    If you do every first stitch of every row with a knit as if to purl, you will create a row of vee's on each edge of your square, it is very neat looking, and it has the right amount of stitches for when you pick-up for your cast on edge.

    Thanks for the clear instructions. I like how you go for the less fussy/easy option. My sort of knitting lol.
    I dont finish the last stitch of the square. I count this as the first stitch of the next square. Makes it even easier to start of the next one :) happy scrappy knitting everyone.

    If you Slip 1st stitch Purlwise and Knit Through Back of Loop on Last Stitch on Every Row, you will get a Neat Edge, makes it easier for picking up stitches for next block.

    When my watch later videos ended, youtube started this video ... which was so funny because I'm sitting here knitting a Cozy Memories blanket out of all of my left over sock yarn. One tip for you. If you will slip the first stitch of every row knitwise and purl the last stitch of every row, you will have perfect stitches to pick up when you are ready to pick up for the sides. It's like the slipped stitches on the sides of the heel flap of socks to pick up for the gusset. Easy peasy and no guessing whatsoever.

I saw below in the comments you said to pick up along one edge at a time and knit 20 rows but what happens at the edges? How would you make them square? Any advice or even another video would be much appreciated! Or if anyone else can help. Would you cast on ?20 stitches (corresponding to the 20 rows) to make a mini mitred edge?

  • @kendenta2207
    @kendenta2207 Před 2 lety +1

    As a suggestion it would be better if you were to slip the first stitch as if to purl in the beginning of each row and every front and back row. This way you have a definite place to pick up stitches. It's done that way in knitting socks for the heel and heel flap. Other than that I understand this concept to create the blanket.

  • @lmherrington6987

      I am not sure if I understand you correctly. Do you mean you would like to ad the squares only to the right side until you have the width of the blanket you would like to have?
      If that’s the case then the answer is yes.
      After the first square you cast on half of the stitches of square two and pick up the second half of the stitches along the side of square one.
