When I heard trump say that he alone could fix whatever problem... That was another HUGE red flag for me ‼️
Trump cannot fix ANYTHING. He’s a one-man wrecking crew.
Yes, I knew the country was in trouble when he said that.
Also, when he said that he didn't need to seek God's forgiveness. He denies Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior by his own testimony. That was a pivotal moment for me back in 2018.

Donald Trump said that he had never committed any sin and he never need to ask God for forgiveness. That should be a big red flag for anyone

I had turned away from church because the pastors preached about Republicans and Trump. They would say how great they & Trump were & I felt pressured to almost worship him. Your videos are bringing me back to my relationship with God who I believed to signify love, peace and compassion. To help all brothers and sisters. Thank you. My faith maybe can be healed. I'm not Christian, but watching what has become of my Christian friends and neighbors appalls me. Please keep up your teaching and podcasts because there don't seem to be enough of you guys who actually practice the stuff in your own Good Book. It has always amazed me how a people with a book of "instructions" on how to be good Christians so clearly don't read it.

How can I get through to my friends and relatives without describing the tricks of Trump. I try to talk to them, and they suddenly see me as the bad one, the one with hate in my heart. I tell them i do not hate Trump. I hate his behavior. They get angry at me, and then i just shut up.
Maybe talk about freedom vs dictatorship. The system Trump will create over time will create a dictatorship and freedom does not belong there. Other countries can serve as good examples. Dictatorships are welcomed at first because they seem promising but after a while the country turns into hell. Iran and the Islamic Revolution of 1979 could be one example (the religious nationalism is very similar too). There are many examples where extremists take power with the support of the people but it never ends well. Also keep in mind that the US is the leader of the free world and the consequences and the stakes here. And even if Trump won’t be the worst dictator imaginable, he is slowly setting up such a system of dictatorship and strict military rule under which future leaders (who knows how bad they may be) will govern and freedom will become unknown.
Hard core Trump followers do not respond to reason, as you are realizing. But when we react with strong emotions to their position, it’s rarely helpful. Dismissive tones usually are like gas on fire. Sometimes listening with a few clarifying questions eases the tension but most likely it won’t change their minds. Ultimately it’s better to be kind than right.
Ask questions.
"What do you mean by that?"
"How did you come to that conclusion?"
"Have you considered ..."
etc.
You don't have to be confrontational. Just be genuinely interested in their viewpoint before offering your own.
In Psalm 1 we are warned not to walk in the way of the wicked, for that will result in standing among the wicked, and then sitting in their counsels. Sad to say it but if you old friends and family have become wicked then you must stay away and find new saints to walk among and stand with.
Some Christians will only vote for Trump because he helped overturn Roe vs. Wade. What about bringing reason and peace into the issue of debate? So, the outcome isn't Trump/no abortion/end democracy.
I'm not part of your target audience but I learn so much from you and appreciate your thoughtful approach to the ambient stress and anxiety of the times. Thank you!
@the_OG_plumtree -- I don't think pastor Pat is addressing his presentations to an intentionally-limited audience, but rather to all who come to his channel -- whether they are fully aware of why they came or not. If I may ask, do you see yourself as outside of the pastor's intended audience for some specific reason or reasons?
@@LoseTheWorld-KeepYourSoul sure, it's because he's making a case for Christians, specifically, and while I was raised in a (non-evangelical) Christian church that my parents were active in, as an adult I'm an atheist who's more aligned with Buddhism.
@@_Plumtree_ -- Thank you for your reply and your openness. If you don't mind going into more detail, do you consider yourself to have been an atheist in all of your pre-adult years, as well, or had you for any time believed yourself to be a Christian?
@@LoseTheWorld-KeepYourSoul I guess if you'd asked me when I was a child I would have said I was a [Flavor of Christian Church I Grew Up In]. At some point in my teens I began questioning and went through a period of self-defining as agnostic before concluding that atheist was a better fit.
@@_Plumtree_ -- Thank you. I think you were right to move beyond agnosticism into atheism, because, in my opinion, agnosticism is just a less honest form of atheism. Agnostics may either truly believe or want to give the impression to others that they're being open and fair-minded about the question of God's existence, but, ultimately, they reject as evidence of God's existence everything that atheists reject.
If it turns out that there is indeed a God responsible for all that exists, including yourself, what, if anything, would you hope that God would be like?

I want to let you know how much I have appreciated and have valued so many of your videos on the subject of Trumpism. As a Canadian, I watch in horror how some Americans are mesmerized by Trump. It has been difficult to understand their fascination with this man. I have searched for a long time to make sense of this Trump phenomenon. Your videos have helped me make sense of it all on an intellectuel level and for your efforts I am truly grateful. It is important to understand how and why the Maga mouvement, precipitated by Trump’s arrival in the political scene and of course, favorable human conditions present as always and developed over time. You explain it all so well.

For the Christian, consider this proverb, "There is a way which seems right to a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." For the non-believer, such as myself, the Bible does not stand alone on this point. "Don't tempt me, Frodo! I would use the ring out of a desire to do good. But through me, it would wield a power too terrible to behold."

This was an excellent argument for the way of peace... I can't imagine what honest disagreement a Trump loyalist Christian could level against it. I am an agnostic atheist now - but I was once a committed Christian. I know the gospel, I accepted Jesus and thought I had a relationship with him, I thought it was all profound and beautiful, I poured my heart into following god... I kept going deeper and deeper... until finally I ended up with the realization that there was nothing there really except the constructs of men and a clear understanding that there was no actual god at the center of any of it... at least not the simplified, 2 dimensional god that Christianity taught. So I came back to reality... and left mystery where it belongs... far beyond the reach of my selfish certainty... Thank you for the work you are doing here. This is a critical time in history. Christianity has been weaponized by greedy, power hungry men... again. If we make it out of this... there needs to be a serious internal exam of your flawed belief system... for the good of everyone.

I really appreciate your message. I had a little giggle when you said we must "tend the garden" since that is very close to the last line of Candide by Voltaire. He meant that God created a perfect world and that humans were messing it up so it was our job to fix it. Alrhough neither you nor I are Deists like Voltaire, we seem to have similar views on the human role in working toward peace/shalom in Chrst's name. I subscribed to your channel and am looking forward to more of your teachings/discussions.

Reaching for the power levers of the world is the spiritual version of turning back to Egypt. "They always go astray in their heart, and they did not know my ways" (Heb 3:10; Ps 95:10).

Some want so badly to be right that they feel the need to make others wrong. If God is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent, meaning he is everything, everywhere and all the time, he did not make mistakes so who are we to make others wrong because they don't see the world with the same set of eyes? At 72, I am yearning to escape, preferably by ~Rapture~, and wondering what your thoughts are on this. I have major "trust issues" from childhood, but have had two Pastors in my life who have helped me in my Christian walk: Pastor Chuck Smith, of Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa, CA, and Dr. J. Vernon McGee. I listened to their teachings for so long that I knew what they were going to say next. I stopped after that, figuring that I knew what I needed to know, and have never had another Pastor since, as I am a hermit/introvert and don't go to church with my dear wife. Again, thank you.

Thank you so much for helping to explain the true Gospel.
I've heard it said how FEAR can be an acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real. Not sure it really makes perfect sense to me, since evidence is evidence. If anything, it's distorted evidence. Maybe Fake Evidence Appearing Real (AKA alternative facts?) that makes better sense.
Some have also said how even Satan used truth as a weapon by distorting it. Meaning, I suppose, you have to have some amount of truth mixed with your fearmongering to gain hold on a soul who if susceptible to it.
But I liken most everything in life to the Parable of the sower. In this parable you see those seeds cast among thorns, where the care of this world (MAGA in other words) makes the seed unfruitful. Because depending on who you ask, America may have "looked good" to some, but to many others it was a daily hell.
It can also be tares (never looked up what these actually are), but lets call them weeds. These are sown daily by DJT and others into the hearts of their listeners. In some it takes root, in others the wheat takes root. But this parable basically says we have to let these grow together and let the fruit of both occur. I take this as connecting "you will know them by their fruits" into knowing whether Love or Hate is the fruit. This is how I usually discern the spirit of a person. Do they espouse Love and hope or do the espouse Hate and destruction.
I believe it only by those, like you (whoever you are), and pastors like Pat (and sadly few others), who speak the truth in love. God has given to us the ministry of reconciliation - and that includes to those who have fallen into this trap we see today called MAGA.
Wonderful explanation of our calling as Christians. Our objective is to be lights that shine in the darkness and share the truth of God's Gospel of redemption in Love and grace.

Often you hear the phrase "The ends justify the means", but as a Christian, i have come to the conclusion that the means are all that matters. The Bible says that Jesus has already one the battle, if you belive that, then no ends can ever justify sinful means.
