I think like most lyricists, he's alluding to his own life but presenting a much more global idea. In this case, the "tragedy" being the bus accident. They've always been a band that promotes positivity and the notion of overcoming difficulties to come out the other side as a better person. So what I think he's really talking about is cutting people out who only want to focus on your set backs and say "Oh, i'm so sorry that happened" but not recognize what you've done to overcome that and how hard you've worked to better yourself. Not recognize the hard work and perseverance that followed a set back. I don't think he's talking directly to the fans, but more about the people who are linking them with the initial tragedy of the accident and their suffering that they endured afterward. I think almost every fan is saying "Hell yeah! They're back! Look at them go! They've worked so hard for this!" It's kind of like he'd rather be hearing people say something like "Look at what they've done. Look at how far they've come and how hard they've worked. They won't be held back." instead of "Oh yeah, they were in this horrific accident. Look what happened to them. Poor them." That's not to say that tragedy and suffering aren't important; they just are the defining factors. It's what was done to combat those things that matters. At least, that's my take on this.

i think most of your interpretation of the message seems accurate, but to me it sounds specifically targeted at someone. I don't think they would send a message like this towards a part of their fanbase. It sounds like somebody specific did something shitty and they're indirectly calling them out.

@@jck1794I can see that. And I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they are specifically targeting someone/or a select group. I agree it does sound very targeted. Or at least that was the major influence for writing the song.

@@hopeful4tomorrow149 I agree. I think it is very important for people to know it's ok to cut out toxicity from their lives. And I give them kudos for being tasteful with it instead of just flaming someone by name. Lionheart did the same thing in one of their songs, even saying "I ain't droppin names cause I ain't trying to bring you fame."

I interpret it as realizing who is in your life for the wrong reasons and just the overall toxicity they bring into your life. We have all had fake and toxic people in our lives and especially now in today's day and age when people are constantly putting eachother down or starting shit for "clout", we really have to be wary of others peoples intentions and the damage their behaviors can do to someone

I’d assume it’s more to the “fake fans” or people that use their struggle for clicks and what not idk that’s just what I took from it. Like you said they love the fans I don’t think this one is shitting on us as fans.

You should react to Leprous, a Norwegian prog band. Either their live version of Slave or the drum play through of The Sky is Red. The drummer Baard is phenomenal.

I talked to Jon when he was streaming on twitch around the time this was released and he said he was talking about the people who were basically hovering around them during recovery, but purely for the clout/instagram or snapchat story/just to make themselves look good, not to actually support the guys through their recovery. Such a banger of a track, so aggressive.

i think they just wanted to make an angry riffy song, i doubt it's directed to one or a group
