To those thinking that there's an option of how to perform a song in the contest, there isn't. The juries vote on the dress rehearsal performance (the night before the show itself) and on how close the performance is to the recorded version.

I'm excited. Last year, I thought the UK would finally do well again with Embers, until I saw the live performance. The vocals just weren't good and the staging was a disaster.
Sam's vocals are MUCH better than James Newman's (and also a lot better than my country's entry S10...). The song is very challenging to sing, so some backing vocals could be a good choice for support.
Don't let whoever did last year's staging ruin Sam's staging as well. Bad staging can ruin everything, good staging and vocals could result in a top 10 finish. Good luck!

Very talented chap. He's a bit tired here though and you can hear it in his voice when he's trying to push through it.
Hope he is taking rests and easing off the throttle a bit in the midst of the hype and eagerness.

It’s a good song but Brits ate exaggerating his vocal ability. Any musician can tell he is struggling with the high notes which are the best part of the song

@@thegreatbriton1203 I still stand by my comment. In the clip above it’s obvious that he’s struggling with the high “Man” note of SpaceMan.
But in the comment I did say that of he doesn’t improve by the time of the final it would be lucky to reach mid table.
The important part is that he had improved from this clip.
Granted, even in the final I think he was still a little hard pressed on that highest note for his vocal range, (which is what I believe Brits have been overhyping, considering people could be using autotune on TikTok)
But he still managed to hit the high note, less convincingly than the high notes of his tiktok videos but he still managed to reach the note which among other things helped him to finish that high
Wow wow wow! Haven't really been into EV, but I could change my mind, he has an extraordinary voice and talent!! I don't begrudge the Ukrainians given the circumstances, but seems a deserved 2nd place. Slava Ukraina!!
I love Sam, he is amazing. I do genuinely think though that we could have had a better song for him (for Eurovision), but at the same time I'm proud he's representing our country-he's the best one we've had in ages

The acoustic piano version he does is so much better... this feels too fast... such a good song, such a good vocalist. For once it feels like we could do really well...I hope they don't stuff it up with bad production & staging.
