  • After last week's video on the topic of being able to get a job as a floral designer whether you are Certified vs. Uncertified. I felt I need to continue a bit this week and explain a little about AIFD accreditation and CFD Certification.
What is AIFD, and how do you get your CFD??
Floral Industry Certifications definitely aren't a requirement to be able to work as a floral designer. However, attaining your CFD (Certified Floral Designer) certification, and taking your PFDE test with a high enough score to be invited to join AIFD. Both do have their benefits and can open doors to new opportunities.
AIFD stands for the American Institute of Floral Designers.
I'm Frank Blanchard AIFD CFD, yes I do have my CFD certification and I do also have my AIFD accreditation. In addition to those, I am also an AIFD Certified Evaluator/Judge which is a whole other process of its own.
In this video, I thought it would be helpful to share a basic explanation of what AIFD was and how the whole certification and testing process works. If you are at all interested in a professional career as a floral designer. I would encourage you to research what the possibilities are for yourself. It's really a personal choice whether to pursue it or not. I will say though that opportunities do definitely present themselves... even ones you didn't know existed before.
Do check out our AIFD website to learn more about the organization, the affiliated schools, and organizations, as well as the testing process.
