On your orbit “incident”, you correctly figured out that the six meter distance was the distance from you. However what you missed was in your orbit settings, you can also modify the altitude. In your video it was set to “flat”. I have owned my HoverAir X1 for a few days now and we have been getting hammered by storms over here in Southern California. Can you imagine? This incredible little drone arrives. You fly it six times and then it starts raining, and doesn’t stop for days on end! I’m itching to modify settings and fly it again.
The key is in the modifications that you can make to ALL of the modes in settings. The drone is incredibly flexible in terms of how high up you want it to go, and how far away from you you’d like the view from it to be. I am also going to experiment with controllers. I bought two by a company called 8bitdo…can’t recommend one yet because I haven’t been able to escape all of the wet stuff coming down from the sky out here!
Orbit in particular is one of the modes that I am most interested in. I want it to orbit as high up and as far out as possible. Consider that use case for filming a wedding in BVI…I’m supposed to go with my wife on a trip there in two weeks. :)

Well said. Curious to know how its coming for you. I will look into the controllers you mentioned.

@@lifewithfru We had an amazing trip to BVI. I used the drone on a number of occasions. Its small size is a real plus. On one occasion my wife and I got on a two person kayak to paddle from our Catamaran into a deserted beach. There was no dock and no easy way to get there except by paddling over. It would have been extremely difficult (and expensive if we got wet) bring a larger drone with us. I just slipped our HoverAir into a small drybag and tied it to my belt. We made it ashore and I was able to send it up into the air for that beautiful orbit as well as some “up, away and backs” (my description of that flight profile). We used it in several other situations and got great footage.
The smaller 8bitdo controller, the “mini” is the one that has worked best. I’m still struggling to remap two buttons on it but the others all worked well. Still, it would be far better to have joysticks to control this little “flying camera”. I did try the Xbox controller; even when I paired it with my iPhone, it was refused by the HoverAir app. No joy there. Recently I learned that HoverAir also has a dedicated controller…it appears to be simply a re-skinned version of the 8bitdo mini controller. It’s hard to find but I would be patient and get that one-that way you will more than likely avoid any button re-mapping. Good luck!
