I hot great advice from my old mechanic neighbor for removing the steering wheel on my ford tractor. You back the steering wheel nut to the top of the bolt then strongly tap the end of the splined bolt a few times
The wheel easily came up. And my old tractor is really rusty and corroded. It worked like a charm.

I tried this. It was really stuck. I hope to get a newer tractor before I have to do this again.

Hitting the bolt when the nut was at the very end worked as a charm. Had to git it a few times but i worked. And i tried to tash it off as well. On a ford 3000 69

Good luck. I was able to get everything put back together. Now I’m having to do a tuneup on mine. It just quit running the other day, after checking my points, they were shot. Thanks for watching our videos and your comments!!

I took the arms off the puller and put the brackets around the steering wheel spokes.

I’m glad you got it done!!! I hope I never have to pull another steering wheel off a tractor. It was a pain. Thanks for your comment, and watching my videos.

@@jeffeubanks370 I soaked it with PB blaster for two weeks before I tried. I left the nut on to keep the steering wheel/puller from flying off.
Now I'm having trouble finding and getting the rusty bolts off the dash body.

What did you do with the tank? Did you buy a new replacement or "boil" it out as mentioned? I have the same problem with my 1968 Ford 3000. My steering wheel nut is so rusted I can't get anything on it. Probably will be cutting it off.

I took it to a radiator shop, they “boiled” it out. I understand that yo be cleaning it out really good. Then the radiator shop coated the inside of the tank with some type of coating. It’s probably some type of epoxy. It has the look and texture of the paint that folks use on concrete floors. I’m sorry but that’s all the information I have on the tank prep. Thanks for watching my video and your comment!!😀
