The Coromandel Express is one of the flagship trains of the Indian Railways, which runs down the east coast of India between Shalimar Station (SHM) in Howrah, West Bengal and MGR Chennai Central Station (MAS) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on daily basis. It used to run between Howrah (HWH) and Chennai Central but in January 2022, its terminal was changed to Shalimar instead of Howrah.
It is one of the first earliest Superfast trains in the of Indian Railways. Most people travelling to Chennai prefer this train as it arrives earlier than the others on this route. The train runs jam-packed throughout the year.

for anyone including @transitbites , WAP4 is perfectly capable of running at 130kmph just like WAP 7 .. infact, WAP 4 is use to carrying heavy load at that speed.. purely by operational economics, WAP 7 is preferred and WAP 4 are diverted to tier 2 or tier 3 trains.. just like WAP 1 which used to Haul RAjdhani trains until WAP 4 arrived...
Now the LHB are even lighter, WAP 4 should absolutely have no prob.. they are just phasing out older engines..thats why we get WAP 7 now..
Thats not the actual reason. WAP4 engines cannot supply hotel power to the coaches. For ICF coaches, Hotel power is generated by the rolling wheels and then stored in a battery. But for LHB coaches, there is not enough space for this kind of mechanism as it uses disc type brakes. So inorder to provide power to the lhb coaches, one generator car is attached at any end of the train. But due to the inefficiency and noise of the generator car, WAP7 engines are used as these engines can supply the coaches with power whereas wap4 cannot.

Coromandel Express Train Chennai Central to Shalimar jn Journey Vlog Excellent Capture
The Howrah-Chennai Central Coromandel Express is one of the biggest jokes of Indian Railways now. Youngsters are unaware that when it debuted in the mid-1970s, it had only 3 stops (Bhubaneswar, Vizag, Vijayawada) between Howrah & Chennai though it was hauled by Diesel Engines. This is because this Section was not fully electrified then. The first Engine change used to take place at Vizag. It used to take 23.5 hours only. Just imagine what it could have been now with the 02 current high HP Electric Engines had the schedule not been thrown haywire. 17 hours I guess! if allowed to run unimpeded.

Coro Crew Changing Places Vijayawada, Vizag, Kurdha Road, Kharagpur. Also there are trains like Trivandrum Rajdhani which runs non stop between Kota and Vadodara which is almost 550 Km.
loco pilot allocation is based on the railway distances. Sometimes crew change for short distance like MAS - AJJ / CBE- ED/ etc.
