- Feeling lost in LIfe & Watercolour. Healing from life events with art and creativity & exploring watercolour in my sketchbook. I think, in fact I know, adults also need time for hobbies and play. When we take art too seriously, it can feel like such a struggle but when we lose ourselves in the creative flow and allow ourselves to explore & experiment with our art supplies; we can enjoy the process so much more. I truly believe art can heal the soul as we operate both sides of our brain to practise skills but also, when we find our flow, that's when the magic happens. Lots of art process in this video and big disclaimer ~ I am a watercolour beginner and by no means an expert! Learning art in a new medium later in life, after 50 is fun and a whole new voyage of discovery. Thanks for keeping me company on my journey!

I'm alone most of the time and definitely alone in my art explorations and it is a joy to tune end and pick up tips from watching you and end up feeling encouraged and brave. I know that the Lord has got me covered but your chit chat puts a smile on my face. I love your unusual color explorations. I’m feeling this a lot. Feeling very alone these days, but Wendy’s videos really are calming, inspiring and a reminder that there are others that are so like minded. I have had aspirations of beginning my art journey, and really dive into it for SO LONG. I have very art supply that I can think of, however they are also lovely and need me to ACTUALLY use them!! I thank you for the transparency here, and feeling a bit less alone. 🙏

Thank you for taking us with you on your visit with the trees, and your reminiscent journey. And then showing us the magic you make with watercolour washes. You say you aren't an expert, but you create a mood and emotion with broad strokes quickly, and a poignancy with the details. As a fan of Toulouse-Lautrec, I adore your sketches and paintings. And thanks for having space for us, and sharing the perfectly imperfect Wendy (makes me feel better about all my imperfections). Because of your previous tree visits, I went on a long drive through an arboretum near me, and though it was cool and drizzly, the smells were wonderfully woodsy, and I got to visit with the trees, and listen to the birds. It made me wish to paint every green I saw. Nature is so comforting and inspiring. Time to curl up with my sketchbook, and perhaps even my watercolours.

That church looks like something I have seen on Midsommer Murders. Love British tv. That green eye looks like glass. How ever do you get that effect with watercolors? Enjoyed this week’s video immensely.

Hi Wendy, thankyou once again for a beautiful video! Yes, I agree with what you’ve said in the description below that art is such a wonderful and great healer for many things. I have unfortunately had three very serious illnesses in my later life and the last has left permanent pain through nerve damage in the brain. I have kept up my creativity throughout each and it takes away the pain as I’m totally focused on what I’m making or painting. I consider myself so lucky that I have been left with my mobility more or less intact and so am able to make pottery as well as journals and paint. I’ve even got a small CZcams channel going, something I thought I’d never do, especially at the age of 70! 😂🤔
The thing I’m trying to say really is that art of any kind can be a great saviour and a huge thankyou for re enforcing this in my mind and giving me such peace and acceptance and courage to keep going forward. Thankyou so much for sharing, take care and sending great big hugs ❤❤❤

My sister, my first steady boyfriend ( 50 years ago) and his wife took a similar trip done memory lane. We visited the city we grew up in, visited our old homes, my grandma's home, and lots of other nostalgic places. We then met friends from the 70s for dinner. My sister and I had taken a train there so saw mountains, Jasper (where we used to camp) and Alberta fields. May not get back again so it was a sweet trip.

The Northern Lights here in B.C. Canada were spectacular my daughter is a photographer on Vancouver Island where there wasn’t any lights and her photos were out of this world very fortunate to see something so beautiful.

Good morning from the Colorado Mountains, USA. As I watch and listen I am digging out my desk. It has supplies stacked on stuff, and junk, and books. Gonna at least find some watercolor paper and my travel watercolors. The balcony is calling me to paint, and I must go!🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

Sketching most days so relaxing and quiets my mind at night. Glad you are doing some more watercolour painting I learn so much. I have started going over old sketches with watercolour just need to practice patience with drying layers. Love your watercolour eyes ⭐️

Hello Wendy, I've been doing eyes too, but I've been using oil pencils, I've never used them before, so right out of my comfort zone.
I'm really enjoying them really nice to do the iris's, bit messy, though.
It does us good to challenge ourselves occasionally....take care❤
lovely to see you dear ,I love watercolor too and am not an expert but love to play and experiment with it. missed the message of showing ones space will have to do a clean up of mine again when i am doing journals it gets really messy especially in a small space but I love it as is my space. being creative is some thing I just have to do is my grace my peace and love. love to you and James dear 💖

The mention of the lady Blue and then later Toulouse Lautrec put me in mind of Christopher Moore's book Sacré Bleu. A bit funny a bit fantasy ,romp through imagined history with famous painters.

I always somehow get lost in your videos, it transports me to such a serene place. Watching you draw or paint is so calming. I do crafts as well, though sadly I can't paint or draw even stick figures, very well. But admire anyone who can. The eyes you did were just lovely, very soulful. Another beautiful video this is my third one. I love looking around churches too when we visit the countryside. Watching you paint is so relaxing. My husband goes away and has just returned from China. I have a reborn channel and make journals 😊❤

I returned to watercolor over 10 years ago. I do ink and wash rather than traditional painting. You might find you like results better with 100%cotton paper. Arches is, of course, the best. It’s expensive and I find the cold press too toothy. I like Stonehenge Aqua. It doesn’t come in sketchbooks though. I buy sheets to tear down for my disc bound books. Many of my Urban Sketching friends like the newish 100% cotton Hahnemuhle sketchbooks.

I think your new stickers are very sweet. And I appreciate the inspiration to keep going to my sketchbook! An interesting thing I observed in these paintings of you doing eyes, is that both of the first two eyes, and even I think in one of the two paintings you showed I think in the beginning of the end (Blue was what you called one of them - I'm watching this over two days so my memory isn't firm), are drawn as what the Japanese call "sanpaku." The two that you made stickers of (with their eyes open) do not have sanpaku eyes. It makes me wonder if this reflects what you are experiencing when you are drawing them. You can look it up - I think you may find it interesting! I appreciate how open you are about what is going on so I hope you don't mind me commenting on this. I think we all learn and grow by sharing what we are going through, so that we all know that we are not alone! Many thanks Wendy for your gentle and kind wisdom always.

Much love to you both. I’ll keep my light shining but to be honest not sure how bright. My doctor has advised me to call mental health and talk to someone as I’m grieving and my brother has a rare form of cancer in an area of his head, so much to deal with but you e made me smile today.

Kia Ora Wendy from a winter New Zealand. I’m learning to create watercolour images with my left arm right gone a wonky had mild stroke last month so my husband of awesome arrived with papers and paints as has become some of my therapy. One of nurses put speed slower on screen so can watch without motion 🤢. Thank you for encouragement
