We look at the Book of Acts in the Bible and first try to understand what the author was telling the people of his day, given that it wasn’t 2024 back then.
We’ll explore what Luke was saying and look at the cultural context of his time. Then, we’ll take those principles and apply them to our current culture to see how they can be helpful in our lives.

Paul’s declaration to the Centurion that he was a Roman citizen by birth resonated deeply with me-especially considering that the Centurion had to pay for his citizenship.
My husband, born in England while his father served in the USAF, is a dual citizen. When we got married we were both USAF service members stationed in North Carolina. During my husband’s security clearance recertification, the installation security officer advised him to renounce his British citizenship or risk losing his clearance and potentially his Air Force career.
Determined, my husband thoroughly studied the regulations and found “no” requirement to give up his citizenship, particularly since he hadn’t visited England since birth and left as a child. He ultimately prevailed and retained his dual citizenship.
Years later, when we traveled to London for Christmas, he had to clarify to a customs agent that he was just visiting ❤, as his passport indicated citizenship “by birth”. Every time I read this chapter about Paul, I reflect on how hard my husband fought to maintain his dual citizenship, especially since his birth year was the last year England granted dual citizenship to those born to foreign servicemembers.
The Bible tells our stories for us sometimes 🙏🏾

Thank you. My "Mama" (Heavenly Angel that she is) often advised us to ask the Holy Spirit to bring to our remembrance exactly what we needed to know when we needed it. He has never failed me, and she would be proud to know that her godly advice still guides us to this very day.

Great to see you doing the Bible study.. So if Jesus was a Roman citizen they would not have scorged him at the pillar or crucified him. I wonder how Paul would prove he was a Roman citizen.
