  • If you've been wondering "how to practice french pronunciation effectively", this video might be very useful to you. In the video, I share my framework for learning pronunciation and specifically articulation.
    If you'd like to speak French with confidence and ease, see some more of my videos and subscribe! In my videos, I explain French pronunciation rules and articulation. I explain the position of the mouth, tongue, and jaw required to produce each French sound. After practicing with me, you'll feel more confident in speaking French. It will be easier for you to understand fast native speech in movies and real life!

    ATTENTION
    There's something I should have mentionned but forgot to. Phonetics is not only about sounds, right? In French we also have les groupes rythmiques, la durée, l'accent d'insistance, la liaison et l'enchaînement, l'intonation.
    But I believe correct intonation and rhythm is something you can acquire naturally by being exposed to the language and mimicking natives' way of speaking. Whereas the correct articulation requires some more conscious work.
    I'm making the conclusion based on my personal experience and observations. Please agree/disagree and share your reasoning in the comments.

    It occurs to me that when one is attempting to learn a new language involving jaw position and mouth shape that it is almost similar to learning how to sing in whatever language. Like opera,for example.

    Why can no CZcams French teacher pronounce VOCABULARY /vo KAB' u lè ri/ in English? They use the word all the time and say something like /vo ka LU bri/. Listen to a native speaker and say it like that; just like you expect us to do with French.

    • @french.pronunciation
      @french.pronunciation  Před rokem +1

      Because certain sounds or sound combinations can be more difficult for native speakers of other languages, they may be mispronounced in faster and more improvised speech, or the stress may be forgotten. If anyone sees this, please do not get discouraged by this type of commentary. No one is expected to be perfect. With time and practice, we'll get better. In addition, "listen to a native speaker and say it like that" may be one of the less effective ways to learn pronunciation in many cases. How many times do you think I heard the word "vocabulary "? That's exactly why I think learning mouth movements can be more efficient (as you can see I've never done this with English lol). Kind regards.
