The FMS FCX24 stuff is worthy of a look, too. The two speed really makes great use of the 050. The LC80 has to be about the best performing licensed 18th scale I've seen released yet.
I bought one of your 050 44T right when they hit the streets, I just threw that motor into a diecast rig that weighs 1lb 9.7oz and it just screams right along and low speed crawls just as well.
I think you need to design and build a chassis that will do 5" 90 degree breakovers with ease. There are a few 24 comp companies that have some stuff to offer. Seems like you could dig yourself a nice little niche with some Holmes parts.

Micros and minis are super popular. Most commonly the SCX24 and TRX4m, the Redcat Ascent 18 took off like a rocket and now the CR18P from Hobbyplus. The FMS FCX24 and FCX18 are also popular. People seem to use the SCX24 platform for scratch builds and TRX4m for all around use from scale trail to comp. Furitek is probably the top dog in the small scale brushless game, Injora just dropped an outrunner with ESC combo for like $60 but it lacks features from what I've seen. I think alot of people gravitate to Furitek because of their app to tune with the built in Bluetooth module on their ESCs, but they go for a premium price point. I think a mid budget drop in system would sell a ton, kinda like what Injora is going for with theirs, but with a Holmes twist and some good tune ability. I'm super stoked to see what you come up with for the small scale segment!

Personally have a lot more SCX24s than any other, but also many competitors in the micro game now. FMS, HobbyPlus, Furitek, Traxxas, Axial, Carisma, Element, etc.

For the 050 motors to fit the SCX24. All you have to do is trim the battery tray a little. With a different skid, you can flip the transmission and run bigger motors. Sliders take place of electronics trays on my micros. It allows you to lower the ESC/Rx/lipo.
MOFO RC or Furitek have the deepest motor/motor plate product inventory for these micros. I'm running mainly MOFO motors in all of my minis/micros. Brushed or brushless. They have a motor to fit your build. One rig has a Furitek Micro Komodo brushless outrunner.
Looking forward to what you'll bring to the market for these micros and minis. Especially brushless motors.
    I have:
    2-TRX-4M
    2-FCX18
    4-SCX24

Hell yeah! Can't wait to see what you come up with. I am big fan of Micro Crawlers. You can crawler anywhere, from your hotel room, to backyard or to some far out location. You'll be surprise how a pile of rocks in your local park can be super challenging to crawl on. I do own one of your 050 motors, it's a "go to" in the micro world for brushless motors. My comp rigs are super light and have forward weight bias vs my trial and "go to" rigs are super heavy, slow crawling with some with speed. I have never owned a box stock SCX24 or 4M, so my knowledge is somewhat limited when it comes to stock stuff. But when I installed your 050, I have a factory looking plate with 4 slotted holes in a rectangular layout. I believe stock is 2 holes across from each other. Other companies include a motor plate, some with 9mm or 12mm bolt spacing. I haven'y measure stock, but it might be a different bolt spacing. No one cares about the stock battery tray. I would focus on bolting up your brushless motors to a 9mm or 12mm bolt spacing. That way, people who are already invested into a brushless, them can just swap out the motor and not a motor plate and motor. We usually move them forward or on the slider or up front towards the servo. I have over 20 different micro crawlers from the SCX24 platform to the 4M platform. SCX24 has way more aftermarket support than the 4M, there are more comps just for SCX24s. The 24 scene is like the 10th scale scene when it comes to Axial based mods vs Traxxas based mods. I hope that puts things into perspective. Other brands like FMS, which is like RC4WD, super scale, but not as capable. FMS just released the FCX24M, it comes with a 2-speed, straight axles (no portals), ring & pinion, hardbody and tons of scale add-ons for around $100. The cool thing is that the FCX24M shares the same bolt pattern skid plate to frame rail as an SCX24, so adding a 2-speed is going to be fun. The Micro scene really needs an IFS, trophy truck RTR-ish type. Just a thought of doing something different. Furitek really cornered the brushless market in the Micro world. The scene is more considered a Micro than Mini. Mini is more in the Kyosho Mini-Zs. I have two Mini-Z and they are poopy when it comes to performance. Super scale, but even with all the mods, the Mini-Z is not worth it. I look forward to what you come up with. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have more questions.

Yep now is the time for mini crawlers they have been improving at a fast rate & it’s not slowing down. When they first came out it was kind of a novelty but I think the SCX24 kinda opened up the door & right away the aftermarket for parts just took off. But motors & servos where entry level & not good at all but now the parts have really improved especially more recently now we have features you would only see in a 1:10 scale rig like brushless set ups & servos & 2 speed. My first RC was the first edition SCX JLU & I actually have a brushless motor in it but it’s painful slow. I upgraded everything on it but when I got my first 1:10 scale that was it I didn’t get anymore mini crawlers & pretty much just ran 1:10 scale from then on. But now after getting a FMS mini with 2speed & it could also slow crawl very smooth even with the brushed motor. After that I’ve been back into minis a lot & have 1:24 & 1:18 scale now. My favorite is the 1:18 crawlers FMS has some very good ones & Furitek also has some nice RTR’s like the Fury wagon. Recently Hobby Plus put out a 1:18 LCG rig 2speed brushless motor & it’s one of the first LCG RTR’s to come out. I’d say the TRXM is more popular then the SCX24 mostly because it’s a 1:18 rig but the SCX has a huge following & a lot of people are building custom 24’s. One of my favorites is the UTB 18 I have a brushless set up & full size LG servo in it. It’s definitely bigger then 1:18 but you can get tons of upgrade parts. Overall mini crawlers need more servo options including brushless & good motors but mostly esc’s are needed. You can have a great motor but the esc controls it so that’s where even the current systems don’t feel as smooth as let’s say a 1:10 scale brushless system. So to start minis came out to fill a niche & brought more people onto the hobby but now the enthusiast already in the hobby are getting into them & building minis that’s the difference it’s not just a fad real RC enthusiast are getting into them & doing a lot of custom builds. I just just the TRXM Ford F-150 High Trail & have low speed metal gears in it aftermarket motor & servo metal beadlocks etc. From experience the M is probably the most popular but has the worst electronics of any of them. It’ll be the first things many people will change everything else is solid & the High Trail Edition from my experience is the best form of the M. 👍 Happy building whatever it is you are coming out with will definitely hit a hot market but we Need Servos! 😉🙌

SCX24 is by the most popular for the 1/24 scale. Biggest motor competitors are the Furitek Mini Komodo & Cedar and the Mofo NanoBam v2, ROP & SMP. Both also have very tuneable ESCs that work well with their motors. The easier a motor can drop in and remain forward in the chassis, the better. Btw, cool song at the end.

But like you said, when covid hit I started seeing more videos about indoor micro crawler courses and said to myself screw it, they are cheap so go for it. I decided to try one and couple years later now I have more than ten micro rigs because it's like they multiply while you're replacing or upgrading parts. I've always wondered why you didn't offer more electronics for micros and now I know why. I'm sure you will do quite well in the 1/24 and 1/18 scale market since most people that I know that have micros also have 1/10 scale rigs and would love to have your products on all the different sized rigs they have.

Micros are popular where I live (Montana) because we don’t get year round crawling outside. When it’s -30, and we still want to play, an indoor course is awesome. I love my TRX-4M, but I am building a couple SCX24s.

6 months in with WPL C24-1 and now i want a SCX24 or the FMS 24 has 2 speed. Tons of Instagram guys with the scx24 , printing bodys and links. My reason is Price. There is a Furytek system i hear a lot about. Brushless systems.

Definitely take a look at the FMS fcx24s they make a good little micro crawler would really like to see what you could come up with for the micro world

Somebody needs to make a good 3s capable brushless combo for the Arrma Grom line up. There really isn't a great choice now and the Grom family is growing fast.

Happy to see that you are going into the scx24. It would be great if you followed the low-budget idea and appeared with a brushed motor with better performance and that was compatible with the original electronics. (please make 4 holes in your 050)

@HolmesHobbies If possible have a look at the FTX Outback 3 Mini crawler. Certainly here in the UK they are more popular than the SCX24. I personally run many scales from 1/5th down to the 1/24th scale. The 24th scale crawlers are great fun outdoors and are the way to go when the weather is awful and we want to go crawlin indoors. (happens a lot here in Scotland) My friends and I have got many people into the RC hobby with most of them starting out with FTX outback 3 mini (1/24) or the FTX Ravine (1/10) rigs. In the USA the Ravine is called Danchee Ridgerock and the Outback3 Mini is available under several different names. Pretty sure there is a good market for upgrade parts/motors for these rigs, especially the 24th scale Outback3 mini crawlers. Keep up the good work and I hope Your motor project goes well

We have 4 or 5 scx24s, but haven't ran them in a while. One has the mini z motor, and a couple have upgraded motors. But not the easiest to work on and easy to get a lot of money into them.

Love the minis. The sx24, trx4m, fx118 and the red cat ascent 18. Run all, would be totally interested in your motor for all.

I got out of 10th scale and now love micros. I prefer the SCX24’s so hopefully you’ll be making a motor for these. Thanks in advance, and expect my pre-order. I have 4 of my own and have gifted 3 to others.

The current best motors are the micro komodo, mini komodo and cedar motor from Furitek and then the NanoBam v2, ROP & SMP from Mofo. Furitek'sPython Pro esc is also one of the best with it's bluetooth tuning and FOC. and then the Dinky RC ESC is also pretty good (from what i hear)
We consider Micro as anything under 1/28. The mini b, mini t, mini z, mini jrx2, and a few others range from 1/16-1/28. Anything smaller is really a micro. (Orlandoo Hunters are 1/32-1/36 and then they go all the way down to 1/76 as "Hobby Grade")

I have the scx24 gladiator that's most customized and for comps. I have the trx4m too and parts to put on it, but haven't gotten to installing the parts for a year now! Love both and drive my trx4m defender often, just stock.

Started with the scx24. Went to town on it but quickly realized tenth scales where it's at. Just easier to find good crawling spots with a bigger rig. However having to replace a motor mount on my 24 twice sucked lol.

I prefer scx24's for comp builds and trx4m's for having fun. I've got a trx4m high trail with a mamba micro X2 and 4100kv 0808 and it's an absolute blast!

@redroosterazrc pretty close just drill the motor mount holes in the trans to 2.5mm get a furitek 2mm grub screw pinion in mod .4 and you have to cut out the Brace going between the shock towers.

I build a little tube chassis for the scx24 and it’s hard finding the right motor that fits in there nicely so I think that would be a perfect idea and I would buy four of them for every rig I have
