I think it’s similar to how, in American English, particularly in some dialects, you could say “I’m going to have myself a nice drink”
Yes. Even more informally, you can say, "I'm going to have me a nice drink."
"I'm going to read me a nice book before I go to bed, and then maybe I'll have me a nice breakfast in the morning."
British English too.

This happens in Spanish too. You can say "como el pastel" - I eat the cake or "me como el pastel". Both say the same, but the second one is used commonly and is reflexive. Great explanation.
Could we get a video on how to text like an Italian? I mean like how in English we have abbreviations like “lol” are there abbreviations like that that Italians use? Grazie! :D
Here are just a few off the top of my head, if you like :)
t.v.b > ti voglio bene (I love you - in a non romantic way)
t.v.t.b (number of second t variable) > ti voglio tanto bene (I love you very much - same as t.v.b)
cmq > comunque (anyway)
xké > perché (why/because)
grz > grazie (thanks)
All of these nowadays are generally used ironically between friends.
And then of course we use the English ones like lol, lmao ecc., even when writing the rest in Italian.

The thing is italians rarely use abbreviations, it's seen as childish or maybe like something a boomer trying to fit in (failing) would do
The most used in general is probably "cmq" but things like k for che or xke for perché make you look like a small child
@@Gorgonath Yes, that's why I said they are mostly used ironically between friends (like using a silly voice in person). You wouldn't want to use them in a serious conversation or with someone you don't know.
I think they were created when sms were still one of the only means of written communication, and since the longer the message the more you'd pay, abbreviations had a precise purpose. But now nobody uses sms for long conversations, and so using abbreviations in a non ironic way is seen as kind of pointless.
Abbiamo la stessa cosa in polacco: "czytam książkę" (leggo un libro) oppure "czytam sobie książkę" (mi leggo un libro).

Noi brasiliani oriundi dall'Italia abbiamo trasferito questa abitudine per il parlato portoghese... si fa pure delle barzellette per questo 😀 mettiamo il "me" ( non "mi" ) dappertutto ... ad esempio: " Não me inventa de sair a noite sozinha!" cioè " Non pensare di uscire di notte da sola" ... questo "me" vuol dire " io me preocupo con te perciò non esca da sola di notte"....ma in portoghese è un errore... comunque i discendente parlano così ... pure io😀

I’ve been contemplating whether this construction is ever used in English to express a more emphatic or emotional involvement in the activity. I could certainly say, “I’m going to bake myself a cake,” or “read myself a book” but the meaning might be both meant or understood as purely reflexive.

Eheh, ottimo, l'hai usato benissimo. Un unico piccolo appunto: in italiano non si dice "mangiare una cena" ma preparare o fare una cena, quindi sarebbe ancora più corretto se dicessi "mi faccio/mi preparo una bella cena" 🙂

questo modo di dire esiste anche in tedesco ("ich trinke kaffee" - "ich trinke mir einen kaffee"), è un modo di dire cosa si fa qualcosa in un modo più "romantico". negli sottotitoli tedeschi del video è tradotto con "ich trinke einen schönen kaffee" che avrebbe la stessa connotazione, ma non ho mai sentito qualcuno dirlo cosi.

@@RubyDuran it's actually "molte grazie", not "molto grazie". "Grazie" is actually plural, with the singular being "Grazia" (literal translation is "grace"). So, "una grazia", "mille grazie".

Finally, I now know what "Ci" means and how it is used in context to this. Grazie mille, Lucrezia!
Ci means a million things.
Ci vado (indica un luogo, vado lì)
Ci penso spesso (penso a ciò)
Ci conosciamo (we know each other)
Ci fa piacere (fa piacere a noi)
Ci ringrazia (ringrazia noi)
Ci vado al cinema (vado con lui/lei al cinema).
It is also the reflexive pronoun for "noi" - ci svegliamo presto (we wake up early).
Then you have the pronomial verbs like farcela, mettercela etc.

Avevo imparato l'italiano anni fa quando frequentavo l'Associazione Dante Alighieri qui in Argentina, ma poi me ne sono dimenticato di molte parole e di strutture. Adesso guardo i tuoi videi ed imparo un'altra volta.

Tante volte mi sono chiesto perché facciamo lo stesso in spagnolo e diciamo "me bebo un café", "me leo un libro", "me veo un film"... Adesso l'ho imparato grazie a questa bella spiegazione.
En español se usa la misma estructura. En este caso, el pronombre tiene función de complemento indirecto. En la frase "Te leo un libro", "libro" es el complemento directo y "te" el indirecto. Si decimos "Me leo un libro" la función gramatical del pronombre "me" es también la de complemento indirecto. Añadir este pronombre al principio sirve para dejar bien marcado que el tema soy yo (o tú o él) mientras que el rema es el resto.

This brings up my question of adjectives. In these examples bel & bello comes before the noun. In my textbook majority, but not all,, of adjectives comes after the noun. I cannot figure which order applies when.
