The name came from the "alien" character those muskets brought in by the British to fight within the Maori tribes presented for them, compared to the traditional weaponry they had before (you know, bows and arrows, spears..) That was alien weaponry for them.

They must be using triggers and or something like a Roland SPD, there’s a stack on drum strikes through this and the drummer is playing pretty simple stuff. That’s not a put down, it’s a common practice.
