i got a serious masterclass question, the battery is using 21, but there is three branches and four cams attached, this is 3x1+5x4=3+20=23 which eidently is not 21, could it be running on 20 so you only need to branch off 10 on the first branch? is the sum of 3 branches or like any sum of branches in row valued at one, or each in a row +1? or +0 for any which uses more than 2 on the branch off? also nice to see after years of not uing the bell it finally has a use, you appear on my subbed board again
@@h4n5i You're 100% right. I've never been able to figure it out. If you branch off 10 it doesn't work. The battery is supposed to say 23 not 21. Maybe a glitch? Not 100% sure. Root combiners don't use electricity at all, even though they should. Best guess is they use decimals of 1, aka 0.5 each, but cos the game doesn't recognize decimals the devices reflect incorrect info. Ty for the comment
@@MisterFlak Its combination of 2 behaviors - first is that branches doesnt count to battery drain, but it will still use that 1 power from total of 100. So for example if you have 20 branches in chain, each set to branch out 4 power, battery would report usage of 80 (charge drain), but provides full 100 power output. Second is that battery cant "see" components after "branch out" output, it cares only for that value. So your first branch is set to branch out 11, then another branch 5 and last camera takes another 5, so it totals to 21 battery drain. But in fact battery provides 23 power out of 100, it just discharge little slower
I've been using both these glitches in trap bases. If you want to easily place the solar panel build a twig roof coming off the foundation and place the panel snuggly against the bottom of the roof. After you destroy the roof build your wall and it should be perfectly placed.

One minor optimization: use one branch and one splitter instead of three branches to safe 1 power (set branch out to 5 and let the rest go into the splitter). Then simply connect 1 camera to branch out and the other 3 to the splitter. Total usage will be 22 like that.
Nice idea, but large battery is little overkill. You can have 4 small batteries for each camera, add 3 splitters after combiners to power them equally. That way you spend 3 power from solars for splitters, instead of 3 power from battery for branches and that is little more efficient. Also if you place small batteries on top of TC, you might have space for sleeping rag, then use horse to transfer loot if needed. And if you hook smart switches in between cameras and batteries (or one smart switch in your case), you can have just single solar panel to recharge battery and power cameras from rust+ on-demand.
Appreciate your input but small batteries don't have the capacity to keep a camera working through the night
@@MisterFlak small battery have capacity of 150rWm, that it is 30min runtime with usage of 5 power. It depends how much charge is left before sun goes down, but if it works for large, it should work for small

However, I do have an electrical question: Why did you use 3 branches, when you could have achieved the same result with 1 branch and a splitter?
i.e. Configure branch to 16 power [that goes to a splitter] - where that would power 3 cameras and the splitter, then the Branch out [excess] goes to the fourth and final camera. Saves you some metal frags in setting up and saving 1 power - where - being solar powered... every bit of power counts! Would like to understand your methodology!
