Sunbeam was never going to pick you up, sunshine. Go back to recover your stuff. By the way, see those palm trees with a bulbous pineapple-like base? They're called Bulbo Trees and are edible, strike it with your knife to get edible samples.
Those edible samples are also plantable once you've got some way to plant indoors.
My anxiety levels are off the charts when you're swimming above the water's surface.
And when the world (me) needed her most, she appeared. So excited to watch episode 2 🫶
such a small advice.
1. swim with empty hands or use a sea glider (you swim faster)
2. don't collect anything you can't use
3. when you stream a video, reduce your image to the minimum possible and place it in the upper left corner of the monitor where it does not interfere with anything
4. if you are not sure, ask for advice
5.if you have a dead battery, replace it with a new one
6.if you have a scanner, scan everything you can. You will get useful information and plans for building the things you need.
question. Why do you carry a fire extinguisher with you, which is still useless?
To be fair, what if a fire breaks out underwater and she's got no way to deal with it? ;^)
others have already said this, but I just wanna mention it too: it's good to scan everything and read the PDA entries....especially for any big mean creatures, you'll learn some VERY useful information :)

Yeah, eating rotten/decomposing food hurts your food and water levels... You did scan that tree on the island. Maybe read through its information?

advice:keep swimming, even when you black out. you've got few seconds left. Meaning, you can still reach the surface,if you're close enough.

Also might I suggest you look into getting the air bladder… it’ll allow you to rapidly ascend to the surface 😉 as well as giving you an extra 15 seconds of air in emergencies
@@louiswillhauck5572yes! The air bladder is a life saver. You can go from 100 meters deep straight to the surface in 4 seconds!

9 Tips without spoilers
1. You can press "R" to reload batteries so you dont need to build next tool
2. you can unlock way to build seaglide and other by making a scanner and scanning bits of ship laying on the sea floor
3. YOU DONT WANT GO TO AURORA "the big ship" THERE IS DANGEROUS
4. If you chave cooked food eat it fast because it will decompose and damage you if you eat it to prevent it you can find salt and it can be put on a food
5. For progress you can just upgrade your stuff and if you cant find materials for it explore lifepods and scan stuff around it if you want more lifepods recive messages from the radio it will give you other beacon
6. The noise in backround is mostly fake to make you scared
7. When you die you loose every ITEM that you get fromthe time you last leave the lifepod
8. You can save game manualy and its no autosave so you can save and if you do something wrong just leave and get back in
9. You chave 10 sec of life after you lose oxygen and even you have full black screen you have 2/3 sec of life
Bro, just let her figure out stuff by herself. She's not gonna improve if you're all backseat gaming.
I just started playing a few weeks ago.. never played a survivor game and was terrified of deep water. My kids talked me into it 😂 You are doing GREAT! It IS Scary but it keeps getting more and more fun. It's still scary lol. You'll have fewer heart attacks eventually. They won't stop altogether, just less. 😂
It's wonderful to watch you experience it all for the first time, too! (Im just now venturing out to see videos that won't spoil my own gameplay, and this is GREAT!!!)
Non-spoily hint: ....... always attempt to slash plants/trees/weeds with your knife. .... Always pack water/snacks even if you think you won't venture too far out (you will, it's just too fun) .... & SCAN/READ everything!

Pro tip: when you find more nutrient blocks or better water, save them for a last resort measure. Near the surface or a base they're a convenience. In a really deep long trip they can save your bacon in an 'eat or die' situation.

talking of food...salt treatment keeps the food safe...it does not rot....now find yourself how to do it. I have finished this game even id hardest Parma death mode multiple time....but I don't want to spoil a player by telling anything ...make mistakes...learn....die couple of times...then you will really enjoy the game on your 2nd or 3rd playthrough...977 hrs I have spent on this game....still love it so much
@@ayanbhattacharyya9617 While that's true, salted food also makes you thirsty so a better strategy is to salt a few really good fish and save for an emergency and use normal cooked fish for most meals. It's not like you need to eat THAT often.
I've never actually seen the way the game handled the sunbeam arrival when not present near the pickup location, so it was interesting to see. I loved the look of mixed terror and intrigue on your face after the explosion and listening to that last broadcast. And the "oh, there is a story... i want to know... I can adapt" was a cool reaction. Others are giving great tips about how to use the game's mechanics to help you out, and it looks like you're accepting their advice. Good luck on the adventure!

You should save the game some time, it's in the game menu. Also read the scan entries in PDA as soon as you scan something, the game is paused then. The irony of you dying of thirst on that island is that the Bulbo trees that grow there provide plenty of water.
19:45 You would have made it if you just kept swimming! You usually have 5 extra seconds once the screen goes completely black. :)

one tip....if you are scared of sea....dont use headphone for this game....some sounds are really scary. Above of all....remember its a game....sea and its animals are not all that bad....enjoy the sea
When you break an outcropping and you don't want it, (like titanium) just let it fall to the seafloor or drop it from your inventory screen.
6:58 You haven't seen really deep yet. Really deep is where the sun doesn't shine in the daytime. (and you'll have to do there to finish the game) But deeper than you've been is where the new stuff is.
Battery chargers can only be built in a base. (after you scan fragments for a blueprint) Many items in the game can only be done in a base. (like building beds to pass the time at night)
The lifepod was only intended for emergency survival, not long term living.
There's a scanner icon in the lower right corner of the screen shat show's when you're looking at something that can be scanned. Watch for that. You missed scanning some good stuff in that wreck fragment at the 13 minute mark. SCAN ALL FRAGMENTS.
13:50. Stalkers play with wreckage fragments. Sometimes they loose a tooth that can be used for crafting later. You can also distract them by dropping a wreckage fragment.

0:17 It gets worse, even than you experienced in this ep. _However_ ...
25:19 This cave system is honestly one of the scariest in the game, IMO. It's also a very important one to explore; not absolutely required AFAIK, but you make things harder for yourself by avoiding it. There are other dark areas, other enclosed areas, but few that combine both and I don't think any rise to this biome. There are areas with more threats, greater threats, but by the time you reach them you'll also be much better equipped and understand the game a whole lot more. So, if you can make it in-and-out of this cave, you should be able to handle the rest of the game alright. :D
I'm glad to hear you'll continue this! (sub earned) But, please, if things get overwhelming do take breaks, long ones if necessary. It might be a bit boring, but play extra cautiously if it helps. I think this game is amazing, but no game is worth getting a heart attack over. :)
If I may, some tips (nothing spoilery, but move on if you want to figure it all out yourself):
1) Scan everything, grab everything. Both can unlock blueprints and help you in other ways. (You can avoid scanning the hostile creatures, tho) Build one of everything, at least, even if you think it's not something you'd use (and there _are_ items that are completely optional)
2) 26:34 Do _not_ stop swimming upward when you're out of oxygen. You're not dead until you hear the death noise, so even when the screen starts to black out it's possible for you to break the surface and survive
3) Some materials used in crafting can also be eaten, helpful if you're in a tight spot for food or water

@@immutton You're welcome! One other thing I forgot to suggest, if I may: Take some time to just go in and around the Safe Shallows (the area your lifepod is in) and the surrounding Creepvine forests for things to scan. In particular, you want a Habitat Builder which will let you do a ton of stuff, but there are other things to get.
It's possible you'll have to venture into the Bloodkelp zone (the biome with the blood red grass) for some pieces. Regardless of zone, you should be able to find a lot without having to go inside wrecks or deep within caves. (Though you'll want to later.)
@@immutton Just a note on that deep cave. Yes, he is right, it's a really scary/good cave, but it's also one that you should stay out of untill you have much better equipment. You definately don't need to go to the deep and dangerous places to find new stuff to scan/build, there are quite a lot of them lying around in the shallows (the cosy, bright places). That should be your focus, look for equipment to scan. Start in the shallows, where you are perfectly safe. After that, the weed places is a good place to go, now you know that the Stalkers aren't that dangerous. After that you can go to the deeper open space areas. It's a bit more dangerous, but you can outswim everything that is dangerous and they only do a little damage if they get a nibble of you.
A nice goal is to find stuff to build a new base in a good place.
Oh. Nights. They are for hunting and preparing food and water around your base. Nights are pretty nice in the shallows. :) Never leave home without a couple of water bottles and fried fishes.
Something about the stalker if you hold fish in your hand, they will eat the fish and won’t attack you for a little bit and they will go get you metal.

some time back there was a same story for reapers....it turn out they are hungry and would like to take you as food than fish :)
@@ayanbhattacharyya9617 I saw a small video where a dude came with a fish and dropped it right before reaper and swam to the left. Reaper was distracted by a couple of ten seconds and forgot for that dude on that time.

knowledge is power ...the bulboo tree you scanned...if you had read it's details....you would have survived the game. i dont want to spoil your game play.....but scan and know....at the same time...be careful not all animals are friendly

You Swim faster if you have your hands free, and making water using bleach gives 2 water bottles
I would recommend using the breaststroke instead of swimming the way you have been!

Girrrrllll you need to READ the things you scannnnnn😂😂 you scanned the very tree that would save your life and then died like 20 feet away from it and missed the sunbeam

@immutton you got this! You're killing it, but it will help a lot if you read the story stuff and the scanned stuff as quickly as it is safe to do so in the game. It's also good to explore the island further (when you can). There is, without spoiling, a lot of resources that you are and are not yet exposed to. It will also have a completed purple tablet (which you got the blueprint for in this episode), but you don't have to make it yet if you don't want to. You totally got this! I hope you're enjoying the game!

I think modding this game is out of her reach yet, but the only essential mod I would suggest is more quickslots. And maybe a map.

I played again the other day and have started reading it a lot more and learning tonnes from it!
@@immutton W, and some people like reading all the lore about the monsters and aliens and stuff, scan anything living and read them all please
@@immutton Ey, you don't have to read all the species and plants if you don't want to. Yes it's true that Subnautica has a very thought-out ecosystem of inderdependent biology, but on my first playthrough I skipped reading all of them too. Take those that you find interesting, and look if at the bottom it says "Assessment:" that it is useful for something.
Important are the logs about "Advanced Theories" and PDAs that you collect from story places. Don't skip these. They tell you what is going on, they do world building what the mission is you have been sent on, what happens to others on the planet, and later on they become more important towards progress and understanding what is happening in your playthrough.
@@immutton If you're having trouble finding a safe time to read the PDA there is an accessibility option which will pause the world while the PDA is open. I personally find this very useful because you can then press the select/back button every time you scan something new or get a new blueprint to read the details safely. Some don't like people doing this because it lowers the stress a bit, but I think you're stressed enough for all of us 😅

Scan more and read more. Those are perfectly non-spoilery tips. A lot of your questions have answers if you scan and read the results. You might even traumatize yourself less. It's also generally preferable to avoid rather than fight the dangerous bits of nature. I know that you're Australian but in this case not everything is hell bent on killing you.
Can you not edit the videos to shorten them, just put the whole video and edit out the background noise please? People like reading them with you so its a win-win
Alrighty, some things I thought you should know:
* Those giant tentacle things towards the beginning of the video are basically whales, they were harmless!
* Having a second tank takes up a lot of space, consider creating that seamoth you collected blueprints for as you can breath UNDERWATER!
* Batteries can be taken out of tools and replaced with new ones instead of just remaking the tool
* Those trees on the island were actually edible, you can slash them with a knife and you would have had water for days!
To sum it up, look into vehicles so you can start going deeper without fear, I cannot say much else because YOURE DOING GREAT ❤️

Yeah, those "blue whale" thingies are actually really nice. Definately worth a closer look. And it definately took some time before I dared going close to them. :)
You died in a 2 meters below the surface and 5 seconds to swim that distance because you gave up. You died in about 35 meters with Seaglide in your hands because you gave up. You died of hunger and thirst in a 2 meters from the fresh vegetables, sitting and waiting the death, because you didn't know that it eatable, because you don't read the information you scanned right after the scans.
Please, don't give up (in the game and in the real life) and do scan & read everything that might be helpful, especially the last line.
Keep calm be brave. We're waiting next episode. :)
P.S. If you're attacking stalkers, they'll starting hunting you in a group. Try to... feed? Keep fish in a hand, don't drop before him.

Are you sure about the stalkers? I have always scared them away with my knife, never given them any fish (didn't know that was a thing unfortunately), and have never been hunted by them.. I had the feeling it might be the other way around, the more of them I hurt, it seemed they bothered me less and less.
@@HenrikJansson78 Every time I attacked them they also seemed to leave me alone but I have been too busy panicking to really observe them properly! I am totally going to try feeding them next time >:)
