- Forging a 50 cm long Bowie knife based on the historical Smithsonian Bowie knife. I made this knife in commission.
The knife is forged from 5061 steel. Hardened and differential tempered. The wood on the handel is Ebony wood. the blacking solution I use is called Bernax. - Věda a technologie
I’d pay him just to watch him work! I’ll bring my own camping chair! Crocodile Dundee must be jealous!
A Bowie Knife man myself & must say that is beautiful knife.
So much ingenuity! I so often take for granted the little tricks I've picked up from others. I'd never thought of using a surface grinder for bevels, or fabricating a guard using a sandwich construction.

Grand artiste, beaucoup de plaisir a vous voir travailler
Wow time really flies a lot has changed in your workshop but the quality in your craftsmanship hasn't.
It's always interesting watching these kind if videos seeing different peoples tools and techniques.
That's a huge frikkin knife. Gorgeous
Hot setting the guard rivet is a great touch. It will set down into the countersink perfectly and contract when cool to grip tighter than any other way of fitting. Real craftsman's touch there.
Man, its AWESOME!!! You are The Great Master!!! The coolest bowie in the world. Wish You good luck!!! Thanks for You job!
you are a freaking artist! awesome work man.
Freerk, do you just have every metal tool in the history of metal tools? Your shop looks like a great place to spend your days!!

A good knife has turned out, it is possible and as an ax, apply
leaf springs hold tons of weight and flex millions of times ! that is tuff. I've made several knives this way. they don't fail.
Me at the beginning of the video: Dunno, man, that looks kinda thin for a Bowie....
Me 1:15 into the video: OOOOOOOOOoooooh....

At 4/4:01 minutes in the video that tip disappeared pretty fast it went from him beating on it to almost a perfect slope. Did you have to cut it off.?
