Thank you for ruining a format that was just meant to make creepy aspects things more well known, as well as make fun of creepypasta history Channel conspiracy type stuff
Pinning this comment was a Chad move
@@oddielover6349 I thought it was funny too.
Hope you're not expecting it to have made me a steaming crying diaper shitting baby.
;^)
@@lemmingscanfly5 lmfao what?
Also I don't sincerely entirely blame you, the format started ruining itself once it became a meme applied to everything, but if you're the dude that made it a CZcams trend that certainly blew it's ass out.
I haven't even actively browsed 4chan in a few years and that was the only place I usually saw it, so I couldn't care much less, not that I mean to imply meme charts ever deserved any sort of arthouse praise to begin with.
I don’t at all understand how he ruined them? these videos are amazing and I love them a ton, so I really don’t know what you mean lol
I don’t even care if it’s an iceberg video, I love your content nonetheless
Whats wrong with an iceberg video, genuine question?
@@cgnfake6721 I don’t have a problem with iceberg videos, I actually really like them, but when it comes to mish koz and how he got really popular most people probably (not saying all) only watch and know him for his iceberg videos. I hope that makes sense I’m not all good with expressing or explaining myself, thanks for the question tho lol
@@cgnfake6721 I just also really love his content and can rewatch it for hours
@@dead8617 yeah his stuff is pretty good. Also icebergs were the perfect addition to youtube in general
Thanks for all these down-to-earth, well-explained iceberg/non-iceberg videos 🙂 I've really enjoyed them and appreciate your transparency.
Since you pointed it out, I want you to know that the earliest example of Donkey Kong having teeth in this era was in the TV show, where they were also weirdly retractable.
Underrated ass show
Didn't DK have teeth in the arcade sprite as well though?
@@mds_main Technically that's Cranky Kong.
@@duncangaming4165 that's still kinda muddy though, unless there was an official confirmation I missed
@@mds_main It's literally part of the lore. I mean look at the intro of DKC
For the underground segments - They might’ve decided to use a parrot instead of an owl to reference how miners used to carry parrots to help detect harmful gases
Wasn't that canaries? I feel like its just because parrots are more 'jungle-y' than owls
Yeah, I always heard it was canaries. Incidentally, this is why Canary Mary in Banjo-Tooie is a canary lady.
@@bhlaab Shit I think it was canarys.
Uhhh... close enough?
Hooter means breast, the owl has a joke name they wanted to put in
iceberg or not, these kinds of videos are always a treat.
I chose you in Black 2
Fantastic video. My first time playing DKC was..on the Game Boy Colour. All things considered, it was a decent port.
Good videos dude
Cranky's tips are what helped me 102% DKC2 for the first time. I guess he really did get softer on the second game and later.
This game is cool and all, but it just needs more Wario!
I really like the way this video was structured and paced!
Something that caught me off-guard was at 15:41. I grew up with the GBA port and I never noticed that at all. Had to go back and check it for myself.
Picture Donkey Kong swinging on a vine. Now, did you picture him falling into a pit?
The King K. Rool Apparition
mish your videos are consistently such a huge cut above the rest in blending dedicated research with a personable demeanor and humor. i get stoked every time i see a new upload from you!
This was great--I loved the early concepts & designs bit, I hadn't seen all of Gregg Mayles' Tweets so the design document was especially cool (of course Rare would try for a name like Hooter)! It was also super neat hearing about CRT display vs pixel perfect, I hadn't really considered the benefits and downsides to each since I'm so used to emulation/Virtual Console as an easier way to record footage 😅
I’m getting tropical freeze as a graduation gift
This isn’t an ice berg but it has ice berg vibes, I say you should call it “A DKC ocean”
My favorite type of iceberg is a nonexistant one
global warming baby!
@@jasonwalker4003 lol
Just yesterday I was rewatching the Mario 64 iceberg, which brought me some good memories, then thinking "I wish Mish Koz made another one". Yes I know it's not technically an iceberg but it's close enough. I'll watch it later tonight. Thank you!
That CRT thing is pog
I think the whole thing with the teeth is artistic choice. DK's teeth flare up whenever he's mad, aggressive, or going for a big emotion (like on the cover of Tropical Freeze), while he tends to be "toothless" when he's calm. The thing is, when it comes to character design, big teeth tend to make characters look edgy or intimidating, and that's probably not what Rare wanted to go with for their laidback, fun-loving take on DK.
1:41 I've been playing this game for 15 years and I didn't know you could do that hand slap thing.
This reminds me a lot of Cybershell's Sonic Bonus videos and I am here for it.
I really love long videos like this, & it was neat to see all this diving into information! Thanks a bunch for uploading! Looking forward to future parts!
This completely proves my idea that it's almost better to have a regular super fun fact video over trying to make a whole iceberg.
This may be my #1 most consistently enjoyable video. There's just such a fun, cozy air to it, like hanging out with a friend and bonding over something that you're both oddly knowledgeable about.
This video was great!
Ive always been a huge fan of DKC in general so its always fun to learn more about it, its evident a lot of research was put into this
Im really looking foward to your DKC2 & DKC3 videos!
I actually just rewatched a few of your oldee videos and throught when the next one was coming out
Great Stuff
Really great video, absolutely love seeing a new Mish Koz video in my feed. Iceberg or not, I’d love to see more trivia videos like this
That Kremlantis remix at the end was so darn sweet, I still adore Donkey Kong Land's soundtrack a whole ton
Fantastic video! Seriously glad you're doing more miscellaneous trivia videos on a similar format
Keep at it! I'm excited for the DKC2 and 3 videos in the future
31:00 Donkey Kong used to show a lot his teeth on the arcade era so giving his teeth back I guess was a way to make references to those games.
HELL YEAH MY DUDE! Glad you uploaded more content!
I'm so glad I've stayed subscribed. Your "real" content is really damn good.
This is 100x better than the iceberg video... and I thought that about the sm64 iceberg video came out! Keep making stuff!
i played dkc1 for the first time a couple of months ago (switch online), and its really cool to be able to see everything i missed. i definitely want to play the other games in the series now. incredible video!
loved this video!! grew up playing the GBA version and seeing the photos and mini-games really brought me back
I actually did really like that segment about pixels. I never realized how older TVs make pixelated games look super good.
This is such a great video, I honestly didn't know the vast majority of facts in this vid, and it was really interesting, keep it up!
Man, you're the best youtuber to listen to while working, love your voice and your rhythm !
Been waiting for this one
Keep it up bro! Love your stuff
Absolutely fantastic content! This video not only educated me on one of my favorite Super Nintendo games, but also got me in the mood to play it... XD
Awesome iceberg video!
I know you as the i Carly deaths guy :)
Seriously you’re funny!
'DERE HE IS!'
Nice analysis and deep dive into DKC and it's content!
Wario would've been a great DK villain. They could have retroactively declared that the evil Mario in Donkey Kong Jr was actually Wario!
Dude, you should make a video about the eerie aspects of Donkey Kong 64, and how it has way too many "spooky" elements, like Frantic Factory, Creepy Castle, the weird club monsters, how all minecart minigames pushed way too hard on being loud and scary (specially the last one), and many more details!
Great video like always, sooo interesting! Glad to see more people interested in the "little" details that I've always admired since I was a child!
Thanks for uploading while I’m eating cereal

The Theme of Donkey Kong Country is "Nature vs Technology"
5:20 I think the theme of each DKC game can be summed up to the different aliases K. Rool takes on throughout the franchise. DKC2 was obviously pirate-based, so he becomes Kaptain K. Rool, sporting pirate garb and wielding a musket. DKC3 was themed after the Industrial Revolution, so he takes on the form of mad scientist Baron K. Roolstein (the final boss fight even takes place aboard a submarine). However, in the first DKC game, he goes by his most iconic role King K. Rool, donning a simple crown-and-cape. This would suggest that DKC1 perhaps has a theme of Imperialism, which would further explain the military uniforms. The Kremlins have invaded Kong Island, they intend to colonize on the land, they've even set up a factory where they're producing god knows what… that whole schtick. Kind of echoing MatPat's sentiments for all who have seen his video on the same subject, but this is also my thinking.
Kaptain K. Rool uses a blunderbuss.
This is pretty amazing!
So glad your SM64 video blew up. I couldn't imagine such a great channel going unnoticed. Here's to further success
Thank you for this video! Please do more videos of obscure facts about games or just gushing about games that you like.
you should call this video "donkey kong country bonus video (not an iceberg)" just like cybershell.
This video is essentially just a Cybershell video lol
@@MishKoz cybershell but Nintendo
@@MishKoz And that isn't a bad thing
Awesome video man, I've been playing dkc since I was in preschool.
Also 25:16 nearly killed me
I loved this and also I will die happy if you make a Trip World video
Honestly? I prefer this format over icebergs. You can just talk in whatever order about what you find interesting, without having to force some arbitrary order.
I don’t even play any of these games you talk about but it’s just really cool watching these.
Teeth can be considered scary, if you look at Early Pokemon Renders, both Lapras and Nidoqueen have more teeth that were removed to make them cuter in later iterations. I can only figure this is why Dk's Teeth disappear, to make him friendly looking unless he's angry.
Shit, there was actually a lot I've never heard of, in here. This was really entertaining.
Awesome Video!
bro i love you mish you are the coolest youtuber ever also I've NEVER heard anyone else explain why sprites are so long on snes games (especially kirby super star, literally played that game for years wondering why he's so long) THANK YOU
Playing donkey Kong country on my old super Nintendo when I was a little kid is the reason why I am into gaming at all today. I still play it a lot
The king returns
Awesome . Looking forward to part 2.
What games are you planning to cover, just the SNES games? Or the GB games too?
That was a great video and all but can we talk about the DK clips at the end? Damn son he’s got the sauce
In the words of Nathan Zed, this video’s already a classic, super well done!
I've been a fan of DKC since Xmas of '94, great job on this!
Great video. You didn’t even have to talk about the Returns games.
This video made me really want to play this game again, so I went out and bought a cart on marketplace with a crt for my snes, this is a great freaking game. Thanks
We’ve been blessed with another mishkoz video
This needs more views
The turnaround animations for DIddy underwater were reused in DKC2.
The dev team created a few levels using sticky notes to easily change the designs.
One of the devs (probably Greg Mayles) drew an image on DK telling Diddy that a level would be easy, but it has many enemies up ahead. In this image, Diddy Kong says Sh*t. I assume this drawing was referenced in the last episode of the DKC TV show, where Diddy Kong says "I can't believe I used my best materials on this shindig", which sounds really similar to sh*t.
Also, I think David Wise was high on 8 tabs of acid when he thought of Aquatic Ambiance according to that "Man Tasked With Making Score for a Monkey Riding a Swordfish Underwater Creates Transcendent Piece of Music" article. The website makes satire articles, so I don't know if this is true or not.
*patiently waiting for part 2*
The script is almost done! I'll hopefully make some progress on it this week!!
Iceberg or not. You explain and show stuff off well. Be confident and make whatever you want. As long as you bring your talents. It will be ok. This video was so interesting too, good job
Something to note about the GBC version of DKC is that it has an exclusive level called "Necky's Nutmare" and "Winky's Walkway" got extended
I also know you as the guy who give me back my love for videogame mysteries and Obscure facts
I kinda want more videos like this where it’s just random facts you thought were interesting
the part where you just listed how many of every enemy there is in the game was truly psychopathic, subscribed
That Rock Krock killing with DK’s ground slap is so cool!
Your videos are always good fun and well made, with excellent explanations and a great love for the subject at hand.
Honestly I'm just happy to have your stuff in my inbox ... besides, a lot of iceberg images are crappy and feature wayy too much made up creepypasta cringe, so if you ditch them, I don't blame you at all!
Cant wait for a bunch of NOT iceberg videos to show up now LOL.
The return of the king
Sick 😎 return of the king
this man carries the legacy of iceberg on his name
Love the use of the avgn.
I'm surprised how well everything looks with the old screens. It really smoothens out the pixel art
Many younger players of the classic DKC games never got to understand just how groundbreaking DKC was when it released. The pre-rendered backgrounds and the character animations were basically unheard of back then. At the time, most ppl didn't realize the kind of music the SNES was capable of, until given composers who were as talented, passionate and patient as David Wise and crew.
Donkey Kong bonus video 😳
25:05
Cranky: What's good
Donkey Kong : Nah I'm head out
Remind me to finish this later
Additionally to the retractable teeth, the Kongs also have weird fur sleeves, but that was a thing that vanished when Rare stopped designing them
Nice video, covers everything
"As well as being able to save your game from anywhere as well..." 25:04
8:45 it's funny that you put an alert there, i was like "whats wrong?" and then i realized the weird system they have in America
6:26 It’s not Capitalism, it’s Unregulated Industrialism. There are vast amounts of economic systems that affect the environment negatively.
FINALLY someone makes one of these for DK, (sorta), I almost did it myself. BTW Fredrik is probably k rool wearing the skin of a waldough
Ooo.... Moonky. Good timing as I've been buying old DK manuals that have a lot of weird shit in them lol.
Actually kinda happy about not calling it an "Iceberg" since 1. it sounds less trend-based now. and 2. I really don't like how the iceberg vids always try to make the lower levels of the iceberg creepier than they are.
I'll never be able to unsee Donkey Kong's retracting teeth, thank you for that.
Nice Mario party ost used after the two spooky DKC tracks 👌
31:07 LETS GOOO. IM NOT THE ONLY ONE TO NOTICE THIS
Man, me and my sister played this game to death when it came out. I had completely forgotten how good they looked on CRTVs.
Nintendo should provide CRT filter options for virtual console.
Nice dkc bonus video
