I lost my bird wing because of not clipping his feathers, she saw something and ran towards the fan, she got injured and after that incidence, she lived up to 2 years this lockdown she died. There is no shame in trimming your bird feather, you are making them safe and that's what parents do.

I understand why you are doing this, one of my cockatiel in training flew into a fan which snapped his neck. But for some reason I can never bring myself to trim their feathers. I usually just tie the first three feathers together which prevents them from flying high.

It is usually recommended when you are trying to tame an untamed parrot. I have some that will be clipped soon but once they are tamed, I will allow their feathers to grow back out.
