Awka became a State capital in 1993 when Enugu was carved out of it , from then till now is 28 years not yet 30years. However, Awka is gradually taking shape, with good governance and bit by bit parch ups here and there and steadily, she is going to emerge as one of Africa's most beautiful cities. For this to happen, the mistake of urban development as known to Ndi Anambra must be avoided and care given to proper planning and esthetics
Though so proud of my people but, We still need partition those beautiful houses with More standard interconnected squared wide road networks of boulevards with functional street lights. Award the urbanization contract to foreign contractors, White men to handle if not... But all the same kudos to our indigenous aggressive developers, massive indeed. Igbos are great.
The city is a well planned city, from the video its very clear. Awka is by far beautiful and well planned thsn your own glorified village state capital
@ugom prince Erics, Awka is not your glorified unplanned village called Enugu that's littered with bad roads, filth, shanties and slums. Awka is the fastest developing city in Nigeria aside Abuja. Na envy dey worry because Anambra has beautiful well planned cities.

Nonsense capital with no proper planning, people building houses anyhow with no proper drainage, they ve turn the place to one of the dirtiest capital in Nigeria. Not sure why the government lacks sense of planning .
Ade, coming from somewhere where they build houses with mud houses. Ibadan, Akure, Osogbo, Ado Ekiti, and Abeokuta are all glorified villages littered with mud houses and dirty rusted brown roofs with filth littered everywhere. Awka is like London compare to all the state capitals in yoruba land.

I really don't get the ambience and aesthetics of Awka!!! After all it was created at a time we know our left from our right. Any recreational facilities..public parks, open greeneries, tree planting, real organized MODERN city state? Is it abnormal/ a crime, to have Julius Berger standard of road in Igboland??? 30 years is a long time!!
The next governor really need to work on Awka master plan, although there's Awka wonderland lovely park with mary facilities, it's located in Agu Awka.
Your just on top of one building showing us Awka, u should start from government house, ministries buildings, state house of assembly, hotels, different centres and so on, don't be lazy maan
