) like walnuts, pecan, almonds, I wash them (the ones that I am going to eat) with soapy water, dry them and then open them up myself, I use a "molcajete" (mortar). When I get those nuts and other without their shell I always toast them.
@@bruce8961 The ones with the shell I am the only one touching them (after washing and drying them) the ones without shell have some contamination risks but toasting them will remove most of it. Other risk with nuts is aflatoxins, well eating involves risks :)
Because things like seed oils, HFCS, cane sugar, fake heme and grains kill you slowly. It takes 6 years for seed oils to triple your risk for cancer. So the people making massive profits off the garbage can cover up the damage.
Hmmm... Few weeks ago ... i bought a pound of "walnuts in shell" @ Berkeley Bowl & surprised mee next day of "flash floods" reaction occured. Never heard of ECOLI in Walnuts before.
Yeah, that Nuts!
I keep thinking it’s purposeful
The water is contaminated with 💩
Some migrant laborers have been known to go in the fields, as well...maybe unwashed hands🐒. Look how many times lettuce gets contaminated.
I've never heard of E. Coli in any kind of nuts.

Thank you. I just wrote the same thing and it said my comment was 'posted'- only it wasn't.

This is why we need to know where our food is from posted on our food packages!
Those migrants want to kill us

Nuts are going to disappear? Don't think so.

Food is toxic
Water is toxic
If I were younger, I would leave amerika.
No where else but "amerika" has toxic food or water. Sorry you can't leave.
How the hell do you get E. coli in walnuts?
That’s exactly wat was going thru my mind reading the headline

What's with all the recalls lately?
Ecosystem collapse
THEY ARE TEYING TO KILL US.
Gosh, walnuts now?
meanwhile, we have young people dying from myocarditis and turbo cancer and nobody does a thing....
Vaping. Fentanyl.
one too many "pokes".
either someone didn't wash their hands after using the restroom or someone is incorrectly using manure on the trees.
What about the bins in the store? All the human debris dragging thier filthy paws through thise bins are if no concern or part of the investigation?
Yes. In bulk bins, in certain stores. Good question.

What agency certifies organic poo nuts?
I’d say the nut job babygirl a-hole C
Habits of migrating farm workers often have a lot to do with these outbreaks in various food in the U.S especially in California.
It’s the poor working conditions that force the human beings working on farms to relieve themselves in the same place they work.
So much for organic food with so many incidents.
Cook or steam walnuts.
Is Walmart Great Value walnuts safe ??
Save money and avoid contamination by avoiding organic food.
Glad I eat pistachios LOL
It's always small (Organic) farms, isn't it.
All the more reason to soak and roast your nuts instead of eating them raw.
They are supposed to be more nutient-rich as raw... sans e-Coli, that is.
How about re-cooking your walnuts in the microwave before eating?
