- China's planned reforms at its long-awaited third plenum next month may not necessarily solve the country's sluggish economy in the short term, Dr Jin Keyu, associate professor of economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science, tells CNA on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Dalian. She also weighs in on the overcapacity debate and where China-United States ties may be headed.

Keyu Jin is getting younger day by day
You not wrong
It takes the daughter of a CPC member with a Harvard PhD to explain basic market principles to a supposedly capitalist audience. Strange times we live in!
Everybody knows it's not about market principles but who holds the upper hand in future energy and secure supply chain.
@@surfspark EU didn't know they are buying Russian gas from India just so they can spend more money on the same gas they sanction.
你就是毛泽东说的教条主义,资本主义有市场经济,社会主义也有市场经济,一切推动人类进步与文明的才是好经济,而不是自私、侵略、偏见和无知You are the dogmatism that Mao Zedong talked about. Capitalism has a market economy, socialism also has a market economy, and everything that promotes human progress and civilization is a good economy, not selfishness, aggression, prejudice and ignorance.
Indeed.
She's absolutely stunning
What is going to happened if every government starts to subsidizes local businesses ?
Many governments provide some form of subsidies for industries that is important to their economy
@@Dollarrmb-pk6ub yup, 99% of the time to their agricultural sector. Cause they wants to be self-sufficient when it comes to food.
Every government is already doing that
It already happened all over the world in years. 😅
What a Wonderful speaker is Keyu Jin!
The problem that EU put geopolitics ahead of economic as can be in the sanctions of Russia that destroy the EU economy.
Jin Keyu is just so incredibly selfish. She monopolises beauty, she monopolises intelligence. Can't you just leave something for others?
She’s in UK, u what to trade for her PRC passport?

beauty with brains! Ms Jin.🎉🎉🎉
CNA uses Bollywood movies as their source?
Dumping ?
Open communication among parties, do more people to people exchanges, doing more collaboration rather than protectionist as it only deterrents and disrupts economic development. This is the win win solution. Some parties may lack competitiveness and lack confidence in their economy, but if distrust keeps going, it will only hurt more to their economy.
CNA China bashing again 😂

Why nonody looks into the historical data?? During 80s the Japanese cars and products has caused over capacity
Maybe people did, and they realised China is not Japan. In 2023, China has 231 motor vehicles per 1,000 people, and Japan has 661 per 1,000 people. There are still a lot of room to grow.
Jai Hind. We Indians are envied due to our humongous undercapacity. But demand could be much higher due to our dismally low pays in spite of supercharged productivity.
Why should China explain what they are doing to the US
因为美国人已经迷失了,不知道该怎么办
Are the US and EU,asking China to slow down on renewable energy ?
Everyone is simping for keyu jin 🥴🥴🥴
Will not solve anything as they want to raise taxes on businesses
Repercussions higher prices at the till less spending
The U.S. faces a critical shortage of experts on China.

Correct, not fully solve short-term economic challenges.
But it's moving in the right direction.
They don’t need to do something silly to rush for next e1ecti0n.
Most Western politicians only plan until the next e1ecti0n and never make long-term plans for the people.
CNA interview someone who share China view 👍
No. Someone who speaks of what she really thinks and based on fact.
@cinpeace353 Well, this is still very very rare occasion 😊. I am surprised to see. Normally China expert are people who live outside China, do not speak nor read Chinese 😉
@@fajarliong Those are so called "experts", not real one. 😂😂
@cinpeace353 is it? I believe a news channel at this calibre would verify through its news source reliability.
Isn't that China expert passing some kind of exam to hold the title "China expert". Certainly they go through some examination to be certified as "China expert". Maybe one who scores A in all subjects in the exam then would be entitled to "China expert", and they certainly show their certificate to news Channel before being interviewed. Where is the exam held? And who is the exam provider? What standard do they use?
If we do not have this, then everyone is "China expert" 😄😊😊
@@fajarliong lol, the only exam they need to pass is are their narratives fits the need of the channels or will it create the attentions they want, that's how most channels work nowadays. 😂😂
History lesson of steel industry
She is just repeating what CCP reasoning in arguing that it is not over capacity. However one views it from the demand and supply of the China domestic market, it is over capacity. To resolve the over capacity, it could either export (causing unemployment problem outside China) or consolidate internally and cause job losses inside China.
So everyone that exports is in overcapacity?😂😂😂😂
Song, you are not a learning person, kind of un.. educated
You're the one who views things like the biased and agenda-driven West. TO you any country that produces & exports in excess of domestic demand is in "overcapacity". So is Japan, Germany, Korea the top 3 automotive exporter for the last 3-4 decades in overcapacity ???
Chinese 🇨🇳 property sector, which accounts for 30% of GDP, is crashing.
- Exports and imports, accounting for 37% GDP, are down.
- Foreign investment (FDI) is falling over 90%, lowest in 3 decades.
- Foreign visitors are down 96% compared to the pre-pandemic level in 2019.
- Consumer prices are experiencing deflation.
- Youth unemployment hits over 21%, a record.
- Its fast-shrinking workforce is 10 years older than neighboring countries.
*Still, China keeps reporting outrageous GDP numbers.* Lol
Where does the growth come from?
Easy, they just fake the numbers 😅. Lies is the mantra of the regime
From the exact opposite of what has been naively stated by your good self! Chinanomics is not for the tunnel visioned ! Search for Keyu Jin's last few talks, not gordon chang's exploitation of -ve ideologues since 25 yrs ago! He's not complaining! His China Doomsday books of lies sell in the Anglo-Saxon sphere! LOL !😂
They gather to discuss on how to cook numbers.
In 2023, real China's 🇨🇳 economy shrank -3.5% as opposed to 5.2% expansion as officially announced.
- So this year, they will just publish a 5% growth regardless of their economy.
What about India? You should concentrate on your country India before meddling in other people's business.

The Chinese production will be used to tackle climate change. Such simple concept and yet US and European nations do not understand. Maybe these nations are not sincere in tackling climate change.
This person presents a thoughtful view but she loses points with me on suggesting the west is not showing enough restraint while not addressing Chinese lack of restraint by ramming Filipino boats and flying daily threatening sorties over Taiwan.
