I was thinking something where you can shoot the aliens but they are strong enough that in some cases you do not want to and would rather find another way. Similar to the feeling you get when playing the older Resident Evil games where you do not want to kill every zombie because ammo is precious.
@@connorbennett1517 If you play on PC checkout the TemplatGFX overhaul mod, it done a great job of fixing the game up. You can scale the AI and difficulty a fair bit and I’m playing it on easy because I’m a scaredy cat, but ammo can be scarce sometimes on that.

i feel that what happened with Duke Nukem Forever is going to happen to this game also. Gearbox only cares about their own studio made games...not what other people give them to make.
This was a demo build and it was not meant to be playable...HOWEVER somebody apparently obtained files of several unfinished builds of Aliens colonial marines and whatever was in this demo was one of the builds..
It's 2020 and I still like to watch this so I can remember the pain that I had when I first played the actual game also I watch this to keep in mind that no game is as good as the advertising for the game.
I watched this when i was a kid on TV and i was freaked out back then. This demo made you both hype and scared at the same time because of the amount of Xenos, Queen, guns, turrets and also the great teamwork with AI. Well I still enjoy ACM with its mod but i feel that they should keep the original work, instead of Aliens like-COD game.
I remember seeing screen shots of it in an old XBOX magazine , years before this “demo” was shown and I went to my local game shop and said I want to put my name down for a copy of the new Aliens game ( pre order wasn’t even a thing back then) anyway the guys who where working at the game store hadn’t even heard of it . Luckily I had the magazine, and they told me it must still be in development.. around 4 years later this demo was shown. The screen shots I saw in this magazine may not have even been for this game .. but boy did they look awesome (...back then ) Then came Alien Isolation... the best Alien game that will ever be
I know what you mean man, it's depressing to watch. As far as I'm concerned the game was never released. But! I did hear a new Alien shooter is in the works by Cold Iron Studios. So maybe, it will be a much better game than this disappointment.
The reason why the game is different from the final product is: 1. Gearbox at the time are already assigned to make two new Project (Duke Nukem Forever & Borderlands 2) 2. When 2K got furious with Duke Nukem Faliure, they demanded Gearbox to put their commitment to Borderlands 2 to "fixed the financial issue" (Despite they had BioShock in case if they aren't in a hurry). 3. SEGA who wants it to be like Call of Duty, had a big disagreement with Gearbox. So, TimeGate Studios reluctantly developed it, while Gearbox complete Borderlands, before it's port on Console is completed by 2K Marin & Australia. 4. Once Gearbox returns, they did not like what TimeGate did with the game and it's technical problem on running in console. 5. Because SEGA refused to delay it anymore, they just "Launch" the game into the final product, with Gearbox version is heavily removed, and it's technical problem got worse, which led this game to what we all known today... Conclusion: If SEGA would listen, the game could be something great! But, they wanted to step into the FPS marketing bullshit! PS: It's also 2K Games and 3D Realms fault (the latter which the studio at the time was only 18 people employed) led DNF led the game understaff. And has since, the people at 3D realms moved and carry the Duke Nukem rights to Gearbox and Epic Games (the latter acquired half of it, because the game runs on Unreal Engine 3, which was Epic proprietary software engine).
Thank you for wasting this opportunity, Gearbox. You even managed to capture a visualization of what the fans wanted proven in this Demo. But you still decided to half ass the final product when you should have prioritized this game with the resources you were given. It is unforgivable to the fanbase of Aliens and most certainly will not be forgotten.

Never, dude, never. I waited 7 years for Aliens: Colonial Marines, when it was first announced in 2006. I was always upset to hear it was pushed back, or even canceled, then Gearbox gave me hope when they reignited the hype via this E3 2011 demo and then stated the release date, 7 years of waiting only to be massively let down. Unbelievable
Main problem was the AI was broken with a bug and was too slow to come at you. Also too many sections the aliens were linear and prediable instead of coming from all different places like vents and wall, they just come from 1 or 2 places without variation. It just didn't feel punishing enough for horror

I like to forge maps in halo games, and the last battle in the demo actually did help me conceptualize some ideas for some infection games. Although since I can’t work with genuine power walkers, mantis’s are my next best thing on hand. Turns out gravity hammer and energy sword attacks stagger mantis’s rather well, so that’s close enough to how the power loader gets taken down here. 10:47

Playing this infamous classic again on my ps3ps3 that I just plugged in again. The multiplayer mode was really fun and I doubt anyone is still online, but I'm gonna see.
The Alien series is a must-have-seen-and-know-pretty-well if you want to be in the industry. There's a pantheon of movie essentials that goes with game making.
welll sorta this level is in "no hope in hadleys" same map in the place where you hold out after saving the marines. but still no where near what is in this trailer clearly. my guess is this was done on a pc for the demo trailer and they couldn't get this level of graphics and polish to work on the xbox 360 and ps3 so downgraded the game for it.
It's an absolute shame what happened with this game. Aliens inspired so many games back in the day. Halo marines, Doom marines, etc. Sega learnt their lesson with this one. That's why they let Creative Assembly do their thing with Isolation. That game saved Alien as profitable IP.

Almost 10 years since this trailer was released. But that feeling of getting ripped off is still fresh.
I don't understand how the E3 demo looked so promising, but the game ended up being one of the most monumental fuck ups in gaming history.
