Phyllis Rittner, I dont know if you will see this, but thank you for your words and bless your sweet heart. I couldn't listen to this without welling up because it was like listening to myself finally forgiving myself. Thank you.

Thank you for your voice, I'm coming to terms with a childhood very similar.

Never knew of C-PTSD. Thanks for a conscious awakening.

I had a very similar childhood and grew up to try to balance my own family and my mothers mental illness. I am now 50 and CPTSD is out of control. As my mother gets older she is getting more demanding and mean and fragile. I can’t be around her anymore as she is causing me very severe depression and anxiety and I am taking it out on my family. I can barely go to work. Her voice triggers me terribly. She has no one else as she has burned all of her bridges with family and friends. She treats healthcare staff viciously and they kick her out of places or stop coming by to check on her. APS has been called on her but says since she has a roof over her head and food in the home they can’t do anything. Her house is dirty and she only cares about taking her opiates and tranquilizers all day. She is very narcissistic. I can’t do this anymore.
