    Respecting Remind speech I would say:
    I'm myself in my daily life, but is trought the dance that I could be *something else*.
    That's also a big value. The dance make you different, and I like differnces ;)
    Peace.
    PS: anyway, don't bite, don't hate, don't stop ;)

    @bboy smith you have some really valid points and honestly i was on the same page untill recently,my crew lost a decisive jam and it really made me re-evaluate my approach.why did i feel so confined?why did no amount of cross training or robotic power,foot work,and freeze drill prepare me?because i was shackled to the idea of expressing myself within someone elses pre ordained confines.

    Love it. "foundation is freedom" ima have to show my student this clip. I believe foundation is creativity.. Exploring what you can do with your own skills, then building on those movements. I don't teach sets, routines or any of that nonsense, I want them to master the art of freestyle, you do that by teaching them to think and practice creativity--all the while keepin those 4 elements in mind. It all one really needs

  • @scm867
    @scm867 Před 12 lety

    @zekidz, believing the r16 system is "the best" would be a mistake, and og's began this dance, they arethe foundation of this culture, the rest of us r simply students. U need to understand that genius is within us all, it is in our passion, og's were/are the most passionate of us all, they taught us all we know, they planted the seed. Original Gangsta does mean genius. Respect that.

    i see what your saying.i geuss the point im trying to drive home is that in a culture that strives not to be homogenized,trying to name and pidgeonhole every movement and style so that it can be easily acessed is a death sentance.all the younger cats i see today are too busy trying to fit into categorys to develop somthing of their own.

    ogs doesnt mean genius ,,,if he cant define foundation then the road is long for him tooo,,even if i respect his dance and all things he did for bboying ,,,but someone has to be clear about what is foundation at last and that the bboy community agree about it,,like the our system of dizeee which is the best system to judge a battle ,,,ogs were here since long but they didnt find a a good system to judge the dance ,,but OUR system of r16 is now the best .

    I agree, the old Gs want to have a career when they're out of shape, which is okay to do. But unionizing bboying so guys like like Dyzee can live happily on their non profit organization salarys? I dunnno, not to pick him out but that is a real problem with it... Business bias.

    bboyin was unrecognizeable as "bboyin" untill someone who was outside looking in needed a name for it so they could tell ppl about it,label it,own it,and confine it. the ogs didnt have time to sit there and catagorize,in 98,99 most bboys didnt use words like"foundation"and "dynamic" to put everything in little boxes so mabe ppl need to follow this advice so we can get this culture off the loop its been stuck on since money and fame became such a big factor.just sayin

      I don’t think he meant anything by that. We all gotta be inspired and start from somewhere, right?

  • @deo.strengthspan.project

    I think people look too negatively on "giving things names." But that's how humans work, we categorize things so we can understand and describe different things. Is that so wrong? We have the words like "red" and blue" so we can describe colors. Rebelling against the fact that we have called this dance "bboying" instead of just calling it "dancing" seems to me like saying "Hey, don't call those red and blue, don't box them in, they're all just colors." It's not very helpful.
