It's different for everyone I suppose, but to me sex is all about interaction between people. So without having another real human to interact with, no matter how realistic you can make it physically, it's just not sex. I suppose that's what the developer is getting at by trying to make an AI that people are able to emotionally connect with in some way - but I think it'll still never be the same. An important part of the pleasure of sex is touching your partner and feeling their reaction, knowing that you are making someone you care about feel good. If I were to be having sex with a robot, I know that it doesn't feel and experience pleasure the way that I do, and so I would have no interest in trying to stimulate it at all. No amount of clever AI design would be able to break that wall for me and convince me to want to please it the way I would a real human partner - and so at that point it's just masturbation. There's simply no replacement for real sexual interaction with another human being.

I know he says he is not going for "super realism" but i was just thinking, if he was trying to make it as real as possible he would need to construct the "mental" chip that women have, the one that changes their mind and opinion on a daily basis, the one that says one thing but means another, the one that generally start arguments for no real reason.

Honestly, I have no problem at all with these robots. They won't cheat on you. They're always ready to play. They don't complain and aren't demanding. They won't "cut you off" from sex if the mood strikes. The only downfall I imagine would be sending her back for scheduled maintenance and of course having to clean her up/out after every play session.

I know he says he is not going for "super realism" but i was just thinking, if he was trying to make it as real as possible he would need to construct the "mental" chip that women have, the one that changes their mind and opinion on a daily basis, the one that says one thing but means another, the one that generally start arguments for no real reason.
A good example of what he means by this has occurred a few times in cinema. In Shrek, the creators had originally made Fiona a bit too realistic looking, she felt out of place, so they had to tweak it to make her less real.
Another example might be Final Fantasy: Spirits Within. The characters in that looked hyper realistic, especially when standing still. They looked so real, in fact, that Aki was selected for the cover of Maxim magazine. But if you stare at stills long enough, or watch them moving in the film, there are just enough subtle differences, many of them subconscious, that our brains register them as being non-human. So, to correct for this issue in their next film, Final Fantasy: Advent Children, they tweaked minor features to make them just slightly less realistic. One of the key features, I think, is that they enlarged their eyes JUST enough that you can tell they're CG and not human. This gives them a slightly more anime-esque appearance and keeps them just shy of the Uncanny Valley.
Advent Children isn't "the next film". It's not a sequel to Spirits Within. Advent Children is a direct sequel to Final Fantasy 7, and contains the characters from it, in their original design. Its production has NOTHING to do with Spirits Within, that used the Final Fantasy name, but had very little to do with the franchise.
You cannot say that one "learned the lesson" from the other, because that's like saying Matrix learned a lesson from Terminator about killer machine design. No, they're just two completely separate and unrelated films.
