    Damn that R1 sounds really good with that voodoo exhaust. Really wakes up that Crossplane motor.

    The very short answer is no. No tuning at all.
    Now comes the long why.
    With the slip on exhaust like the VooDoo the catalytic converter can still be in place and it is at the catalytic converter and back to the engine is where a slight gas restriction is. So making a change after the cat in terms of gas flow is totally insignificant as the damage is done.
    If you remove the catalytic converters and then have a free flowing exhausts system on the engine even then by re tuning an engine to compensate for that. It will make at best only a very very slight difference in power in reality at best.
    If you install replacement headers and full exhaust system it might benefit with a retune as one should be able to put just a slight bit more richer fuel mixture in because the burnt gas can get out. But even then we are not talking lots of HP to be gained with all of that in place. On a 1000 cc engine a full headers exhaust system with a re tune one might achieve 3 to 5 HP out of a stock engine.
    If the engine was re worked with more compression and larger intake and exhaust valves head porting and larger profile and duration cam shafts then if all of that is done it will get more fuel in so then one needs to get the burnt gas flow out and then a re-tune is essential .
    But with stock compression and heads and cam shafts plus valves and stock head porting all an exhaust change will do is help to remove 2% to may be 3% of burnt gas out of the exhaust chamber and keep in mind that all of that would only happen when you’re at wide open throttle and at maximum RPM.

      Hey Patrick the R1 was my son's bike he has sold it and now has the victory judge. With that exhaust system on the R1 it did sound very good though and it was a good bike indeed but not to good for him to ride it to work and back as he has a fair way to go so he changed it for something more comfortable

    Awesome! What year R1? (crossplane?) and did you get your bike tuned after installing this or is it sweet?

    • @rolandkeith5322
      @rolandkeith5322  Před 7 lety

      it's a 2010 model and it is a Crossplane engine. And no we did not get it re-tuned.The factory set up can and will re-calibrate and compensate for an exhaust change contrary to what many miss informed people think. The oxygen sensor picks up the better gas flow reading and the lower exhaust gas temp from a better flowing system and adjusts the fuel timing to suite and been a four stroke engine the more you can get out the cleaner the next fuel charge well be and the more power you will make.

    do you know the decibel (DB) of the exhaust when the bike is idling? also which country and state is this in ? As I'm trying to purchase one for Australia. I want one cause she sounds so mean!

    • @rolandkeith5322
      @rolandkeith5322  Před 3 lety

      I do have a DB meter and we did test it and I think it was around 108 DB. We are in South Australia and we never had a problem with the cops at all. we have been past them and beside them and even pulled over on a RBT and every time we have no problems at all.

      not 100% sure but what i can say is the vood pipe itself seems to be a fairly generic fit slip on , so id say it would it may just sit slightly further forward/back?

    So no tunning at all? Was looking at this pipe for sometime now but I don't wanna spend the extra money on tunning/ mapping. I have a CBR 1000 2012

    • @dale.5051
      @dale.5051 Před 6 lety +1

      James Scott hey mate, my bike on here, no tuning needed for it to run fine, only really down side to not tuning is she isnt running as efficiently as she would why? simple, more gas is exiting than the computer is programed for, so the air fuelmixture is slightly off byt not enough to effect performance, however without a tune you will no recive or benefit from and power gains either

    • @arizonathekid8484
