A newbie here from 1870's Homestead. I love Mints. I grow different flavors every year. I love the ideal of planting in and wheelbarrow - there is one here so it is time to put it to use.
I would love to see a video if making Mint Extract. Last year, I made my first Vanilla Extract. I gifted my daughter a bottle, which she loves.
ohhh, what an AWESOME gift! I've wanted to do that many times, but I never think of it early enough in the year! :( I'd love to know what you think of the wheelbarrow as a planter and I will definitely be showing my mint extract creation this year

I just found this collaboration today and it's already near the end of the month. I love chocolate chip mint ice cream. I don't have an ice cream maker. I'll have to think about buying one but I live alone.
An ice cream maker doesn't make an exorbinent amount... maybe less than what you buy honestly. I think it's well worth the investment. :)

you can definitely make it with mint extract too. (See the note about that in my recipe)

Oh my goodness are these great tips for critter deterrent. And thank you for the recipe for one of our favorite ice creams.😊 Yes please a mint extract recipe. I have spearmint, how would it be in ice cream? Do you know would the mint stems also work as a critter deterrent in the garden?
when I use it as deterrent I clip leaves, stems and all. most likely the stems will work on their own, but I would cut them with scissors as I toss them just to make sure more of the mint scent is released. (and I think I'll definitely have to do a mint extract video! I usually make it the end of the summer, with all my excess mint)
Yes please on the mint extract! Would laying the mint sticks around the garden have the same effect on keeping out pests as the cut up mint leaves?

well i don't know how "easy" i made it look with I almost totally failed :) but i'm so glad you enjoyed. OK to the extract, and not sure about just the stems... i feel like they won't be as potent smelling, but you could definitely cut up just the stems the way i did the leaves. let me know if you try it!
Michelle, my favorite ice cream is mint chocolate chip also, but unfortunately with me having to be on a blood thinner, I have to be very careful with eating minty foods because of it interacting with my meds. Unfortunately, I have to be on them for the rest of my life and can't stop taking them 😢. But this recipe definitely looks absolutely delicious 😋🤤❤🫂
