I’ve been waiting patiently for an affordable version of the Joe Dart bass! So glad they finally did it!
I won’t be getting one but love that they’re game to do it. I’m pretty happy with the choices Sterling’s been making lately, good to see.
I am not going to treat mine as a collector, it will get modded. They are more than likely going to be making 2500 to 3000 of these. If I am not blown away by it, it will get a white delano and a stacked volume/tone knob to be stealthy.
Same! I’m not even thinking about it, it has the stock Ray4 pickup. White Delano it is.
i'm going to be getting this bass, i'm a huge fan of joe and vulf
4722 limited Joe Dart bass by Sterling were sold
Knowing it was a Sterling, I would have guessed a bit more than he quoted. I'd try one... Heck, see if you can get one. Rock on.
Nice breakdown, good thoughts. I got this as a drummer who wants to learn bass for fun, the earlier ones were too expensive to pick up for a hobby/intro instrument. We'll see how it goes!
I ordered one the first day. I love that playing my p bass pushes my technique to get different sounds, and the Joe Dart bass has the same concept with a different sonic flavor.
I got one ordered soon as i found out, im number 998 or something, i have the original and really like it, nice to have a beater
I ordered one and am anxiously waiting for them to start shipping in November! Because of the simplicity of the single volume knob, no active pre-amp, natural finish, no tone knob etc, I think Sterling is the perfect brand to produce this signature model. $399 is a good price point for the simplicity. Had it have been a reintroduction within the music man line, I would not have pulled the trigger at that higher price point. I’m also interested to see how this presale goes being direct to consumer only rather than through third party distribution. Maybe something we’ll see more of in the future
Found this looking for reviews of earlier Joe Dart basses (not the new ones since they won't ship until November) and I dig the channel. You raise an interesting point about the simplicity of the new SBMM Joe Dart, how it limits options for players. Something to think about but I am tempted by the prospect of such an affordable signature bass, for a player that I admire so much.
I’m debating on ordering one myself. I have until the end of the month to decide.
instant gas
The simplicity of it based on Joe Dart's tone is what's appealing about it.
Can't wait to get mine for X-mas.
Simple things are finest is what they made.
Sounds pretty good at the price point especially considering the fact that there are affordable amps that can let you add effects if you so choose. Im happy with my Ray5hh with 5 strings, active electronics, and pickup configuration selector for $50 more. So happy that Musicman does what they do to get people playing. Was kinda hoping you would mess around with it a little bit but whatever
I'm very interested - I love simplicity
Side note- where's Lobster?
They are living life
@@BullyThaKidd oh ok I understand; I didn't mean to pry, I just miss their content.
Becoming a woman, he/she is Transitioning…seriously
I was order # 1689. They are up to # 2428 as the time I posted this.
I too, liked the sound of it. I liked the idea of a passive Ray style bass and I like the idea of flats on it.
I would be interested to hear what you have to say about it and whether you view matches mine.
It’s literally a ray 4 that’s passive.
I bought and sold a used sterling music man for 289. With flats, hey 399 is a deal. I love the simplicity! Looking forward to a nice XMas gift for myself!
$399 unless you get it in Canada $800 CAD after shipping
lol on the pickup description Bully. This joe dart bass has a stingray style humbucker.
Ill pick one up but not during the preorder. Been there and done that before and it made the wait seem super extra loooooong. But with that said, Got that Sire F10 on order but I was immediately throwing my $ at the screen when I first saw that one. Don't have the same reaction to the all blonde Joe Dart
I got that random Sterling SB14 from NAMM that looks like the Joe Dart bass with a white pickguard guard and 2 Knobs!! I found those knobs on the deep web lol
I got the same bass! Where did you find the knobs? I've been looking everywhere
@jerryjb Google "Tube Depot toaster knobs" and it should be the first thing that pops up. They're less than 1$ for 2. They work, but the quality isn't the greatest. Mine had black smudges on it I had to sand off and the black line on one of them the paint was chipping off, so I had to use a sharpie lol
@jerryjb also the SB14 is noticeably better than the Joe Dart Sterling. My buddy got one and we both agree. Dude on Reddit said the same thing
@@BenD_Bass yeah I expect the hardware to be lower quality on the Sterling Joe Dart. My Sb14 just feels perfect overall
Sounds like a play against the Sire Z line. Battle of the mids in progress
I put in my order yesterday.
I'm not ok with it it's upsetting me a lot I'm going to cry
I think i may have to get one my damn self.
For the price they’re offering this model at I would get one, I wouldn’t even think about the music man version
It's a Sterling, so it's not going to be expensive. But yeah, 399 is good. I can't say I know who Joe Dart is, but I guess if you like Stingrays, then this isn't a bad choice.
I'd buy that for a dollar!
Question: How many guitars do I need?
Answer: One more!
I'm 100% interested at this price point, and hoping some of my extra gear sells before end of month to fund it.
Please order one. Reduced to the max, maybe too far? A Tone knob and a series / parallel / single coil switch is missing.
Not sure I want to cop this bass but looks okay
I'm interested. Especially at that price point....
I wish I had 400 bucks to buy one 😅
Bro check out the SB14 sterling. It's much better although they are limited edition and not on the site anymore. I just picked one up in Australia for 2k.
I got the Sterling by Music Man Stirling sooooooo......
The SB14?
@@adammadtin8451 yes .... That's the one
It's looks ok'ish and I am sure it is a fine bass but I don't think I want a bass with 1 control
So you're saying you're not versatile?
@@Diabolos1 I am probably not since I am pretty much a new player.
for $400 I would probably get a nice used sire.
it seems like a nice bass for someone that already has a few or is more experienced though.
Ok, I just went to the site, and even as a Canadian this is pretty affordable (minus duties), how many labor laws did they sidestep to be able to keep it so low? 🤣
I dont mind it if it would be actually affordable.. but at the same time why would I want it when Sire's new z3 and z7 basses are dropping
Simple is fine....but why just volume??
I'd mod that to a single master tone control instead. Far more useful to most players.
Expecting to see CZcams vids of people making this change about 5 minutes after this bass hits the shelves!
I plan on getting one and turning the volume knob into a tone knob.
Why would you ever wanna turn the bass down?
It's for turning it up!!
If they made this exact thing in 5 string I would have already ordered
Stop playing around a go get that bass😃!
If they put it out in a 5 I'm getting it.
I honestly don't get it.
Advantage to being left handed I guess
That is an uggily, worthless waste of craftsmanship and a slap in the face to forest sustainability
I’m not getting a Bass with I single volume knob , no way. Also I’m not into cheap basses. I love my Craft and only the best will do. Nathan East isn’t going to play a crappy $300 bass on tour with Eric Clapton
Signature models are silly sometimes, when people are willing to pay more for less just because someone's name is silkscreened on the headstock...$399 doesn't seem outrageous if the build quality is there but I don't care for signatures anyway, the sole exception being a gibson les paul
Nathan East is one of the legends in bass and earning enough money to NOT play $300 bass. 😅
