Dude, Vinnie’s drum sound is so freaking legendary and superb! His drumming is top notch and his sound just knocks it right out of the arena!! One of the best drum sounds ever!!! I don’t think I’ll get much debate on that either!
Viv was a close second behind gary Moore for me. He had a lot of his style going on and and during this period a killer guitarist who laid down some benchmark solos.
Just LISTEN to this...Dio's band at its peak. Vivian's guitar match Dio's vocals perfectly. A real shame he didn't get to finish the Sacred Heart tour.

True, there is no substitute for Steve, but the band had to move on and they couldn't have picked a better musician. That being said, Vivian's talents are not being utilized to the full potential. He is AWESOME.

Vivian Campbell made Def Leppard better imho, the songs are fuller, the problem most people have is it’s no longer the 80’s, Adrenalize showed that, but I don’t think bad of Steve Clark, the band said he left a year before he died.
As a Def Leppard fan I must say, altough the best albuns were with Steve Clark, Viv Campbell was the best they could have ever had. I like both Clark and Campbell. Personally, I enjoy more Clark's Riffs and creativity, but Campbell as an awesome technique and passion. They both are among my fav guitar players. Campbell's work in Dio is the best and Dio without Campbell were never the same.
I can't help but watch this and think "my gosh, look how young Vivian Campbell looked back then" and then I think to myself "I looked young back then too" :) I'm 54 now and grew up on this fantastic music ;)

That concert would still hold up today :) I only saw Dio once, with Yngwie Malmsteen. Craig Goldy was playing guitar for Ronnie. He was good, but Viv was always the one for me.
