This song is an essential part of the playlist that defines an era. It's quality is evident because it still sounds fresh more than 50 years after being released. Good choice sir.
My oldest son, he's 33 now, is truly a phenomenal guitarist. He told me back probably 10 years ago, I don't really remember exactly what band we were listening to but he said basically "these guys aren't that great I can play all of this stuff" and I said ok true enough you can play it, now where you've written a piece of music and 40 years later kids are bragging that they can play it, get back to me
Steve Winwood. A master at his craft. A superior musician that surrounded himself with superior musicians in everything he did. Take a journey through all of his works, you won't be disappointed.
Stevie Winwood was, as you've probably checked by now, an all-around musician who played an assortment of instruments and voted #33 in the top 100 singers by Rolling Stone. My favorite was 'Low Spark of High Heeled Boys', when he was with Traffic. It's a long amazingly mellow bluesy and jazzy number.
@@abracadabra3033 Far out! I see you've done some Steve Miller songs. You might want to try your namesake- 'Abracadabra'. Awesome and catchy psychedelic rock, 70s style! Came out in '82, though.
As already said, the vocalist is Steve Winwood, who started with The Spencer Davis Group when he was a teen. He had a lot of success with the group Traffic, this group, and also an ongoing massive solo career. Definitely worth a deep dive.
This song is so perfect for his angelic voice, and it always makes me feel sad and thoughtful. Just one of my favorites; I tend to listen to it over and over when I'm in a certain mood...
A beautiful song. Blind Faith were a supergroup that only put out one album: Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, Steve Winwood, and Rick Grech. Winwood was the vocalist on this track - he'd started with Spencer Davis Group and recorded some other wonderful songs with Traffic (try their "No Face No Name No Number" and "Dear Mr Fantasy") and also had a long solo career. I cover this song sometimes at my gigs - I only hope I do it justice.
@@abracadabra3033 There were 2 covers of this album when it was released. The first one had a young girl, naked from the waist up holding what appeared to be a silver dildo. I had that one; wish I still did
Blind Faith ...a one-album super group formed when Cream disbanded - Eric Clapton (Guitar) and Ginger Baker (drums) from Cream, Steve Winwood (Spencer Davis, Traffic) on keyboards and vocals, and Ric Grech (bass). Here's a really long one (16+ minutes) from that self titled album, with everyone getting an extended solo - "Do What You Like": czcams.com/video/u2IpqvvlT24/video.html
Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Rick Grech you can't possibly go wrong! i think at one time or another we've all been there, at least i know i have. my first clue was when my family use to call me the Gypsy...
Oh my! A beautiful and haunting melody from my childhood, mostly applicable during my teenage years.Blind Faith had some amazing musicians and songs. I'm thrilled to see you react! Thank you so much for sharing young man! 😽💋🎶
One of my all-time favorite songs - always in the rotation. Steve Winwoods contribution to the music landscape is very underrated. Watching him and just a guitar fireside singing this shows his true pure talent. That he was in Traffic and had a solo career is just gravy!
I remember being mired in the quicksand of Alcoholism. This song meant so very much to me. It was part of a nasty relapse. I had been sober for 11 years prior. My "home" was AA. I finally found my way "home" 15 years ago...you see, I have never really had a home....
Enjoyed your reaction. I miss those days of pure music, before the costumed rockers came in vogue (Elton. John, Kiss, Alice Cooper, etc.) It was all about the voices and instruments.
Hi Abracadabra.I was at Hyde Park ,London , UK in 1969, to witness the live concert by Blind Faith, where this song was performed live by Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Rich Grech. I was only 18, but I remember it like it was today. Thanks for reminding me of that great time.
The red head drummer Ginger Baker is a certified mad man, considered by many to be one of the greatest drummers ever. It's been said his bad temper when provoked is legendary! There is a documentary about him called "Beware of Mr Baker" 😁
Best best song ever. They played this at the end of an episode of Homicide: Life on the street with Andre Braugher. I'm sure it's been played in movie or 2 as well. Loved that show as well as this song. Thanks for the reaction.
When the show was still airing I bought the first 6 seasons in DVD. So glad I did. It was the best shown on TV. LOVED all the characters and I still check periodically to see if it will ever stream.
That was one great series. Braugher, Belzer, Secor, the late great Yaphet Kotto, among a host of other great actors performing intelligent screenplays.
Another great song selection. Eric Clapton came up with their name because he felt everybody thought the group was going to be successful no matter what. Check out Babyface and Eric Clapton together on the song Change the World. Awesome reaction brother
Keep coming back to your reaction and listen to your honesty to the sound that released from my coma. Hard to believe consider the oddness, but it did with my rigorous soul searching of my break-up! Some lyrics with simplicity does; and I know that You agreed. Enjoy your journey! 🫡
Joe Cocker did a version, and was featured in the movie Benny and Joon. A very good version, as Joe's voice does what only he can. An electric version was released on a Blond Faith remaster, and it is awesome as well. Nothing like the original, though. ✌️
When Cream broke up Eric Clapton always wanted to play with Stevie Winwood (Traffic) the name Blind Faith came from Eric Clapton just something that he wanted to do.
Do check out Steve Winwood's beginnings with the Spencer Davis Group. Try "Hey Darling" "Every Little Bit Hurts" and "Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out".
It's about being an alcoholic and making that last call to your girl before she dumps you once and for all. First, "somebody must change". Then, "somebody holds the key". Then "somebody must change.". Finally, "Well, I ain't done nothing wrong; but I can't find my way home. . . ."

There’s a live album with Steve winwood and Eric Clapton just called Live at Madison Square Garden that has (what I think) might be the best version of this song ever recorded. Check it out!
Music that makes you feel. Music you do not dance to but rather sit back and enjoy. It was the best era to grow up in. I hope someone finds a way to bring it back, but with music sources so fragmented today and the easy way songs can be copied perfectly by anyone means it probably will never happen. It's all Taylor Swift-like shit today. Enjoy the old stuff. Let the music play.
One of my favorites! Steve Wildwood is a musical genius! Also cool to see how you understand the whole mysticism and spirituality of the Doors and Jim Morrison, I can dig it!
Love this song. You gotta check out the live performance of this song Stevie Winwood did with Eric Clapton his bandmate from Blind Faith and a great backing band.
Couldn't find if youve done Low Spark of the High Heeled Boys.. dripping with nostalgia this will take you right back to a more simple and beautiful time of the late 60s thru the 70s. But Really love your vibe so im subscribed and have hit the thumbs up /Like button on all your songs. remember if your reading this and like this guy Abracadabra then you should subscribe and like all the videos on his channel. As mentioned Steve Winwood is exceptional. I recommend a song when he was with the band Traffic called "Dear Mr. Fantasy".

The entire album is incredible, and worth listening to.
Sadly, they only did one album, before they all moved on to separate projects.

Eric Clapton was in The Yardbirds, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominoes.
All great band names.
Winwood's voice pierces straight to the soul and spirit in this song.
It's haunting, and timeless.
More Steve Winwood please! May I recommend Low Spark of High Heel Boys! Live!
Definitely
The first "Supergroup". Their name was because of their blind faith in each other's talent.
That’s cool
