    I have a 1983 Ibanez Destroyer MIJ. I moded with gold 1/2" clover tuners, brass bridge, Hipshot string tree for the A,D,G. Seymour Duncan SBP-3 quarter pounder and Superjazz, volume/volume with 3-way selector switch. No battery required. It's glossy black with creme binding. Also used the original creme PU covers on the Seymours. Oh, and 32" medium scale. Good for us little guys. YES, Destroyer's are cool!

    I have the same model in all black. I also swapped the pickups out for an EMG GZR PJ set & added some Schaller tuners. 1 of my favourite basses to play live. Love it!

    Great vid as always, bro! 🤘 Way way back in the day, I played rhythm guitar in some metal bands and my main guitar was a jackson kelly pro series. I loved that guitar. ( I have always had a soft spot for explorer like pointy things) Anyways I really like the looks of that bass, and I dig the pickup configuration, and the sunburst and gold hardware is sweet. Hopefully I can come across one of these for a good price. Thanks for the content brother🙏

      I just added gold knobs right before I did the demo portion. These are going up in price used for whatever reason.....and thank you for watching

      Its kinda Spector-ish, which I thought was cool, and why I gig it often...Still, a guy my age with a Destroyer is kind of like a mid-life crisis sportscar lol.......Tell everyone "Hi"....will wear the Electricfiers shirt again in a future video later this year

      I got this one many years ago. I thought about getting another about 2017 or so and many were listed used. As a guilty pleasure, i search for used ones occasionally and, these days. they are very rare and hard to find for some reason

  • @MichaelTheLibertarian

    Slap with both pick-ups sounded really good! After finishing all of it (and having my own, much newer, Ibanez P/J), I guess I just don't like J Pick-ups when soloed.
    (Comments help add to the YT algorithm, too!)

    • @Rib13Bass
      @Rib13Bass  Před rokem +2

      The only time I solo the j pickup is when I try a fretless emulation for jazz soloing: I roll back the tone ( passive) or highs ( active). I also use effects including slight chorus and a quick slapback delay. It's a workable tone for songs like New York Minute or Smooth Operator but songs like that are the only instances I solo a bridge j pickup

      @@Rib13Bass Oh, dude! I wasn't slamming your bass. It's just more and more, I realize I am just not a fan of that J Pick-up (on a 7ender or a clone) pick-up.

      @Michael Stanley lol....I was just talking what i do about solo j pickup on any jj or pj bass.....I didn't take it negatively at all.....and feel free to Like or Slam anything I post: I appreciate any honest feedback

    Ibanez seems like they were the Glary of the 70s. If Nu-metal hadn't come along they may still be looked at as cheap imitations.

    • @MichaelTheLibertarian
      @MichaelTheLibertarian Před rokem

      Except most of them weren't "cheap"; but inexpensive. I owned several Ibanez guitars in the late 70s and a couple of the old basses (Roadstar) basses and I desperately wish I could replace them at three times what I paid for them when new, but that is not the nature of the market, these days.

    • @sinakaedwards2009
      @sinakaedwards2009 Před rokem +1

      @@MichaelTheLibertarian I wasn't saying the instruments were cheap, I was meaning that the opinion of them was. However, after Nu-Metal they became king.
