      You tell this to Cejudo? 🤣 He moved up to Bantamweight title shot only after 1 Flyweight title defense.
      Makhachev is p4p no.1 for a reason. Cejudo wasn't even p4p no.1 when he won 2 belts. Saying that Makhachev doesn't deserve to move up makes no sense.
      He beat Oliveira already, Oliveira pulled out from rematch, not his problem. Gaethje and Poirier already lost title many times they can wait.

    • @IntoBloom-wz3nl
      @IntoBloom-wz3nl Před 5 měsíci +2

      I don’t think you need to clear out a division to go up. If the skill and dominance is there and it looks to be a more competitive fight than either champs defending their belt, then why not? UFC is all about putting on big and highly skilled fights. If Islam beats Gaethje and Leon beats Belal, it’s definitely the fight to make for both divisions.
      Look at boxing, no one is telling Inoue to clear out a division before going up. Because he’s really that good, taking out champions directly. That’s what being P4P means. As far as I’m concerned Islam and Leon are both p4p within a division of each other, it’s a banger fight that makes sense.

      @@ssglbc1875 nah. After what khamzat did to Usman, I doubt Usman can beat Islam. Khamzat can't stand and strike with Usman, Islam can, and Islam's ground game is just as good as khamzat's. You're underestimating. Severely. And you're not accounting for the individual skill sets of these fighters you named. For example, Leon Edwards has absolutely no ground game, Islam is an elite wrestler, probably the best one currently competing. He would smash Leon in the grappling, and he could also stand and strike with Leon too. Islam has great defense and accuracy, the best defense in lw history. Don't downplay this guy. What Islam makachev did last year, none of the fighters you mentioned can do that. He smashed 2 guys with the longest active win streaks. And now Islam has the most win streaks in the UFC currently. After everything he's accomplished, people still downplay this guy. Shavkat would also have difficulty on the ground with Islam, and he would find it difficult to stand and strike with him too. Islam's striking KO'd volk, he damn near knocked his head off in the first fight too. And volk is undeniably one of the best strikers. People downplay this win because of the physical differences. The difference in weight and height doesn't matter for volk, volk is used to fighting guys even taller than Islam and beating them. Hell, a guy an inch taller than volk himself ko'd him. Skill is a more important factor. And Islam portrays it. Also consider that pushing low ranked fighters directly into a match with top ranked fighters potentially could end like Porrier vs Benoit. Shavkat hasn't faced a top contender other than a washed up Wonderboy. And literally barely squeezed a win from magny.

    Man I’d love if champs went back to defending their title in their division a bit more eh? Like can’t the UFC have a policy for champs to have at least 5 titles defences before challenging another?

    I think we are missing the point that Leon has beaten 2 of the best wrestlers in his division in a row, he knows how to stop wrestlers from doing what they want to do and make them dance on his beats, he looks kind of small but the guy has the strength to stop usman's takedowns & on the feet he has like jon Jones kind of striking IQ. So I am not doubting him anymore.

    Just shows you how tough and good Nate is. He engaged Leon the whole fight and it was super tight. Add the fence grab -2 for Leon and the knockout in the 5th; would have been fight over if it happened in the 1st round Leon could not get up off the chair if there was another round; In this case I believe should have been waved off by the ref but there was this stupidity that he was winning before so they shouldnt but in most cases Leon was KOd.

    • @m9oxo
      @m9oxo Před 5 měsíci

      " in most cases Leon was KO'd ?? ..What a load of bullshit, what the hell are you talking about. Support Nate all you want, but don't be deluded....saying "if this" & "if that" ?? doesn't wash ! Nate caught Leon late in the 5th with over a minute to go, when Leon, with the job done, got sloppy & dropped his guard (after dominating Nate all fight). So to say "IF it had happened in the 1st round - fight over" is bullshit. I can play that game too .....IF Leon had head kicked Nate in the first, it would have been Nate KO'd, see, easy, words are cheap & IF is for dreamers. For starters it just didn't happen in the first ! Leon made a mistake in the 5th & Nate clipped him, didn't finish him though, yes he pointed at him, but was on him in 4 seconds later & couldn't finish him. I agree Nate is tough & gave Leon a much better fight than Colby did (but really that's not saying much ...after Colby, was obviously terrified of being KO'd by Leon & wouldn't engage) As for "it was super tight" ? really, you need to watch it again .....Leon dominated Nate ...played with him, picked him off at will, took his back , he even swept him twice, who gets dumped on their arse like that at that level ?? Nate is great to watch & tough as they come, but not on the same level as Edwards.

      Colby took Leon down and so did Usman. I know they are great wrestlers and Leon actually stuffed most of Colby attempts but remember that Islam is a league apart in offensive wrestling. He took a short guy like volk who's so stable centre of gravity 4 times in 6 attempts. I don't think a long guy like Leon can stuff that. Although i agree with the part that Leon's distance management and leg kicks are great. A proper tactical battle it would be.

    No, Champs need to clean their division before moving up. Alex, jizzy, and even DC did it. Jones did it, too, just differently. Gsp too. You and conor took the easy way, but in your case I don't blame you cause the weight cuts were too much and technically conor cleared it by beating the two best and only good guys there at the time and his weight cuts were too much too. But no more. Enough of this b.s. jumping around. Clear your division first.
