Also Im sad to say is that The girl who played Jodie On the show passed away here recently at the age of 77. Thank you for all that you have done over the years.
I was so excited to find this. I remember going to see it. This played on TVO and there is a brief clip of me in the audience. I fully thought I was famous
im 36 years old and just enjoyed this so much.. i used to watch it when i was 6-14
What a treat.
Watching 80's parents react in the audience is almost as entertaining as the show. Look at how awesome that time was for a kid- BEHOLD!
An error in this episode during the credits when the limo traveling north on Yonge St past the Eaton Centre towards Dundas Square and at the end when the limo reached the store traveling east on Queen St as the broadcast version was filmed in Hamilton, ON at Hamilton Place Theatre.
Oh my god, no lie, Jeff was my first childhood crush.
I watched this show all the time back in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s with my parents and loved it. But I had never seen this live stage special before. It was great!
Wow I never knew they did a live show. I would've loved to see it! Even now I would. I hope this doesn't get taken down, it's my childhood right here
L M I saw this special on Nickelodeon back in 1986! I remember it well.
I see that they toured a few cities and sometimes performed twice a day! I wish I can go back in time and get front row seats (wishful thinking)
L M right i use to watch this all the time growing up its one of my favorite all time child hood shows of all time. I loved and still love this show???
L M i know right lol. Me too.
Tom Jess i was born in1986 i grew up watching this show i loved and still this show.
This was supposed to be the final episode...but the kids who loved this show were disappointed so they ran it for 2 more seasons..this was the last episode of the 1985 season. It ran until July 1, 1987
I would have lost my mind if I was able to go see the live show back then lol…
It took me many searches on CZcams and the internet to find this show from my childhood. It's one of the first I remember ever watching, but is the one show from my childhood that I have never been able to identify online. I kept googling things like "children's show with man who quit moving when losing his hat" and "puppets." FINALLY, my search has come to an end. It's really cool seeing something I haven't watched since I was probably only three or four years old.
Thanks for posting this, RetroTy. Would love to see more if you have it.
RIP Jody
Waldo seemed like a very down to earth guy
I was at the live show. They had it live in Hamilton
OMG, I remember watching this on TV in late Nov or early Dec 1985, when my mom flew down to MS to see my very ill grandma, who passed a few weeks later. My brothers loved watching the show too back in the day, though I don't know if I've seen it since.
I remember watching this special on Nickelodeon. I loved this show when I was a kid.
Best show of my childhood on TVO
RIP Nerene Virgin
I actually saw a live show of Today's Special sometime around 1985. It was at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.
Wish I grew up in Canada!
the end credits while driving remind me of Night ride
Like coming home and going straight to bed.
The end credits had a continuity error. The limo was traveling north on Yonge St past the Eaton Centre and towards Dundas Square and headed to the store near the end of the credits the limo was traveling east on Queen St although the theatre was at the Hamilton Place Theatre in Hamilton, Ontario.
Thank you so much for uploading this!
I remember this episode when I was little.
thank you for posting if you have more Todays Special tv episodes we'd love to see them
omg, they did a live show of this!
I would have loved to see this show when I was 6.
great memories!
Jodie totally sounds like Helen Reddy!!!!
And looks like her too!
Crazy thing jodie later became a politician
Interesting! I had no clue this was a live stage show. I wonder if this is one of the first stage shows for a kids T.V. Show. It was ahead of its time! ❤️
I remember watching this when it first came on, and it was a Saturday. I didn't get to watch it all because I was going out shopping with my parents and they wouldn't let me stay home by myself; I was just 10 at the time. I don't think Nickelodeon ever reran the show.
Too bad they didn't have a reunion for the show. I would have loved to have seen what everyone looked like after a certain time. I think it came on in 1981.
I think they're still trying to sell that same furniture.
Memorabilia from Today's Special 😀
And Jeff had already been a mannequin, by the time they departed him from the store and was brought on stage @ 12:05.
When Jeff takes his hat off, it shows us that his hat can work normal away from the store.
Never did watch this special but as many others have mentioned in the past took many years and CZcams to find what this show was, all I knew and remember was a manikin who lost hat had lost is hat and had to say the magic words hocus pocus almagoucus
Sam is so funny LOL
Marcus Arline yes sam is funny but i liked them all.
Was this the John Bassett Theater in the Convention Center?
No, this was in Hamilton at the Hamilton Place Theatre.
A 🇨🇦 classic ❤️
Emily the Blue Cow ended up with her own episode the next year!
From 5:47-8:34 Nickelodeon cut out the part.
When Jeff turns into a mannequin the kids really seemed concerned but the parents act like they don't know what going on lol
Jeff made a mistake on his Hocus Pocus song
When Jodie enters the limo about to leave the theatre Nickelodeon cut out the part.
Nick albers that's not cool that they did that.
Muffy's voice sounds different
Nina Keough had just given birth a few months earlier (so she may have been tired)
This is so beautifully corny
LOL, so 1980s and I love it and miss those days. Now, we're all grown up and doing adult things. How I wish for one weekend of my 80s childhood again with some of my deceased relatives
